Larry is great, explains for 45 seconds with genuine enthusiasm that they only have three minutes to shoot the car, probably continues to explain settings to the students, talks to the mechanics and then gets a coffee for everyone.
He then makes the killer shot in the last 1.3 seconds because he can dial in his Canons exposure, aperture, iso and focus with sheer photogenic willpower.

I've been light painting using street lights, signs etc at night for years and never new it had a name! Brilliant.. make me feel like loads of my shots are more legitimate and not just "weird" like some people say, thanks Larry :)

I believe those are custom rigs, like using the boom from a boom-microphone with LED-strips attached.
