- I tried 3 of Singapore's most expensive kaya toasts. Kaya toasts are known for being affordable and delicious but did you know there are atas (high-end) options as well? In this video, I am trying them all. I hope my wallet does not die.

Ghib my family alrdy order the Dragon osake around next week it will come i hope,, otanoshimini hehe 😅
Hi Ghib, any advice on how long we can keep a bottle of sake (I mean any expiry date? Better to consume soon or ok to keep for a few years?) Thanks
@@sujaniaslam2428I'm sure you'll enjoy it Sujani!! Thanks (:
@@Hachimama89 There's no 'expiry date' or an official 'best-before date' for sake. But I recommend storing it in a cool place (preferably refrigerator) before opening, and after opening, consume it within a week. Of course, even after a few months, you can still drink it but the flavour will deteriorate. Cheers!
@@GhibOjisan ,, yes Ghib hehe thanks
Chef at the InterContinental scratching his head for the next month: “Why so many people order kaya toast ah?”
Cos it’s really good!! 😆
I have to agree the Intercontinental kaya toast is more to my liking even from a visual standpoint. Thank you for trying these out for us peasants lol!
I must say... you have been singaporeanized! The way is pronounced 'atas' is perfect! Hahaha! Keep up the good work!
I’m an elderly ( almost 80) Singaporean. Been wondering who started this trend of dipping beautiful crispy toast into the plate of soft~ boiled egg thus rendering it ‘ not crispy’. Why ?. In olden days, we didn’t eat it this way.
Dip into kopi also
Gotta dip a small part of it and eat it straight away. It still retains the crispiness.
I'm guessing somewhere along the lines, some people just decided to try new ways to eat it. I think both ways of eating it are fine. Different strokes for different folks.
I agree, I still dunno why videos say we Singaporeans eat it this way.. I dun get it..
I’m 62 years old and been away since 1989. I agree too. Too much change. Not like before. Shanghai la, used to have the best Black Forest cake, best blue cheese dressing, chicken club sandwich and etc, but I only crave for these items now.
hahahha, i like the way you say Atas! and thanks for showing us the premium kaya toast and coffee in Singapore my wife and kid gonna love it
8:53 Eh! Take bus to atas kaya toast? 🤪🤣🤣🤣
Enjoyed this video
There is actually a place that literally sell atas kaya toast call Wildseed Café at The Alkaff Mansion, though not nearly as expensive as what was featured here but the location is definitely worth a visit, gonna go try intercontinental! Thanks for the video
This is absolutely brilliant.
Thanks for bringing back the pineapple sake! I'd try the dragon playground as well! ☺️
Ghib Ojinsan is looking more and more like a Singaporean. Been enjoying too much Singapore food. As for guessing the price of the Kaya Toast. With Ya Kun selling for near $6. It got to be $12 to be the most expensive in Singapore.
This video is very fun and eye opening! Please do more series like this! 👍🏻👍🏻
This is a very entertaining video. 💪🏻
My wife and I have been enjoying your videos. We were in Singapore two weeks ago and planning to go back there again for a holiday. Enjoyed the information that you have shared Thank you. By the way what brand of backpack do you use? Was that the same backpack you used in Japan on your previous videos? Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed Singapore! Not sure of the brand - it’s a no brand. it’s a gift 😁
The egg and toast at the Intercontinental looks really good! you can tell that the eggs they use are of a high quality due to the color (bright orange) and its consistency. worth a try!
I LOVE THE CRUNCHY OF THE KAYA TOASTS , SOFT BOILED EGGS AND COFFEE. 👍👍❤️🇸🇬
Now i wanna eat kaya toast 😂
LOve this video.. please do more kaya toast at atas places..
Killiney kaya is very good. Its more coarse and so fragrant. My fav go to is the one at balestier shaw. Its much cheaper too .😊
Agree but sadly their coffee not to my liking . At Balestier I’ll eat my kaya toast and egg at Killiney then have my coffee at ah kun at level one . 😊
what a interesting shoot laced with humour. v cute ahhhh
Actually 20(+tax) for hotel toast is not bad considering Toast Box abd Yakun charge 6+ for their set. Ofc kopitiam kopi is still cheap and good😊
Ah so nice and interesting place
🌷💙🤍
The first one looks the best!
Looks like the cafe at the Intercontinental serves Julius Meinl, a coffee brand from Vienna.
カヤトーストってお高めのやつもあるんですねー!
高級ホテルの環境を考えたら高すぎないのかもですね✨久しぶりにカヤトースト食べたい😋
Kaya toast kopi set: first and lasr thing i get when at Changi Airport! Great video. Definitely trying the Intercontinental's next time. (BTW, in English, the coreect pronunciation of Shangri-la stresses the final syllable.)
my most atas kaya toast, I make it myself at home. It is priceless, since it is your own effort.
I tried the Taste Menu in the same cafe and ate Dim Sum in Shang Palace in Shangri La, last week. It should be worthwhile to try Zeniya in Shangri La. (It is related to two Michelin-starred Zeniya in Kanazawa, Japan.)
i cannot wait i must eat intercontinenal hotel kaya yummy
NICE! I'm actually more intrigue by the Nasi Lemak in both hotel's menu. Ghib-san, do a review of it too 😆
Next time!😆
Hope u tried atas prawn noodle at zion road hawker centre since u were there (when u were doing the conclusion)
yup the butter canbe cold
Dabao from Yakun and plate it differently before serving to you? and charge u differently?
Pls try and review 15 stamford kaya toast too! They also have other local such as bakuteh and laksa. Curious if they are worth the hype and price!
that's the one with the foie gras kaya toast right?!
How would you rate the continental vs yakun toast in the scale of 1-10 in favor of continental?
449 clementi coffeeshop toast/egg/kopi set only $2 during breakfast timing
DRAGON sake?!! immediate buy
Hope you’ll enjoy it😆
Ghib San, is the kopi free flow? Otherwise not worth leh, can ta pao from local coffee shop go Gardens By the Bay or Botsnical Gardens & enjoy the serene ambience too.
no aircon cannot
When I was a kid (N years ago) I always ate the soft boiled eggs with Light soy sauce, a few drops of Sesame oil and lots of pepper. We had no toaster so just ate with plain white bread.
Like your video very much ❤
That Bourgeouise Vibe
All three look very tempting! Maybe it's just me but I think I won't feel at ease spending that much on kaya toast sets like those. Feels out of place eating them in atas places.
Make me wan to eat kaya toast and eggs now. Anyway, my fav is #1
Yeah the plates and the ambience was really nice 😁
Do they provide better quality eggs such as Nuyolk or organic eggs, I would pay if they give big eggs with good yolks.
Will be great if you’ll try kaya toast at Raffles Hotel and Marina Bay Sands too 😂 I’m really curious
Hi Ghib i guess the 3rd place 10$ the price of the Kaya toast hehe😅, oh the dragon sake i m asking my family to get it for me, for celebration 😅, i used to go to shangrilla before for hi tea long time ago lah, maybe next time try the kaya toast there,, 😂,, Thks for the info Ghib,, Huat ah,, 🥪☕️,,😊, btw i like the intercontinental kaya toast”
Hey Sujani! Yep the ambience at Shangrila is awesome. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the new sake too. Huat ah!
@@GhibOjisan,,, yes i hope so,, the junmai daiginjo last time my japanese friend like it, i hope this new one will bring luck too hehe😅
did you do all three places in the same day lol. won't you get jelat for the 2nd and 3rd serving.
he has his wife sharing with him I bet.
The atas angmo style kaya toasts are nice and fancy but they're just not my thing. To me the best ones are still the traditional hainanese style charcoal grilled kaya butter toast.
Use China popular Szechuan chilli oil to pair with Singapore hotel soft boiled eggs?
$14 coffee hahaha Hotel thank you for being a big carrot 🥕 😄
Nice video
ジプンラーンzhaoliao
それは驚きました!😂
なんかご無沙汰です、カヤトースト、お店がたくさんありすぎて、次はどこに行けば悩ましいです、今年の候補はとりあえず喜園珈琲店を入れてます。
Even the best kaya toast in Singapore cannot beat the baseline kaya toast in Ipoh.
Kopitiam set 2.80 same
Interesting story 🙂👍👍👏👏
What is JU PUN NAN GA YAU ?
Please try different chicken rice in different hotels too.
Shangri la was $18.
ghib, yakun or toastbox?
i think it was Yakun.
Ah Seng (Hai Nam) Coffee at Amoy Street Food Center, is still my favorite. 🙂
Is it in USD?
i am glad you did not use fork and knife to eat kaya bread!!
"Char Kway Teow. 12 dollars!!!"
Me: laughs at australia prices
I'm Aussie. What's kaya toast?
You already showed us the price of the kaya toast from the third location
You should do a local version of Worth It 😂
1:13 let me guess it’s $15 for soft boiled eggs with kaya toast? Probably I’m wrong 😅
Wah Shangri-La.. Must bring passport 😂
🎉
Ghib: "This is the nicest i've dressed for Kaya Toast"
Ghib try wearing a suit. You'll look more ATAS 😆
I made my own cheap and good.
Honestly I would not be paying so much for kaya toast when I can get them at a fraction of the price at local joints
Hahaha how people associated eggs as good quality when yolks are dark orange. It’s caused by the colouring in the chicken feed. Just like reddish stool after a big load of dragon fruit. Carotene induced orange in eggs but could well be artificial colour. Cheaper to get benefits of carotene from carrots.
Good try... wont be lured to try these. Honestly these are for toursist la and who pays for atmosphere. The true value is probably around $2 to $3 max. Even yakun is overpriced already. Eat at home the best.
Ghib i hope you are sleeping well. Those eye bags are bad. Rest MORE!
Intercontinental looks delicious. The other 2 looked mehhh. They should at least serve organic eggs or the premium local egg Nuyolk.
Can't really compare with hawker stall price point though as they use margarine instead of butter like Ya Kun and I think their eggs are smaller.
Now Ya Kun's I feel like it's out of my budget as it's over priced for something that I can do at home...and I super hate the thin toasts, taste like nothing. Sliced into two meaning you are having 1 piece less of bread!
Luckily I have my grandmother's hainanese kaya recipe, best kaya everrrr. Kaya in our house has to be smooth. Coarse ones are just cooked quickly over stove usually instead of double boil.
By the way, the word is read as "sue vid"
Bro broiche bread is like a cake fluffy
If they overtoast it u will be eating charrr
I tried to make my own Kaya toast at home.. got some cheap Kaya... Not nice.. not fragrant... Need to get better kaya
thanks for trying this so i dont have to
The best kaya are made fresh everyday. Only old man like me know how kaya should and used to taste like. The kaya now are all made in the factory with preservatives and taste just sweet and nothing else.
The last cafe is an epic fail because they use those Gardenia bread with the crust still on.
For the last one, it has a modern take as they use brioche. Brioche bread is like that - brown on the outside, served with the skin. Also, it’s not meant to be crispy like normal white or brown bread. Imho, their kaya looked the most legit with the pale colour aka no fake colouring. 😁
I think you have not tried brioche before.
Yes, I am ok with these prices but I expect these hotels to make their own Kaya fresh everyday. And with fresh coconut milk, not the packaged coconut milk these days.
@@thewalk7816 actually their kaya is too coarse...good ones cooked slowly with low heat should be smooth...it takes hours to cook a good one. Quick cooking ones will be coarse and it doesn't allow time for the ingredients to develop deeper flavours.
So not healthy but so good with kopi c
シンガポールの一番高いバイキング行ってみたら?
Aiya. Just DIY the kaya toast home. It's not that hard.
Bro thanks for info, we won't go there to eat, too expensive
can i get ID on ur shirt sir, its so nice
You need to try the foie gras kaya toast at 15 Stamford at Capitol Kapinski! It is significantly more expensive than the ones you tried in this video, but i really liked it ans would be curious what you think :)
Atas place.... 😂😂😂
So,,keep eating atas foods, will your poops also more atas?
U can make ur own best at home seriously.. just go to baker buy real bread that is hand made n expires within 5 days
You paid for environment that you can bring home. Your payment also included the air that you breathe? Ha! Ha!
stop it with the price. review the food/ambience pls. Starbucks is alr $6 so whats all the hoohaa abt $6 kopi?
He did say Shangri-la $6 had better ambience than Starbucks. No ?
Toh long your ads are annoying...
Mai ah ni kuan lah, people ai tan jiak mah.
You are dressing up for the atas hotel not for the kaya toast or the food😊 wah! Oldies are also watching & commenting in your vlog (just scroll down).
I ate kaya toast at spago once. It cost me $35++
😳
But was it good? “Nice a not” as they say in the vernacular.
@@user-jk5um1om8l kaya toast with Foie gras. damn nice . I dont know how but just nice lol
dang if i knew about that, i would've went!
@@suckerx321 Hahaha incredible.
High end kaya toast? High end butter n kaya? High end organic bread? If its for the atmosphere, most would not eat kaya toast at a Atas place…. Its just kaya toast from local coffee shop served at Atas place…. Your channel is getting boring day by day
Sorry you didn’t enjoy, Let me know how I can improve!
@@GhibOjisan u dont have to say sorry, those who like it wiatch it,those who dont, wont
