- Review of the Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia Mer-Man Figure that is part of the Masterverse Wave 14 series of figures and made by Mattel Toys. I also show parts swapping later in the review with other Mer-Man figures.
Merman looks nice. Definitely a more adult theme…very cool brother.

@geekillustratordad4982 Thanks for watching already! It's always appreciated, man! Oh, this is definitely the best Mer-Man made yet! Aside from the Mondo Mer-Man or the regular green Classics Mer-Man that go back to the vintage Nastalgia. But I absolutely love this Mer-Mans design and colors for the New Eternia series. The sword looks awesome! The bending rubber bothers me a bit. I'll fix it.

Odd how it feels like we didn't have enough Mer-Man figures but after seeing all the different variations, we did get a lot of Mer-Man figures so far. 😮

Yeah. The New Eternia figures are great. I'll probably sell the Revelations figures and replace them with these.

I saw another review of this figure and I just wasn’t feeling it. I think it’s the eyes that are throwing me off. At certain angles, the eyes look really weird…almost cross-eyed at times. Now that I’m seeing this figure up close, he’s growing on me a bit more. I’m a big fan of the Lords of Power look for Mer-Man, and this definitely borrows from that. I really like the head sculpt on the LoP Origins figure and the Classics figure. To me, those faces and “dead” eyes are perfect. These “glassy” eyes make him look a bit too expressive and more human than fish-like, which I think is what I’m not feeling. Just my honest opinion…I’m very clearly in a small minority on that, though.

Thanks for checking out my review as well! Honestly the eyes look incredible up close! I definitely tried my best to zoom and show the details clearly. They are tricky to look at from certain angles or far away because they look cross Eye or to glossy for that head. But up close they are perfect for that Mer-Man! Mattel put a lot of effort in that design instead of just paint! I think the Lord of Power inspired head sculpt also stands out very well for this New Eternia Mer-Man figure!
Nice! He will be my 'Mer-Man', and the others will be relegated to "Mer-Men". 😅 Definitely need to fix or replace the floppy sword though.
@@ZetZatar Same here! I gonna replace my other Mer-Man figures with this New Eternia Mer-Man instead. The others can be his soldiers. I put a piece of metal in that sword for now. Thanks for watching another review 🙏
I think it's pretty nice figure!The bronze armor is different but I like it.Awesome headsculpt.Only thing I might do is paint the lower belt thing to match chest armor.Think it would make it appear more full & not as slender.

How do you rate this with Classics Merman?
Thanks for checking out the review! I love the Classics figures because they have that vintage Nastalgic feel going back to the Origins figures but of coarse more Modernized. However, I really enjoyed this Masterverse line as well. I Rate the Classics Mer-Man 50/50 now against this New Eternia Mer-Man.
Good review but I can't get into this design. It looks like one of those AI interpretations of a He Man movie if it was made in the fifties.
@@JamesCurtisOKC Thanks for watching! Yeah my mind always has the vintage inspired or Classics design to be first choice or normal for the Motu series. But as I get older I'm starting to adapt to new designs of these iconic core characters in the newer Masters of the Universe series like Masterverse.
They probably made the sword and spear tip rubbery so kids don't poke their eyes out with pointy hard plastic.
Thanks for checking the review out! Yeah, the child safety standards could have something to do with the design of this sword. But these Masterverse figures are marked to older kids and adults. I have seen plenty of other Masterverse weapons that are also sword and very hard plastic. Maybe they thought using rubber would be better for the particular style of that thick bone blade on that sword.
He looks great! But I think I still prefer the classic Revelation one
Thanks for watching as always! Everyone has their own taste with certain looks and designs for many of these iconic Characters such as Mer-Man. I really like this new look for Mer-Man! But Revalation Mer-Man is also kind of cool.
Doesn’t he have double jointed knees? Only the top joint bends?
@MonstersOfTheUniverse Thanks for checking the review out. Yes, the knee joints are double jointed like most of the Masterverse figures largely. Mine are stuck at the top part. I had to heat them up so they would move better.
This might me by new favourite Mer-Man figure along with the MOTU Classics one. Superb ! Those eyes 👌

People seemed to be a little lukewarm when they showed the renders but I can definitely go for making this my main Merman. They really went ham on the colors and paint apps even if it's not exactly his traditional coloring. Someone over at Mattel is really keen on modernizing these characters. I have two cheap 1st release revelation mermen..I'll just make them henchmen.

This Mer-Man looks awesome for the New Eternia line. I'm also gonna keep my other Masterverse Mer-Man figures for henchmen as well!👍

Manchild! This may be one of the coolest Mer-Man figures ever. His head sculpt, eyes, loin cloth etc are all unique to New Eternia but at the same time it all felt specifically familiar. Almost like I owned this figure before. I just walked through my collection room and referenced all of my Mer-Man figures. The shape of the ears is so Filmation. The 3D eyes and sculpted chains on his loincloth is Mondo. The spikes from his armor protruding behind his neck along with the metallic blue gems on his chest and belt are clearly 200x as well as Revelation. The blue hue to his skin as well as the 2 points on his face plate above his eyes is early Alcala minicomic and cross cell art. I'm sure there are other details I'm missing but this is the ultimate amalgamation of every Mer-Man, ever. Absolutely brilliant, Mattel. 🔥👏
Thanks for watching as always! Yeah, I agree with all that info regarding the inspiration behind the final design for this Masterverse Mer-Man! I only have the Classics, Origins, and Masterverse Mer-Man figures. So I couldn't compare against those other versions you have in your collection. The details are all new to me! I can see some of the 200x and LOP inspiration as well as some Classics input. Overall, this is the perfect look and style for a Masterverse New Eternia Mer-Man!👍
@Themanchlid Yeah those are the main figures I looked at too. The hanging tassels from his belt - definitely Lords of Power which Alcala also illustrated in the first minicomics. I'm not sure what the inspiration was for the gun-metal color he's sporting on his shoulders and shin-guards, perhaps that's an added "New Eternia" element. I thought the spear looked familiar too, kinda looks like He-Man's spear from the first minicomic but Mer-Man- style. LOL. Great Mer-Man figure all around. What I love the most about many of these New Eternia figures is that if a MOTU Classics collector is missing a figure, then these are great substitutes and stand-ins.
@pop_motu_75 Yep, I agree! I also say the same thing about people who missed the Classics. The Masters are a good substitute for that line, depending on the figure, of course. Some are better than others. But the New Eternia line is probably the best with reimagined core figures that still have some Classic elements.
Best Mer-Man ever for me - and one of the best Masterverse figures. Totally awesome sculpt and paint.
