Not an exact copy, but Steam has a demo for Hotel Magnate at the moment - lots of demos for fun games are out! I think James would really enjoy some and giving smaller devs some coverage is always good. Hotel Magnate and Recipe for Disaster are two fun builders I tried today!
9:00 hey james, there's a new thing for storages and deliveries called scanner machines (and monitors) that scan for contraband, you can use those instead of the metal detectors.
I feel like James' sarcastic, "yeah, thanks BUDDY!" is the centre of the Venn diagram that is Australian and Canadian passive aggressiveness and I'm here to support this.
Hey, your prisoners are showering and living in the holding cell, because you have cell quality rating turned on. This means if all the cells are rated to high for what the prisoner deserves they get thrown in the holding cell and usually get really unhappy. If you plan on making all the cells the same, than I suggest turning the cell ratings off (you can toggle it in the policy tab). Loved the video
I know you've played it many times before, but you've seen to forgotten some things and a lot has changed since you last played it. Thought a reminder might help!
OMG I think you just fixed my game 😂 I hadn’t even thought about that but I have a bunch of prisoners who won’t leave the holding cell and it’s been ruining things by causing them to riot. Thank you, Elaine!
Love this series! Thank you for all your hard work and effort you give into your videos, James! As for the prisioners looking untidy, maybe its because they dont have a laundry room?
Cool video. some tips: - The canteen doesn't need radiators, the cookers will produce heat which will automatically radiate to the canteen. Your prisoners are also in there for just 4 hours a day. Your staff doesn't need heat because you have staff needs disabled. - Phone booths can be used in either the yard or the common room, but it will only improve a common rooms grade. - barred windows can also be used to transfer heat from rooms to adjacent rooms. - I'm not 100% sure but the tv's in the cells are only for decoration now in the current setup, they cannot be used by prisoners to decrease their entertainment need because it requires a chair or sofa in front of the tv. They cannot watch tv from their beds. - Computer stations in common rooms will help decrease the prisoners literature need. No need for a library necessarily. - Downside about the infirmary being freely accesible by prisoners is that they will steal contraband from it. Putting a checkpoint in place where prisoners are forced to walk through when they leave the infirmary will combat this. - The yard is pretty secure except people can throw contraband over your walls at the delivery and garbage area because it's in open air and less than 7 tiles away from it. Putting a roof over these areas will fix it. - The reception like that with just two doors and a straight path to freedom is a bad idea.
Not sure if you did and it just got cut during editing, but put some sprinklers and drains in the power plant, because like you say... It blows up. Lol. I surround it with drains (under the transformers) so that the water goes away before it can make it blow up from the whole power+water thing. Because it's always fun when a firefighter comes and puts out a small fire and ends up making the power explode...
The boilers caught me out, their range varies depending on what type of cold water pipe they're connected to. You can't just put all your boilers in the utility room with everything else and they do need to be strategically placed around the prison to ensure full coverage.
@@Palitato Supermax is for the worst of the worst , no freedom in supermax , no good food , if you even complain about the prison system they use , they are gonna put you in solitary , and some beatings too you still got the death row for the worst but torture is worse then dying
@@benjaminbryant2601 You definitely need med or maybe even max security prisoners because both education programs take quite some time to complete and are hard to complete as well... It still took ages tho 😂
I noticed that when I placed the drinks machine in the canteen, I kept getting warnings about high levels of contraband. It turns out that they can use the drinks to make alcohol with the green dlc so I was effectively selling them drinks and stealing them back and punishing them for it. I didn't even have any gardens active. I wish I could toggle it off but it is a really funny feature lol.
How I used to design prisons, chaotic, on-the-fly, seat-of-my-pants as I go :P I plan a lot better now though after playing for awhile. You really need to think about the layout of your prison and where traffic will be heaviest (if you don't and your comp isn't great, you will start to lag as your prison gets bigger), transfers and needs for wing design, how to handle contraband areas, etc.
Kitchen should have a storeroom for kitchen. The storeroom is open for the prisoners during their late work hour, the staff deliver the food to the fridge.
You got the colors wrong Psycho is Pink, Supermax is Maroon, Maximum Security is Red, General is Orange, Work Detail is Green or Blue, Death Row is White, Low Risk is Tan, Khaki, Yellow, or Camo, Burgundy or those in Denim is those who are on a admin hold pending parole or release, and Stripes is anyone on transfer hold.
The wall in the grassy area next to solitary is a security issue. Prisoners will try to climb over them when you have Escape Plans enabled (which you do). I know you’ll want to expand up that way anyway, but a temporary fix is to add barbed wire to the wall to try to discourage them from trying to escape. Another hack I’ve found to help stop this is to build a 1x wide foundation instead of just a plain wall because if the prisoners think it’s a room, they can’t escape from it... unless they fixed that bug now I’m not sure :)
Admins shouldn’t have to walk through the prison yard to get to their offices. Move the holding cell and showers to the left and make the west edge of that wing a hallway down to the offices
I always start with the perimeter walls to center everything then in the front I build offices, holding cell, reception Ect then in the perimeter I build utilities then cell’s buildings, then conveniences
i want to see a prison based off of Norway's prison system. giving their prisoners really good treatment and actually trying to reform them other than keeping them in jail for the rest of their lives as slaves
There was a large period of time when Introversion had "finished" the game and they only did bug fixes. It wasn't for a while after that Paradox bought them and started creating new DLCs
If you're trying to do's a jail for a second chance maybe make a section of the jail dedicated to people that you feel who are low security risk have luxury cells that way they feel you know comfortable knowing that they're going to be free soon
Wish there was hotel version of this game.
This is an idea and a half 👌👌

You could maybe turn the cleaning cupboard room into a morgue, since it's right next to the infirmary and close to the entrance
It makes no difference how close it is to the infirmary, but being close to the road does.
It's extremely rare prisoners die in the infirmary.
I was thinking the same.
This is one of my favorite games to watch you play, so glad it’s back!

Oooh good to know. Island Bound is the only DLC I don't own 🤦🏻♀️
Guess I need to change that fact, because contraband is just the worst.
