It is easier than you think to create your own airline.
So every few years a wave of new budget airlines startup while others go bankrupt.
This might seem weird because a new commercial jet costs around $100 million dollars.
But there are 3 fascinating reasons that explain why this happens. The last one is the most important.
    1. Every few years, manufacturers release a new plane. These planes have lower maintenance costs. So new airlines can swoop in and use these planes, while old airlines pay off their old planes.
    2. Airlines complicate their business models over time. To make more money, they add more offers, but this creates inefficiencies.
    3. New airlines cut down on labor with new tech. For example, Breeze doesn't even have a customer service number. You can only chat.
So if you wait for the right time...

If I start an airline, I might go with a unique concept which is a hybrid carrier that is for those who prefer firm seats. Like if you like how firm the seats are on frontier but, want JetBlue like amenities it will be your answer. Featuring Acro slimline reclining seats with 4 way adjustable headrests and seatback IFE. It would be kind of niche but it could work.

Don't forget aircraft leasing & sale-leaseback deals, which are cheaper than buying them straight from the manufacturer. Budget airlines tend to lease most of their fleet.
If you catch up with aviation news you'd be familiar with non-airline companies called "leasing companies" ordering planes. This'll then go to other airlines. Another scenario is that an airline orders a new plane via a lessor, hence let's say "Airline orders 30 Airbus A330neos; half of which will be bought straight from Airbus and another half will be leased".
EDIT: Forgot another thing. *Manufacturer discounts.* Airplane manufacturers will give this out when an airline puts a huge order or has a good relationship with the planemaker; think of it like your friend who sells hotdogs giving you a 50% discount of his hotdogs. For example (doesn't necessarily reflect actual scenarios), Airbus gives Qantas a 50% discount for ordering a bunch of A350-1000ULRs, A321XLRs & A220-300s.
On the other hand, if you pissed off a planemaker, e.g like what Qatar Airways did in recent months, you don't get a price hike; your order gets delayed or outright cancelled.
EDIT 2: I'm not gonna go into slightly-controversial topics like Boeing's dumping (selling for very cheap) actions on 787 prices despite then accusing Bombardier of dumping with the CSeries planes that Bombardier had to sell the CSeries program to Airbus.
*EDIT 3: Still there's paperwork for airline startups to make*

Still airline industry is the toughest.
Insane expenditure, forget about millions of dollars on cost of plane, maintenance, simulators, etc then there's so many staff, pilots, flight attendants, engineers, technicians all those, and more thousands of dollars on airport parking fees everytime you fly to a specific airport, Dhaka's one is one of the most expensive in the world btw, and let's not forget about fuel, price always rise and fall makes it tougher
But obv, a ticket price is calculated considering all these + per distance

“every few years, manufacturers release a new plane”
    a320ceo release: 1988
    a320neo release: 2010
    737ng release: 1992
    737 MAX release: 2014
    a330ceo release date: 1994
    a330neo release date: 2018
btw these are all different type of planes from different manufacturers and their updated models

Do your research. It is way harder to start an airline than you actually think it is.

"These planes have lower maintenance costs" As a licensed aircraft mechanic, no. No they don't. In fact they are more expensive. Parts are harder to get, everything comes from one manufacturer so lots of high prices.
