How to fix proportions:
Please access settings - Car infotainment - about device - click the gear icon in the upper right corner and enter 8888 or 8878 and click ok - CAN type - choose 176 items - to select other types of cars(CCC/CIC/NBT) then fully reboot the unit.
After booting into the main interface, click the icon in the bottom left corner to find the Carinfo app--Factory Head Unit Parameter Setting--Original Menu Resolution Adjustment -auto/manual.

I was concerned about the head unit blocking my view while driving. Until I saw your POV camera shot while driving which was perfect. Good Stuff man.
I found the solution for original back up camera issue.
Go to more app , car info , general setting's, rear camera type, original rear camera.

Thanks for the video I have a bunch of question. I am already running an android unit but wanted to know if it's worth the upgrade.
My questions are:
1) Does it do a cold boot up from scratch every time you turn on the car? Or does it have a quick wake up feature like a tablet does from sleep?
2) If it does have to cold boot up each time how long does it take?
3) Does it auto start playing on board music?
4) how the does bluetooth function on it? Is it extremely disabled? For example can you connect say a game pad to it easily?
5) Do they offer a 360 camera feature?
6) Does it have a sim card / memory card slot?

CarLetter app (CarPlay) does not run at a native 2560x720 resolution resulting in the blurry UI. Not sure about Android Auto, but given that CarPlay/AA is probably going to be the most used feature on these screens, this is a huge miss. Can't believe you did not notice this in your review. Returning mine.

It was blurry enough for me. Can’t believe this was not mentioned in any of the reviews.
You can use carlinkit dongle that is a deducated CarPlay dongle for Android. It then makes you realize even more how good CarPlay in the native resolution looks like! But then you lose physical controls. Carlinkit does allow to program physical controls (in beta) but the unit interferes with it. For example, I was able to program scrolling left and right, but pressing on the iDrive controller takes you out of the app.
It really is a hot mess. Get a Linux screen if you want a bigger screen. If you’re happy with your existing screen and want CarPlay, get an MMI box.

Hi, Ayy, after I watched this video, I bought and installed the Xtrons head unit on my 2016 BMW 428i. On the other hand, as you mentioned, the head unit can not detect the OEM reserve camera signal. Would you please teach me how to fix it? Appreciate. Daniel

I didn’t install my mic either. Just when a call comes in I select the bmw as the output. Works fine, then when I’m done I switch audio back to CarPlay. Not a huge inconvenience, also I don’t have to have the ugly supplied mic
out of curiosity does your car have microphones installed from the factory? shouldnt the head unit use them if they are there?

Are there any codes you have to input to fully work, because Ik when you switch the stereo/info system it usually asks for a factory code to work.

What resolution did you choose for the iDrive? I have 2014 535i F10 so thinking it will be same as yours. I’m presently in “auto” but have made the other changes and it’s not quite as good as yours.
I see it is advertised as Android 13. It is indeed fake Android 13 (real 10).

@ayyyman_ for Bluetooth audio rather than aux, are you saying you were able to pair the head unit to BMW's bluetooth? I've been trying to do just that with my unit but it never prompts to confirm the passkey on the head unit side.
I have this unit and i love it the only thing is how do you get the 360 camera system to work. I have the 12 pin connector pluged in for all 4 cameras to connect to. I recently found the hidden menu and have tried to video about it but no one has a video on it. I think i might have accidentally deleted the app but when i went to the hidden menu and tired to follow this one video now the car icon comes up but it keeps flickering idk if i have the screen ratio set wrong or what? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Is car play part of the unit itself or does the car have to have carplay? Considering buying this for my F13 because i have the super small screen without carplay etc.
Unit contains the carplay, I believe thats the main reason people buy it.

I go on long road trips and wondering if it would play youtube for my passengers to entertain them while I am driving. can it do that?
You will have to disable the "disable video in motion" setting (it is there to not distract the driver), but after that you can play yt just like on your phone (or through it xD). I had my default screen also on video in motion disabled, but I am not sure if that is a requirement or if the xtrons unit overrides it. (If it is required you will need an obd2 scanner/coder like carly or bimmercode)
Does this work with 2018 F82?
Can you still control the climate and heat/cool seats with this?
In that bmw you have Buttons for that.
How do you fix the camera
Aftermarket head units affect the stock audio system? cause if it does it's a no go for me.

How long does the unit take to boot into Carplay after startup? My worry with this versus a Linux unit is, I want to get in and input my destination quickly. Not to have to wait 55 seconds sitting there idling.
@@TheHerokid672 it’s pretty quick. I have a few cars with factory CarPlay and even those don’t boot up right away. This one is pretty similar, maybe a little slower but not a deal breaker for me personally

I haven’t noticed a difference in audio quality. But tbh, I’m not super picky with audio so if there is a slight difference, I wouldn’t notice
when i try to go back to the oem screen it just goes black how do i fix??
That sounds like there might be a wiring issue. Did you transfer the fiber optic cable? The blue one from your original harness to the new harness
