  • The Omega Flightmaster is a big, chunky aviation chronograph.

I've got one of these old things. I got it in about 1974 ish. After many years of wearing it I sent it back to Omega Switzerland for a complete overhaul that cost me £1,100. It was worth about £300 at the time but after the service it came back in mint - new condtion even paint restored on the buttons. According to adds etc. its valued at about £3000 - £4000 but no one wants them. An old dinosaur of a watch that sits in my safe never to be worn again. When I die my kids will probably sell it on ebay for £20 if they are lucky.

Hello Marc, the references 145.013 and 145.026 are water resistant 60 meters, the reference 145.036 is water resistant 120 meters, greetings, great video.

@tacfoley I think 1971 must have been the transitional year between 145.026 and 145.036. Going by the movement serial number mine's defo 1971 but my cousin says he bought it off a guy in '73 so 71-72 makes sense as the time you could have seen both styles for sale.

Erm ... I think I'm gonna quarrel with your ID of the movement as 901. The first Flightmaster movement was numbered cal. 910, pretty quickly followed by 911, which will be what yours (and my own, incidentally) is. The 910 face had a twelve-hour AM/PM dial indicator in the 9:00 position, split into green and black halves 12:6. This turned out not to be useful, as well as engendering complaints about the lack of a second hand on the face. Omega responded by introducing the 911, replacing the AM/PM indicator with a running second hand.
I just finished waiting through almost a year's worth of repair, hampered by the pandemic making parts hard for the watchmaker to get, and now have my father's 145.036 cal. 911 from 1971 running happily along.

Marc...do you have a Breitling Navitimer? I know you like big watches. I've got the 46 mm newer model, with the applied gold logo, came on a black croc strap with deployment buckle. I bought a thick custom strap from The Strap Smith. This guy makes amazing, but pricy custom straps......anyway he made me a WW2 leather strap from an ammo pouch. It's all thick leather, distressed, with stitch holes, black marks etc.....cool as hell. Really looks great on my Navitimer. I've heard black dial watches don't compliment brown straps, but screw that. These smudgy brown antique ammo straps, with black distressed marks......compliments the black Navitimer dial.
