First off, I have to say this is a great watch. I have had my watch for almost 8 years. I'm one of those guys that is tough on things. I do wood working and am in different situations that the watch get banged and bumped on things. I say that basically you can't hurt this watch and the crystal or ( face ) looks almost as good as the day I bought it. I think it is one of the most under rated watch out there. We just came back from a cruise. I also have an apple watch that I wore a lot to track my walking and steps. I had my Citizen watch put away in darkness for just over two weeks. I took it out of the packaging and within seconds it was the perfect time. Thank you for producing such a great watch.
Just wanted to come here and voice my appreciation for this watch and the company that supports it - this is an excellent, clear, well-thought video. I've worn this watch (stainless steel version) day in and day out for over 5 years and I have a physically active job, but the watch face still looks as new as the day I bought it with only tiny scratches on the brand. I've never once had to worry about the battery, timekeeping, water damage, or cosmetic appearance (I truly am in awe at how impervious the sapphire is to scratching). Brendan is on target! I have had my Titanium Version for several years as of 2022. BEST WATCH I HAVE EVER OWNED! No scratches on the crystal. Minor scuffing on the titanium band. Titanium case looks new. Since I am 71 this could be my last watch! I had a $300 coupon from E-Bay the day I bought my watch from a store in New York. I have done business with them in the past. Got a great watch at a great price. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.
I had left my watch in the watch box (which doesn’t see sunlight) for well over a year. I put the watch in the window for a day, followed this guide, and I’m back to correct time!
I've had this watch for 13 years and it's still rocking strong.. I did change the battery last year.. Normally you would replace it every 10 years or so... put the new battery in and here it's going for another decade.. great watch!
My watch was resetting every morning in the LAX time zone to 45 mins early. I am sooooo glad I found this video. My day of the week was also 180 degrees off so I couldn't see what day it was. I called amazon for help and they just told me I must have gotten it too close to a magnet and broke it. This video should start off going to 8:16 the CHR setting to RESET all hands on the watch BEFORE setting anything!!! I finally did this and found out that all my hands were wrong. I must have turned the watch to CHR at some point a long time ago messing up the factory settings or it was never really set properly. Now my watch work exactly as it should.
This comment needs to be pinned at the top...before doing anything in this video we need to reset the watch and you're right it should start at the time you stated. I also wasn't able to figure out how to set the day. Thanks for your comment 👍
@@Rolly_951 5 years later I had to rewatch this again to reset my watch. Strange that all the hands were off and each night it would reset the time and be like 90mins off or so. So somehow the hands loose calibration. Probably from a hard shock or drop.
This has become my favorite watch. It does have some complexity to it that requires a learning curve. I was able to set it up the first time I tried following the written instructions. It took me about 5-10 minutes. I spent several years in the military, and I am use to following step by step instructions for complex equipment. Setup of this watch is not that difficult if you follow the instructions carefully step by step and take your time. If following written instructions is not your thing, I’ve heard that the Citizen help number is all it takes, and they will walk you through the setup over the phone.
This is a very nice watch. In order to NOT get FRUSTRATED with it you must first understand that it is more than a mere watch. It is a sophisticated time piece. Therefore TAKE the time to get familiar with the instructions!
Excellent video. It worked great for me. I would recommend you review the "All Reset Procedure" (8:17 on the timer bar) FIRST!! My second hand and the 60 minute hand were miss-calibrated. I went through the entire procedure before I realized that I SHOULD HAVE gone through the "All reset procedure" FIRST!! After calibrated, I had to go through the entire time setting procedure a second time. After I pressed the crown in, I noticed that I was 4 minutes slow. Went back in and reset the minutes only, then pressed in the crown for the final time. Watch works great.
You sir are a god !! I left my watch in a draw and it died thought i would have to take it in to a shop to be fixed but found you many thanks for this YOUR THE BEST :)
I live in an area in South Florida where the radio-controlled signal from Colorado is very weak at best. As such, I have to manually correct the second-hand to adjust the watch to perfectly accurate time. While I don't see anything specific to second correction in the video, it's actually quite simple with this watch. Follow the instructions up to the 1:02 mark. When the narrator says "the time may now be set," the second hand moves to the 12:00 mark. (Straight up.) At that point, assuming you have set the minute correctly, just push the crown back in at the precise second (as seen through time.gov, for example) and the watch is set perfectly. Hope this helps anyone else who has a weak atomic time signal.
Thank god for this video, just follow it.... i recommend doing the reset first though, then zero positioning. Then set your date and time. Be patient this is a bit involved but it is a great watch!!
Very concise video. Solved a lot a problems I was having when I did the reset procedure. Now my watch performs like new again. Citizen is one of my favorite watch brands & has been for years.
This is a great watch. I own 2 Eco Citizen time-pieces. Just awesome. No batteries to ever deal with. Some Citizens become rare collectors items. I think that I have one. All white ceramic , very flat like the old Movado style. Can't find another one anywhere.

There is a thing on this movement, where, if you change the DST setting, you could end up with the automatic adjustment turning off. The manual says you need a reset to correct this. Not saying this is your issue, just noting that it's a possibility.
Michael Bauers a bit late, but it’s exactly as you said: as soon as you use manual time setting, auto sync is turned off. Only way to restore auto sync is to reset the watch.

I have had my watch run low a few times. I just put it on the window sill in the sun and check back on it a day later and everything is automatically set. I have never once had to manually set the date/time.
In case anyone has trouble setting the minute hand for the alternate time-zone (A-TM), you have to first correct set the time for LONDON(LON) then you can just set the offset. Escaped me until i thought about it a little, in case it will help someone.
Been a while since I've worn my watch, I sent it in for repair when the battery died a few years ago and the day and date settings hadn't worked properly since, completely forgot about the all reset
I have the titanium version of this watch. For the past two years, it was self adjusting according to the daylight savings time in my location in California without my intervention, but this March it failed to automatically adjust (ie. turn on) daylight savings time. I wonder what could have caused this malfunction since I did not pull out the crown for several years and so nothing should have changed its settings. I hate having to do a complete and very time consuming reset to enable that feature.
Had my watch for about 8 years. The first couple of years it changed time during DST. For the last 5 years, I have had to adjust it manually. Now I have to adjust DST on and off every year to reflect DST. Could someone explain to me if I'm doing something wrong? Thanks for your help.
@@rustynut1958 This probably occurred because the DST setting was inadvertently changed somehow when you were accessing other functions. The only way I found that could fix it was to do a complete reset, but that would entail a lot of time and effort. You'd have to realign the hands after a reset. Maybe it wouldn't be worth the hassle and just live with it by selecting a different time zone.
I really need help! Im having trouble with the day change... It seems like my watch is not properly ''adjusted?'' I guess... I don't know how to explain it really...
I am having issues with my date function. Presently we are in 2023, August 9th. We are in leap year 3. Everytime I set the date, the next 24 hours the date jumps forward 2 or 3 days forward. Can anyone help me with this issue? All other settings are fine. Thank you!
My watch is one minute behind after this long and arduous process of setting up the watch, probably because the minute hand was not placed accurately, something which would never pass quality control with a Swiss watch!
My watch keeps updating itself to be 10 minutes slow, nothing I do will get it to show the correct time. Had it 5 years 1 month, so literally a couple of weeks out of warranty!
Had the same problem until I got my head around the MASTER RESET concept. Perfect now. My house has steel interior wall studs so the watch likes to sit on a window sill facing the time signal which is north east from my location.
at the end of this video it will walk you through the zero reset process. Perform the zero reset and then return to the beginning of the video and set the time, date, ETC. The watch will need to have a 100% charge before you can reset the watch.
I used the watch to received a radio signal and the watch automatically captured the correct time and date....... I never had to set anything. Do I still need to set the time manually?
It doesn't. It has 4 time zones you can choose from; UTC, US East coast, US Midwest, US West coast ( AKA London, Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles as seen on the watch.) Someone above mentioned using the reference setting procedure, which aligns the hands, to apply an offset to one of the set time zones. And of course the radio sync will only work in some places in the world. There are world time watches, which are probably a better option for some people, that have many time zones as options.
One option, but they are very expensive, are the Citizen Sattelite Wave watches, who's time can be set via GPS ( I think it's GPS.) They probably work worldwide. Or just get a non radio/non sat watch, with quartz time keeping, which is probably good for +/-10s per month
There seems to be a flaw with this watch.. I cannot see how to roll forward or back by 1 minute.. I have never lived in a radio controlled area, and after 8 years, the time has gone out by a few minutes... can't seem to roll foward or back in minute intervals... help ??
First put the watch to a timezone like London or New York and set the time for that time zone. After that put the watch back to alternative time mode which is ATM (assuming you are not living in one of the time zones available on the watch) and then set the time for that time zone. The reason that it only moves by 15 minutes at alternative time mode is because between each time zones in the world it is always 15 minutes is the least difference in between.
Girl please. Try and use your brain. Try to focus on what he's saying. Pretend it's school and you have to listen to the teacher. Stop getting distracted ignoring the teacher. Stop thinking of your own stuff. Listen carefully and understand it. And if you didn't understand it, rewind the video and listen again. Like seriousl, girl this is soooo basic. They even got different sections in the video so you only need to watch the function you want to set. Stop being dumb, like seriously girl, what's wrong with you?
Oh and at the end of the video there's an "all reset" and "zero positioning" thing. You probably need to do that one if you let the watch run down completely. Cos now the internals are all misaligned and you gotta recalibrate it. Girl it's freaking easy. Stop stressing over basics
@@marioluigi9599 Thanks for the instructions. However, I am male. I looked at a UA-cam video that said there is some sort of battery inside that made need to be replaced!
@@charliebarber7658 what do you mean "some sort of battery". Obviously there's a battery inside, girl, else how is it gonna store the charge that it gets from the sunlight? Have you tried leaving it out on a sunny window sill all day long to charge?
Why do you have to set the time when you are in a radio controlled time zone? Shouldn't it be automatic? When I set it to a time zone it's the wrong time.
The watch needs to be set for the time it is in so that when the signal is received, if needed, the watch can correct itself. If you are setting the watch to a time zone and the time is incorrect, this is usually a sign that the watch needs an all reset. The all reset function is used to clear the watches memory so the time can be correctly set. Once the all reset is completed, then you can manually set it for the correct time, day and date. Then when changing time zone on the watch, the time will be correct. If you need assistance with this, please contact our customer care department directly. When calling the representative will need to know the exact model number or case back number to your watch. The model number would begin with two letters followed by four digits a dash two more digits and a letter. (i.e. AX1234-56B). Or, the caseback number is located on the back of the watch and begins with four characters, a hyphen, followed by six to seven characters (i.e. B023-S123456). Our Customer Care Department may be reached at (800) 321-1023, Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 5:00pm Pacific Time. I hope this information is useful. Have a great day. Tamara L.

Where to fix this issue u r store in milton ontario
In case anyone has trouble setting the minute hand for the alternate time-zone (A-TM), you have to first correct set the time for LONDON(LON) then you can just set the offset. Escaped me until i thought about it a little, in case it will help someone.
thank you so much
Why is this so bloody complicated? I thought the whole point of a radio controlled watch was that it sets itself automatically, no?
Thank you so much you sabes my watch!!!!
Very detailed. Thank you!
Been a while since I've worn my watch, I sent it in for repair when the battery died a few years ago and the day and date settings hadn't worked properly since, completely forgot about the all reset
Me again, day hand did the thing.
These instructions are super basic. But after breaking my head everytime my watch slows down, i could figure it out. Im average dumb
This watch is so complicated I’ll lose my head!
Love mine. Biggest issue is if you have several watches it is not your daily watch. Store/keep it near a light sourse.
Thank you----Very helpful...Couldnt figure out why my watch kept changing to the wrong date. I had Daylight Savings Time turned off.
I have this watch and the stem just spins and the hands will not move at all. Any ideas? Thanks
I’m stuck at the date and year setting! Please help! 😣
Thank u...lifesaver
Hallo, can u help me? I have the same watch like this, about 4 month i never use, than now this watch is not really working, please . Thank You
I'm from Canada (Montreal) and I would like to know if the radio-controlled atomic timekeeping will work or i'm too far to have any connection?

thank you!!
When I set the time zone, the watch set everything automatically out of the box to the correct date and time.

Way ta go !
Well here we are again 🤦🏼♂️

Did the watch go into hibernation mode? Mine did and I have the same issue with days of the week. Needs a reset
I am having issues with my date function. Presently we are in 2023, August 9th. We are in leap year 3. Everytime I set the date, the next 24 hours the date jumps forward 2 or 3 days forward. Can anyone help me with this issue? All other settings are fine. Thank you!
Yeah mines isn’t allowing me to set the proper time
I want to buy that swotch...how much ?
BTW, I read and watch the video many times but some how the results were never the same as what was shown on the video. :-(
Decrement?
Ty
I thought it was supposed to keep the timevia Atomic Clock and not need setting.
True
My watch is one minute behind after this long and arduous process of setting up the watch, probably because the minute hand was not placed accurately, something which would never pass quality control with a Swiss watch!
Just do the hand-reset step to align hands if needed.
After 6 months in a drawer how you set it up again?
at the end of this video it will walk you through the zero reset process.
If the day and date are good you might have to set the month and leap year.
My day of week hand won’t turn to the day of the week. It used to.
Is it possible to keep atomic time in Korea, Japan, and China ?
Me also, was about to send it back :(
this watch is FUCKING SICK
How does it automatically change times depending on where you are? For example if I was in Dubai or Europe
Great.
@@Dan.U. Thanks! Its works
I let mine run down and it is literally giving me the blues trying to set it back. Help!
Mine doesn't work exactly as this describes.
I set my watch and when it get the radio signal i lose 2 mins from other atomic time
Same here
i know how to set the month and leap year, but how do you view it without going into the manual setting area?
How do you set month n leap year? O keep on getting the date changed after midnight.

Esse vídeo é muito útil, obrigado Citizen, pois sem essa ajuda eu não conseguiria ajustar esta maravilhosa máquina!
still having trouble with the day change!!
Nope
Me too can’t change the day!!! So annoying😩😤
