I love that you aren't afraid to show when you have issues or get a bit stressed over part of the trail. Makes me feel better about my riding when I balk at a certain part or take extra long to commit to a drop, etc. Thanks for showing your human side!! ;) :)
Such a fun week riding with Ryan! Top notch riding partner. I should have known better before I rolled that rock slab with his flat pedals haha :). If anyone is planning a trip to Squamish and wants to check out our amazing trails be sure to get in touch with Ride BC for a guided ride. www.ridebc.ca or email me at james@ridebc.ca. cheers!
@@ridebc1629 People need to check out your website. You are offering some really cool experiences! A Loam Ranger E-bike Alpine tour video would be very cool for both of you.
Those trails are pretty incredible! What’s crazy is that you can just walk through the bush for 30 seconds and be on a totally different but equally awesome trail, almost any time you want. It’s endless out there. 🤘🏼
The Loam Ranger check your alignment. Make sure all pistons push evenly and the calliper is centre over the rotor. You can’t just pull the lever and tighten the bolts up with sram 4 pots. If there’s noise there’s vibration and that’s because somethings out. Also metallic pads will always howl when cold or wet try organics. Also do you have a microphone on your bike or something that’s making it sound really loud?
Dude, loam is my favorite type of soil, it's the kind you can walk barefoot in and it feels so good to your feet, the clogs bust under your feet like fresh powdered snow. To me riding in clay loam is better than sandy loam. I love it so much I subbed to you awhile back just because of your channel name. Then I found out you made great vids. Keep it up cuz and learn about soil types, after all our bodies come from it. 😀
Would I hit that trail?... Usually I would say yes, but after hitting some blues and a couple of single blacks when I rode in BC for the first time last month, I'm going to say probably not. Unless I had someone like James to guide me through it.
Since you mentioned the weird feeling you get on a long bike… I always get waaaay to far behind the saddle on a long/slack bike on technical drops like that. I can't help myself. It just feels weird. That's why I switched back to a shorter, steeper bike 🙂👍(just my personal preference, dont get angry in case you love slack bikes, guys ;)
Hey man should I go for the shimano xtr or save money for sram eagle?? I kinda like them both and if I choose shimano, I'd be saving a few bucks but if I go for sram, I might go empty handed but the performance will be worth it. Can you help me out?
Sweet! It would be great if you can record your guest voice, and join it to the original video. Simple recorder voice during all the trail is his jacket may be enough.
The Loam Ranger RODE sells a mic that plugs directly into a smart phone so you can record to voice memos/free voice recorder app and email it to yourself and boom dual mic setup for like $70
Unfortunately linear doesn’t work well with mtb footage, I’ve found. At least not chest mounted. I like to be able to see the bike and the bars in the frame and I just can’t catch that with Linear.
Which trail pushed you to the limit recently?
Also... “Semenuk”, not “Seminuk” 😬😂
Avery Creek Trail up to Black Mountain all the way to the end. That was my toughest to this point.

Hey James, are you running your Troy in the high or the low setting? How much sag?
@@chriswood9693 Hey Chris. It's a Spartan 29 actually. I run it in the low setting. Sag wise... 35% I believe!
@@ridebc1629 People need to check out your website. You are offering some really cool experiences! A Loam Ranger E-bike Alpine tour video would be very cool for both of you.
@@chriswood9693 yeah that's a great idea! Ryan deserves a break from those hard pedalling days :)
Your brakes sound like alien chatter 🤣 that’s some steel af stuff right there. Well done!
Haha totally. Thanks ARV!
I laughed really loud when you started singing "SRAMMMMMMMM!!!!!' when your brakes squealed... it was very appropriate and accurate lol
Alex G haha yup. I’ve been cursed with loud brakes for years now!
Yeaaaaah, you know what?
I’ll stick with the blues thanks.
I love blue trails
Just rode Squamish for the first time yesterday and rode down Hybrid. Absolutely crazy how gnarly all these trails are. Slightly terrifying at times.
can't wait to move from Australia to BC with my family and start finding all these trails!
Lucky man!
Watching mountain biking videos is my aesthetic
Spicy Rock Slab. Great name for a MTB UA-cam channel.
Haha totally
Looks awesome!

Just ride!! All the stopping man!! Just go!!
Oh man that’s some crazy stuff!!
A little hectic at times but also tons of fun!
Your breaks sound like a gosh dang alien space ship
Kebdoesstuff the beautiful song of SRAM brakes 😂🙉

Yes - more slabs please!
I like the feature of your brakes where they sound like some weird alien technology =P
You pay extra for that feature.
Oh Squamish, Heuso never disappoints.
Can't wait to ride it again now that I know what I'm getting into!
@@TheLoamRanger And of course there's sooo much more waiting for you.
I want to come to the Sea-to-Sky and just ride Squamish and Pemberton. This stuff is rad!
Do it!
Is there video of Semenuk hitting that drop?
Love the video. You gotta throw an actual link on for James at RideBc.ca. He takes you to the good stuff.
Chris Wood not sure how I forgot! Thanks for letting me know Chris 👌🏼
Very technical Steeeeeep stuff I know where the skidmarks would be if I was riding them.
😂

Nice work! As if the double black isn't crazy enough, you just had to do it with snow and ice around.
Naturally! It's the Canadian way.
The Loam Ranger yeah I tap out when snow and ice is involved. Well done.
@@TheLoamRanger come to the UK its way more challenging as we have yellow and black trails

ah man im so in for the forest riding but the tech would scare me off. im really falling for Canada and her nature. thanks for the adventure!!
I am not sure if you have any questions or concerns please visit the plug-in settings and make sure you are not the intended recipient
Mad trail! where can I try out ur new fully digital brakes?
*i like your bike a lot*
Thanks! It's a Pole Machine. Beauty!
That was a nice ride!
Getting Slabby with it!
Squamish is definitely what your weird uncle brings to Thanksgiving
I wish there was a gimbal indicator that you could turn into a graphic to show us the steepness of the trail.
shazbot131 that would be *awesome*
Damn Ryan, were those your brakes all the ay around? Hehe. Great vid man.
Haha workin them hard on these trails!
dang nasty trail! my arms are burnin just by watching it

What was the second portion of trail still Hueso? Didn't look familiar
Nope that's a different trail. Can't name names though, unfortunately
@@TheLoamRanger thought it might be one of those situations haha. I'll have to do some exploring next time I'm out
Great video! You can tell the GoPro effect is really turned up on this one...
Thanks! Haha up, to the Max.
Astonished this has been put as a double BD, for me it looks more like a one BD.
Have you seen it in person? It’s a bit different when you’re standing at the top haha
what mudguard are you using
Hey, great vid. What mud guard are you using?
Thanks! It's this one from Mucky Nutz: muckynutz.com/mudguards/MugGuard/MugGuard_Long
Heh...sometimes your brakes sounded like a babbling brook. looks like good times!
Sick brownies
Definitely not having the ice issues here in Australia
I hope not!
yeah, nice trail, I would ride it, but not all of it, some of those short compressions looked pretty sketchy
they’ll get ya! It’s pretty fun once you start to get accustomed to them.
Technical stuff really gives you a rush, you become like a double black diamond junkie
Hectic!
But so fun!
Aviiiiiiiid!!! C'mon, that bike deserves a proper brakes ;)
Hahaha

Why do your breaks make that noise every time you break?
Can you switch pads?
Carlos Saavedra the magic of SRAM brakes under really hard braking. That’s just their charm 😂
Is he riding the new spartan 29?
Fred I believe James was!
You spelled lone wrong
Edit: oh
Give a speedometer
No one:
R2d2: 5:53
Damn I'm such a good rider hitting all the reds in the UK wow
(watches multiple Squamish videos)
ya know what? nevermind.
😂
Christ... what terrible noice is that coming from your bike?
Please shoot your videos with a "linear" field of view (distortion-less view).
The wide-angle / fish-eye field of view detracts from the realism.
Unfortunately linear doesn’t work well with mtb footage, I’ve found. At least not chest mounted. I like to be able to see the bike and the bars in the frame and I just can’t catch that with Linear.
