@@knackigbrot hey there, sorry about this, its an issue that popped up due to how the new shipping system works, its being worked on by the platform developer and they said they should have a fix soon.
I can imagine them going back to the second hand shelf, and the original painter walking by the shop and just thinking 'damn, I guess I was pretty good at painting afterall'.
I so wanna see more of this kinda rescue-restoration... where the original isn't paintstripped and lost forever, it's just cleaned up a little, neatened here and there. Takes a lot of skill to blend a new paintset into an existing one. I loved this so much, keeping the original paint and all just made my soul happy.
Really love the enthusiasm for these and the mad respect you gave to their previous owner. Love love love the bright colors and coastline look. God bless you and your little menz.
This is super encouraging to me: When I think about someone being skilled at the hobby or the like I'm worried they'll be able to x-ray in on my mistakes (they will, but thats okay). But this also reminds me that that equally comes with the abilitybto zoom in on whatever idea I had in mind, even if it isn't executed perfectly.
I love buying pre-owned miniatures to add to my blood angels chapter project. I especially love buying people's converted space marines to add to it. I love the idea of having these miniatures with a history I dont know about before finding their way into my army.
Excoriators are SO COOL. I'm turning my artist action figure one into one even though I play Dark Angels cause they're so cool. For those who don't know: Bone color armored space Marines. Seems boring right? Cool part: Only damage that reduces the functionality of their armor is repaired. The rest is left and labelled with when where and what happened. So they just have this scarred armor with "lasrifle wound m39 whatever sector" "hormagaunt claw .... Etc all over
I love used shelves at game stores. I've gotten so many models for my Orks and World Eaters, and even a lot for my less played armies. It's also nice to let friends know something they need is there too.
I think you did a great job of bring those bases to life, I'm sure that whoever owned these models would be very chuffed that you kept to their vision and were able to execute properly!
A top tip to get smooth white primer is to use an airbrush and put the PSI up a LOT even up to 30 or 40. It helps atomise. Also don't be afraid of more thinner than you think.
That's such a good nugget of information about the white spray primer. I think thats spot on it dries in the air before hitting the model. I always wondered why sometimes my primer was dusty
Every time EOB uploads I get super inspired and say “today’s the day, I will finally get my word bearers finished and they will look amazing” I sit down at my painting desk and remember why I lost motivation to finish the guys in grey
They look awesome. I love painting desaturated yellow. With guiliman coming in and changing up things with new units, who’s to say black Templar didn’t turn their “stealth recon” units into LOOK OVER HERE! Marines
On my most recent yellow marines (Infernus Squad), I've gone with a very bright, shining green for the eyelenses, and it looks gorgeous. Definitely worth trying if you keep going with making some more yellow boys. I can't give you the exact color, as I've been using a very cheap local store brand green for it - it has terrible coverage and needs 3-5 layers just to make for decent eyes, but the end result is wonderful. A good bright green would definitely make it easier.
I swear I've seen these exact minis at my FLGS that I game at in Wisconsin. Either that or someone had the same basing idea with the blue UV resin and cork. Beautiful Glowup for these models either way!
I’ve only played incursors in combat patrol, but it seems like they’re actually pretty decent in melee. Those double combat knives are better than I expected.
Yellow sounds Weird . But the painter had the idea and you did so good in painting them so well. Anyway, It is a nonsense but it worked. The marines in phobos armoire are so exceptionnal. The best in my opinion
Man, those are the cleanest most polished , shiny squeaky clean space marines in the galaxy, cant wait till they get some weathering and battle scarring. Those guys just stepped off the showroom floor, they look nice but way too new and perfect.
❤ the way you respect the origional. Our hobby is a journey ( with no fixed destination) and these might have fallen off at an earlier point, to be picked up by you and taken up just farther along. 👍💪💪
I love the yellow, it make them more generic sci-fi wich ironically in Warhammer make them less generic. Also saturated yellow + lavender is such an underrated combination
The Stormspeeder could look cool with more of a modern military paintjob (a desert cream or a dark grey) going through a thick cloud of dust (using polyester cushion stuffing or cotton)
What if that yellow glaze over the first layer of highlights was something like a florescent yellow (or a 50/50 mix of florescent and regular yellow) to try and give yourself a value jump without the de-saturation? Or some TMM gold highlights.
Since those Phobos guys are yellow and you are Black Templar player, you could always find explaination that they are squad of Unnumbered Sons of Dorn. You know, Greyshields, those fresh Primaris guys who haven't joined any chapter yet.
I always love seeing secondhand models rehabilitated. :D The yellow and blue color scheme makes me wonder if Craftworld Iyanden captured and impressed them into their service? :P
Ngl, I think a Storm speeder painted to match would look really good. Do a more elaborate base with the water splitting underneath and waves curling back in on themselves and a strip of the purple alien coral ground down the middle. I'm interpreting the landscape to not be super deep water but just kinda ankle deep viscous blue liquid everywhere.
100% was a contrast paint, not base+wash like you thought. That looks exactly like how the yellow contrasts perform, or how they have for me! Also, I literally JUST got an order from epic basing! Thanks for being such a positive inspiration to my hobby!
Could make them a special strike team sub division calling them the 'Templar Hornet Infiltration Division', they come out of no where, strike fast and sharp on alien worlds, leaving as fast as they arrived.
I don't like space marines but if I was to collect them I would definitely just have mixed chapters to suit each type of unit. Salamanders for flamers, Raven Guard for stealthy boys, Blood Angels for stabby boys etc I think each have their own charm and so should be used as such. Why just collect one chapter?
I do this with my marines. They're Alpha legion, so if I want to paint up my eliminators as Raven guard, it's totally cannon. 😜( They just cosplay as another chapter to confuse and obfuscate 😎)
Kinda had the idea of making roque trader salamander marines for if i have guest over that wanna play Killteam.. found a way to paint yellow with pink under it to make it pop but does anybody know if that works?

Jay you gotta do more videos like this! Pimp my Minis: finding second hand figures and just enhancing what the old owner intended
Super-sneaky stealth unit called "infiltrators"? Of course it's going to be painted in BRIGHT YELLOW on a purple planet! That's peak 40K, love it!
Nids must be colour blind. its like Deer that cant see Orange from Green
It makes sense, any one spots them, they just yell "YOU CANNOT SEE ME, XENO FILTH." and put the fear of the God Emperor into them.
Can’t see them if your eyes hurt just looking at them
@@PearlJam2k6 John Cena style? 😄😄😄👍
Truly some Imperial Fists logic in the best way possible.
Another EoB W. Jay did it again. Instead of insulting and dunking a secondhand model's paintjob, he kept it positive as usual.
I've been in a bit of a painting funk these past few weeks, but Jay, your enthusiasm, is rubbing off.
Tonight, we paint!
keep it up
Wish my miniature shop had used minis too
I love watching as Jay goes from being avid black templars to slowly slipping to just painting space marines whatever colours.
That's how it always goes. I know I started with exclusively Kill Teams and now I have an entire army because I just kept finding cool minis.
Really love the enthusiasm for these and the mad respect you gave to their previous owner. Love love love the bright colors and coastline look. God bless you and your little menz.
This is the sort of thing I hope someday when I'm gone someone picks up my minis and keeps them going. People like you who do this are awesome.

I agree, that is awesome. However, Alpha Legion minis are actively infiltrating your army 😂
You could totally turn those into imperial fists and get a small Last wall protocol detachment to go with your black Templars.

Gritty primer can also happen in very dry air. I had to rework some Cadians who got a sandpaperlike finish when I primed in the middle of summer.
I absolutely love these rescue videos! Please make a lot more of them

Ah yes, Luminous yellow, the most stealthy of colours.
You dont need to be stealthy when you are walking cover.
Luckily the space marines are still broken and op

Hey Jay, I think those are Marines Malevolent.
And they are awesomely done
The best chapter for cool kids eho can actually party
I don't believe they are, normally the Marines malevolent have a black torso and yellow pauldrons
That leather looks like gryph-hound orange. I used it on my Beastmen. I think it's one of those single-pigment formulations.

i want to say thank you , this video gave me the perfect idea for my iron warriors. A siege batlle along tthe beach a bit like d-day

What brand of UV resin do you use? Everything I've tried turns yellow and shrinks on curing.
Who needs to be sneaky when you're a walking tank?
When you were drilling the side holes on the gun, the dude looked like was facepalming
I think a good 1950s hot rod color scheme could help a stormspeeder...
