How to disengage Velux top hung springs (new version)

I am a professional builder of 30 years, without this video, I don’t know what i would have done. The first attempt to disengage the springs resulted in a broken screwdriver and mangled knuckles. Oh VELUX are great at silly little videos and instructions online and daft little pictures with smiley faces, what they don’t say is that the design has changed and you can’t release the springs with a screwdriver and you poor muppets will just have to struggle your balls off on a roof with a hole in it trying to figure out what we cleaver f…s have come up with. The second one I unboxed the springs were already engaged and without having seen your easy release video, again I would have been s….d.
Thanks for taking the time to post this, I am sure you have saved a awful lot of people a load of stress and hassle, Where did you mange to find out how to release the springs by lifting the tabs up? If you don’t mid me asking. You’re a Top man and a big thank you for the heads up.
Thanks mate 👍 well as it happens I have another video where I had to use a screwdriver to release the springs because I messed up taking the sash out before fitting the frame. I also was only aware of the old style and thought velux had forgotten to put the bar in. A few months later I came across an actual velux video showing the updated mechanism and how to release it. It's a poorly executed video and isn't search engine optimized otherwise I would have found it before. So I made this video, so it can actually help people like us 🙌 although I'm not a builder, I don't have a trade, I just have a go

Hi mate I had the same problem as in your first video that the springs were engaged and had to release them as you did so cheers for that. Now got the issue that the window is in but springs won't activate and not sure what position these H brackets got to be in? Any help much appreciated
The H plates need to be pushed down to lock in the spring (they do this automatically anyway when you lift the window back up). Lift up the window as much as you can, there is abit of force needed for the last bit. It feels like it won't go up any more but it will and then you'll hear the springs crack into place

@@aragon1ize are you saying you can't close the window once the springs have engaged at the top?
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT Hi I don't know if the springs are engaged I did all just like you said but I could only hear crack of breaking frame almost
@@aragon1ize yeah that's what it sounds like. The springs are engaged when it holds itself up
Velux is utter bullshit, every other "how to" is for one person only and that's impossible to do in real life.
This simple hacks is awesome!
