That is my favorite of the 2020 releases as well. I do wish it had the red Alpinist on the dial, but then I wish all the new ones at least had that wording on the dial. I'm glad you called out that the Alpinist has been a part of Prospex for a long time, because people seem to not know that. It does make sense that they want some uniform branding of the model lines, and I like the X logo. I just also want the Alpinist on there. I am wearing my SPB089 blue Alpinist on a Strapcode Super-O at the moment, which I love. I know a lot of people would be upset, but I would love if it was 1-1.5mm bigger. It would be proportionally perfect on my 7.25" wrist (I'm also ~2M tall) with a tiny increase. The only downside (besides cost) of the original red Alpinist is it's even smaller at 37mm, which I wouldn't like. It'd be fine on a 6.5in wrist though! This new red Alpinist is the only one I could justify as different enough from my current one to also own. I know that doesn't stop the Alpinist collectors from having many different models, which is cool for them too.
Beautiful. It's my favorite one. But, my eyesight is not so good and the dial seems barely legible. Could you confirm if there is difficulty in viewing in low light?
The closest GS Alpinist would be the RED ALPINIST from the 90s with the high grade vintage movement derived from 5200 Caliber. Once the 6R came they moved the 4S to high end Credor brand
Spring drive is a quartz/mechanical movement that's less accurate than a $2 quartz movement. It makes no sense Mechanical watches are an antiquated technology, and a marvel of engineering. Putting anything electrical in a mechanical watch defeats the purpose of owning one
Seiko say it themselves in their website: quartz +/- 10s per YEAR spring drive (quartz regulated mechanical) +/- 1 sec per DAY (ie +/- 360s per YEAR) They made a quartz watch that's up to 36x less accurate and more complicated than a cheap quartz watch. I have a Seiko on my wrist right now, and I'm still happy to say it's ridiculous. If you want a marvel of engineering, buy a mechanical watch
I love the Alpinist line, and have the 017. I like it in black BUT do not care for that logo, do not care for the magnifier. And NO color-matched date wheel? Why Seiko...why? Thanks for the detailed And honest review!
Black is more versatile for a everyday use. The green is good for a bigger collection with many black dials. Both are awsome and you not regret your pick
Yeah I’m still thinking of the glacier blue, but this was a good way to see how it fit etc. too bad about the caseback. Why even show that pedestrian looking movement? So since you brought it up a lot, why have they gone for a lower quality one in this new one over the previous one you were fawning over? Great review. Nice to see one up close
It's a mystery why. My guess is age or costs. 4S now discontinued compares to a top grade eta 2892. What seiko's new 6L does as well. But 6L is only in two watches...too new. But a gem movement.
Al-pin-eest! Nice, but no cigar! Prospex logo proper clashes on the Alpi. Lack of orientation lume at 12 is still poor. Not a huge cyclops fan. But, still a great watch - super practical and versatile. And for the money? What else seriously competes? Ah, the Seiko 5! One of Seiko's best new watches - wish they'd make an upscale version of it! Best thing? NO PROSPEX LOGO!
Can you please clear my doubts as I'am planning to get the same model. How often this watch needs to be serviced or doesn't need servicing like Seiko 5 for decades ? Thanks
Good question! They wear similar, the sarb033 I think is more classy and dressier this alpinist has a tool watch vibe and looks but with a touch of class. quality wise they are about the same i'd say.
Red Alpinist didn't have the cyclops. It also was a little bit small and flimsy for what you'll pay for today. This is a great modern update and better to own for peace of mind.
Check out my Instagram my red alpinist had the Cyclops. Or do a Google search reference SCVF005 to see that the red Alpinist did indeed come with a cyclops.
I own the green one for nearly 2 years and wear it everyday. Love it
Baby alpinist in that colorway would be an absolute banger!
Wonderful review video. The best enthusiast alpinist review video I've watch to date. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!

I took a deep breath, inhale, exhale. Thanks for featuring that watch. As alway, very excellent video.
Glad you enjoyed it
I agree this watch should have come with a high beat movement such as the 6r27 which is the modern version of the 4s35.
you just know they'll release a limited edition red alpinist, with steel caseback and mountain logos. it will be glorious.
You were right my friend. Of course no steel case back. Seiko can’t give you perfection. 😂
Absolutely beautiful! Perfect specs and size! Amazing dial too! This or the Hamilton Khaki Automatic 38mm?
This! as much as the khaki is the king of field I'm not to big on it personally. I'm getting a boldr 38mm field in soon to review.
@@EscapementWatch thanks, I think I’ll get the Alpanist instead. Absolutely love the Boldr too, you got great taste!
Seiko should make a "Grand Seiko Alpinist" with Spring Drive movement.
The closest GS Alpinist would be the RED ALPINIST from the 90s with the high grade vintage movement derived from 5200 Caliber. Once the 6R came they moved the 4S to high end Credor brand

Happy Easter FT and to all, nice peice. Still loving my 1959 hodinkee Alpinist. Thanks FT 😉
I would’ve loved lume on the indices
my one hang up on this watch or i would have one by now.
Of course is the Alpinist logo, the see-thru back just add more into the thickness.
And an ugly movement to adding unnecessarily to the thickness.
I need help. Im in a dilemma between the ghost and the black. 😅
i wonder if an experiment had been made in regard of how fast someone can tell the time in function of different indices styles
interesting, i'd wager Type-B flieger would be fastest!
Can this bracelet fit a 6 inch wrist?

Thanks for Watching and input!
Struggling to choose between the green and this black. Somebody tell me what to do lol
try both on in a store... you'll know for sure when you see on your wrist
Black is more versatile for a everyday use. The green is good for a bigger collection with many black dials. Both are awsome and you not regret your pick
I wish you could get the white dial version with a bracelet strap

@@EscapementWatch if you want hi beat these days, you're into the GS range, they had a wonderful idea of value for money back in the 90's!
Happy Easter bro !! Keep the great content. 👌🏻
Thanks! You too!

Thanks
7-10 years on average. Any local watchmaker can service this movement easily for 100 bucks.
@@EscapementWatch thanks man. That's a very relieving answer. Now i will buy the watch with confidence 🙂
Denmark 250 dollars
Hey bud, is this watch worth buying?
Any watch is worth buying if you love it really.
Another great review Falling Titan! How do you think this compares to the SARB033?
Good question! They wear similar, the sarb033 I think is more classy and dressier this alpinist has a tool watch vibe and looks but with a touch of class. quality wise they are about the same i'd say.
What’s that Seiko Sport 40mm (Prospex)? I haven’t seen it before.
He changed the original dial out to an aftermarket one
Would be awesome if you would include the weight in grams
I thought I do that in all my videos I didn't do that in this one
147gms according to Seiko website.
Dark dial with white date wheel. C’mon man!
Red alpinist lumed indices are way more liable. Bad mojo for this new aplinist
Who ever was so drunk as he ll to call it al pine ist is a drunken Australian

We can call the new versions with no compass the Alpinist. These versions with the compass we can call the Compinist.
Nice watch. Too much hyperbole in the monologue.
Al - Arabic word for The
Pinist -????
The bracelet isn't good. Seiko does not make good bracelets.
Yeah you're saying it wrong lol it's al-PINE-ist, also not "di-viss-ife" it's di-vice-ive. All is good though, you do you
