Personally the music is likeable and gives me the feeling of wondrous exploration in a fantasy world. So I personally find it appealing.
I actually like the out of place music, makes the game feel more different and 'abstract' :))

He should have gotten the composer from the Panzer Dragoon series Saori Kobayashi, i think Her music would have fitted better.

looks a little like panzer dragoon game which I enjoyed so might consider great vid guys
I remember playing the original Space Harrier back on arcade and than on the Amstrad CPC! That game was always far too hard for me, I don't have twitch reflexes and tend to go exactly in the wrong direction at the wrong time. This one, however, looks quite fun. Does it have any difficulty settings? The review didn't mention them.
Also, I think the music sounds great. I guess I do appreciate when the music doesn't automatically fit with the action. It can sometimes add an interesting dimension to what's happening.
It has an arcade mode with various difficulty settings.. Otherwise your health / lives are determined by your progress in the game RPG style (stars accumulated by playing give health and items). there's no level select so you star t at level 1 when u die. It has a slower ramp up than SH. If you weren't good at SH, this will be easier.
As a Queen fan, i think that comparison sold me on the game. Whether it be the melodic or more high octane style songs, I'm just a sucker for any soundtrack emulating any of their style.
Ordered this one physically throught Strictly Limited and it arrived just acouple days ago. Gonna play it over the holiday weekend!
To me the music is the first thing I noticed. I feel it creates a very distinct atmosphere and it feels appropriate in the same way that River City Girls music felt appropriate in its oddness.
I get off at 5am here in the states and this channels videos are the first things i go for wheni get home. Thanks guys.

Saw this game a while ago in the coming soon section in the eshop and thought it was the typical eshop shovelware and totally dismissed it. But after seeing a lot of coverage of this game over the past couple days it has definitely shot up on my to get list!
it's not. it's good. It's a good arcade type title.
6:34 sounds decently appropriate for a space stage but 6:44 sounds like it would have been better suited for the giant flower level you showed a bit earlier. I get your point though that it's a bit odd but at certain angles (from those two examples you've shown) I can kinda get it

I think I'll wait for a sale on this one; I wish it had a bit more depth to the music/gameplay elements, I was hoping for it to be a bit more like Rez, I think.
On rails shooters aren't really my thing but for those that it is if you pick this up I hope you enjoy it!
I don't have anything against the OST, I feel it fits well in certain places, but yeah, mostly out of place or disjointed from the rest. Also is it just me or does it sound like one of those experiments where you feed AI a certain song and tell it to extend it further so it makes up some random similar sounding melodies...in this case Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody...I wonder if they actually did something like this...
I always wanted a new Space Harrier. I'll probably get it, although the music isn't really doing it for me, especially compared to the original Space Harrier games.

I love panzer dragoon and the starfox games. This game is up my alley and looks amazing. Def gonna get it.
Looks like a fun game, the music does feel off for me too so will definitely take some getting used to. May get in a sale because of the length.

Makes me want to play Child of Eden instead. That needs a rerelease on consoles and VR.
Great review as always. Just got the game two days ago and I am just having fun with it. Really loving the variety of game modes and features Air Twister offers. I am among its target audience, as I'm a huge Yu Suzuki fan. For the most part, I shared the same sentiments as you with the pros and cons, with the exception of the soundtrack. Strange? Yes! But in my opinion, the soundtrack did fit the mood and the world of Air Twister. Loved it so much, I'd really love to get a vinyl version of the soundtrack. Anyway, Air Twister is a flawed but fun experience, overall.

The only on-rails shooter' that I've enjoyed was 'Dead Space Extraction' on the Wii, so this one isn't for me. Also, while I appreciate the variety of different levels, I don't get the vibe that there is any corehent links between them, could someone that's played it clarify that?

Great review - I like the music on its own, but agree 100% it absolutely does not work with this style of game - at all. It feels like you're playing a game and someone nearby is blasting a rock opera through their speakers... Very off-putting - it ultimately becomes quite annoying...

Its Rez or Panzer Dragoon gameplay rather than Space Harrier. Space Harrier doesn't have lock on gameplay.

I've been intrigued given my love this style of game, but something about it continues to just look "off" to me. I can't put my finger on it. Appreciate the review, though. Makes me even more curious, but I might just wait for a sale.
Personally I absolutely adore the soundtrack for this game, and it’s one of the main reasons I picked it up.
My issue is the fact the main character looks like she’s nipped round from Portal Runner on the PS2…

The music not quite matching the game reminds me of being in arcades in the mid nineties with the sounds of whatever prog-rock, new wave, classic rock mix the kid running the counter had brought in that day.
Ahhh, I'm so unsure about this. I like Sega in general and here and there, I like to fire up Space Harrier, for maybe 5-10 minutes and than I'm done again for a while.
Might be fun for others who like arcade games like this but sadly it's not for me.
Going to wait for $10 price tag. Game looks like a classic

There is a remaster. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a remake. It's not the best. I got it on sale for 2 bucks.
The music really sounds like queen and is pretty odd for this kind of game. But hey, that's special and unique. :-)

I definitely don't think the music fits the game at all. That's the exact thing I was thinking is this sounds like Queen but more lower paced. I don't like moving in front of enemies to target them. It needs a crosshair like Starfox, it seems majorly stunted without one. I do like the graphics & gameplay are good though. The graphics definitely look like Dreamcast Era but that's ok with me. I do love the variety of stages.

It does remind me of space harrier or panzan dragon and I enjoyed these back in the day down the arcades in the 89’s. Tbh I just think these sort of games are just dated
introducing Yu Suzuki and not even mentioning Shenmue.....and visuals are mind blowing for Switch...most Switch games have shitty graphics or snes level graphics.
You can really tell this game was made for mobile, like the targeting system. And yes, that music gave me instant Queen vibes 😂

Appreciate the review but this is a definite no for me, the music doesn't fit at all especially when I think of how awesome the Panzer Dragoon soundtrack on the Saturn was; also don't really like the aesthetics it really gives off that mobile game vibe to me.

You’re never too old!!! Check out the Electric Underground video “You're NOT Too OLD to Play Difficult Games!”. The arcade style is actually really well suited to older people with responsibilities because they respect your time and pack a lot of density into short sessions. Maybe Air Twister will make you a convert!!!

This review is useless. You forgot to tell us that you need to play the game in 1 session. There are no resume from where you were.
I love games like Space Harrier and Panzer Dragoon, but the visuals on this look so dead and lifeless compared to the greats of the genre. Everything sorta just blends together into mush at certain points.
