Hi I am hopefully about to save one of these engines it is attached to a generator was used as a backup supply for an early IT server. What oil is used and what type of oil filter will work on it. The thing probably hasn't ran for 40 to 50 years but I gave it a wiggle on the crank handle and it's not seized probably as it's sat on the third floor of an office block it's whole life nice and warm away from rain and elements. Hopefully it should have no more than a few hours on it so apart from fresh oil and a clean out of the fuel system I am hoping it's nearly new inside so will only need a clean up as paint is in good condition.
@@woofbark4475 Not yet it's safe in storage didn't realise it's been 2 years since I commented I had gotten it, I need to drag it out and have a play with it.
Hi, Great to see your video of how a ST1 should start/run. I am a diesel beginner. Recently I acquired a small dumper (winget 2s) with a Lister ST1 engine. This seems to have fairly suddenly and consistently started burning oil (blue smoke from exhaust) and before this a black deposit was expelled through the exhaust. Performance wise it seems to lack power in the slightest of inclines (stall induced if in second gear unloaded). Is there a general, rule of thumb, diagnostic process, common faults list etc to determine my best approach? (Other than a complete overhaul 😢) GT Hampshire
hello Gordon Tomes, blue smoke cause by fuel nozzle not fully atomize the fuel. There are 3 tiny hole on the nozzle clean the blockage with a spring steel you can find in an old CD rom drive. DO NOT USE NEDDLE TO CLEAN THE BLOCKAGE, NEEDLE WILL BRAKE CAUSE MORE TROUBLE. Hope this will help.
hello, i work on simulation of engine using the Lister petter ST1. I need the the geametry dimensions of: piston, inlet -exhust valve , and authers. possible to give me information about. if yes i send you email in detail. regards .

Did you end up getting this engine going?

Does this smoke actually smell oily? Blue smoke can be either oil (usually on run up) OR a badly atomized/timed injection.
Send us sperparts for these engine Zambia
