    For solid material, i always scale them separately using the plastic scale kinda bowl( normally included in the scale box ) before adding them into the actual fomula beaker. Accuracy is the key

    I've made the formula and it is not too bad. What bugs me a bit, is the high amount of Veramoss. Very likely there is Veramoss and Oakmoss in it, to give it a bit more depth. Regarding the cosmic amount of Hedione, to me it makes not too much sense, but that is probably because I barely can smell it. I register the effect of Hedione though, but to get that, I won't need a whopping 30% (or more, without the solvent).
    So, eventually, I predominantly smell Veramoss and honestly, it doesn't catch me too much. But the core seems to be a nice base for building up another perfume on it. So I most likely will play around a bit, modify it or taking the core and bring it to another direction. Maybe working on a nice saffron accord to put in.
    What also makes me wonder is the whopping price of more than USD300 for 70ml!! So, what?!? I understand that they use real saffron essence and most expensive Jasmine absolute. But do they really? And even if so, it still doesn't justify the price to me. Well, most of the brand perfumes do not really justify their price to me, to be honest ...

    Thank you so much for the videos. I know it takes time to put them together amd we love it.
    My question is on the BR540 video, does the 377 grams of ipm count towards dilution? Meaning do I just top it off with perfumers alcohol to get 30% or is ipm all you are using for dilutions?
    Thank you
    Nathan

    • @RyanParfums
      @RyanParfums  22 дні тому

      If I were to make the concentrate alone, the IPM would be its own ingredient in the formula, counted as part of the concentrate.
      When I make batches using pre-diluted materials, I will usually remove all other solvents, as the ethanol in the dilutions usually takes care of dissolving the solids.

    Hi, Ryan! How are you?
    My cis-jasmone doesn’t have a floral, fresh and jasmine smell… it’s heavy, oily, green and a little rancid (and I can see an celery note, but it’s a lot rancid for me). Can it be considered expired or something? 😢

    • @RyanParfums
      @RyanParfums  Місяць тому

      I get a similar vibe from cis-jasmone: Oily, green, a little weird. However, it embodies an aspect of Jasmine. Similar to how Benzyl Acetate doesn't smell like Jasmine, only an aspect of it. The rancid note... mine doesn't have that. Your material may be past expiration :-)

    Hi, can I ask you why in all these perfumes EOs are rarely used but mainly synthetic compounds? I mean for Jasmin here could be used a Jasmine essential oil or absolute ? Is that just a choice of price? (Sorry for the question I'm a beginner)

    • @RyanParfums
      @RyanParfums  27 днів тому

      Perhaps for a couple reasons. The first is quality control. EOs supply can vary year to year, and quality can vary. ACs help to control consistent formulation quality over time. And the second is price. Jasmine, Rose, Sandalwood, etc are very expensive. I’d also add that in some cases, one may want a rose note, but adding rose oil would be too much for the formula, so perhaps citronellol and PEA are added instead. Some essential oils that aren’t so expensive are used a lot: bergamot, patchouli, vetiver, cedarwood…

    Hi Ryan! newbie question, what is the purpose of adding IPM or DPG to perfumes, can't Ethanol just be used? and when adding DPG or IPM as well are you not worried regarding it's expiration which is 1-2 years?

    • @RyanParfums
      @RyanParfums  2 місяці тому +1

      Typical perfume formulas never include ethanol. Any solvents needed to dissolve solids will be IPM, DPG, DEP, etc. For our purposes, generally speaking, you don’t need those solvents if you’re using ethanol and diluted materials. Like everything in life, there is nuance required on this topic.
      Also, in general, I am aware of material expiration. I’ve had a few materials expire and have had to replace them.

    Hello Ryan, new to your channel and a new subscriber also :)
    I'm new to the perfumery world, collecting now my first supplies and soon buying my first aromas and naturals.
    In the formula that you are sharing, the amounts on the left are different than what you're putting in your blend i know that you're blending a smaller Batch but i couldn't do the maths.
    how it is divided ?
    I appreciate your time and effort :)

      I will likely do a video on this soon. I get so many questions and emails about this. In short, how do you convert a formula for a 1000 gram batch into a 10 gram batch? How do you convert a formula for a 10 gram batch into an 8 gram batch?
      I use a GREAT app called Formulair. If you have a Mac or an iPad, it's an amazing app for perfumery. Otherwise using excel or google sheets might help with conversions.
