    Holy cats. I was getting myself prepared for PVC or some kind of epoxy glue, and you come in... like a hero... with a popcicle stick. Heck yes. You are the man of summer.

      I twisted the knob too tight and I can’t get it undone at the base what do you suggest. I put a rubber wedge in the base then turned the knob into into but now it’s stuck.

      Sorry I missed your comment a long while ago! Did you ever get the knob unstuck, and the umbrella to stop twisting? @@_antcap_

      @@sandynielsen1098 seriously, SO helpful! my patio table umbrella hole isn't large enough to fit standard "rubber umbrella wedges," but is still large enough to make the umbrella spin -- this fixed the problem!! thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    thanks for your vid. i drilled holes through the pole that holds up the umbrella. then I screwed the 2 screws that hold the umbrella pole in place. that worked for me.No more spinning. you may also try lifting up the metal base, and there's a screw underneath, and tighten that up too.

    • @sandynielsen1098
      @sandynielsen1098  7 років тому

      Those are great ideas, too! Umbrella manufacturers should give out a how-to page to fix this problem :)

    • @6955beniegn
      @6955beniegn 7 років тому

      yes , thanks, and just some detail for anyone else, where Kurt shows you the knob, unscrew either the one or 2 knobs at the bottom of the pole, look in there and line up your drill and drill the holes in the pole while its standing in the base, and then pull out the pole, if necessary, and further drill out the one or 2 holes where the knobs would tighten into the pole, and replace the pole in the base, then the knobs will screw all the way into the pole, and thus hold the pole in place, and stop the spinning.

    • @sandynielsen1098
      @sandynielsen1098  7 років тому +1

      Thank you for adding that detail. By drilling a hole into the pole that's spinning, you allow the 'tightening' screw to secure it since it now goes into the pole rather than just against the pole.

    put the umbrella post threw the hole of a square cinder block. you can stack as many blocks for weight.

    • @sandynielsen1098
      @sandynielsen1098  7 років тому +1

      Good idea - sounds like an easy, inexpensive umbrella base. Does it prevent the spinning?

  • @tdz69
    @tdz69 2 місяці тому

    Another easy fix…..drill a hole in the umbrella pole where the base knob bolt goes. Instead of tightening the knob AGAINST the pole, which never works to keep it from rotating….tighten the knob so the bolt end goes through the hole you made in the pole. It will lock it and stop the spinning.
