What's even more impressive is the band playing underwater.
ROFL, literally spewed my drink reading this.

Yeah just imagine what it sounds like when it's out of the water to be able to make it sound like that when it's underwater........... ;)
Ahahahjaj
What song is this?
That was way more momentum and force than I would have expected for an arrow underwater. Metal af
I mean, it barely went as deep into that thin azz jug as when I accidentally kick my own heel with my untrimmed toenail.
honestly its a really good shape to move underwater, might be even better if its fletching was hard and straight instead of intended for rotation in the air like the lil "wings" on his. they make it spin which slows it down it coulda moved way faster, pretty much as fast as one in the air with hard, small, fletching
@@yupp9393 if it had a broadhead instead of a field tip it mightve stood a better chance at penetrating the jug
@@seirbhiseach
yeah, looks like it's deliberately dull to not penetrate all the way through and possibly damage the wall of the pool .
@@bryanscott8675uhm no. Those arrows come standard like that.
The cavitation caused by the string was awesome!
You beat me to it.
And that kids is how underwater bow fishing started…
A new Olympic sport
Until they realize spearfishing makes much more sense.
It’s called spear fishing I believe. Hahah.
That's what I was just thinking, I wanna try it
How is it gonna go through a fish if it wouldnt go through a juice jug?
Well, you know what they say.....
"Don't bring a gun to an underwater bow and arrow fight...."
Factually kind of true, The bow will have a better range under water than a rifle. Pistols can be more dangerous though. (Destin "SmarterEveryDay" fired an AK47 underwater: maximum bullet travel 5ft.)
Unless I bring a harpoon gun 😏
@26AccountsRemoved If that's the case, they would have called the harpoon gun a modified crossbow 😅
@26AccountsRemoved it uses rubber bands.
there are also versions that use CO2 canisters
What if I bring my torpedo gun? *Note to self: invent torpedo gun*
Seeing it played at normal speed is far more impressive than slow motion!
It would been nice to see a full clip of the bow and target at same time with real time speed
It’s cap obviously, he didn’t really hit it, they came up closer to land the shot. I hate how everything online is just fake for no reason

Wow. That was actually a much faster shot than I was honestly expecting for being underwater lol
Same. Although I don't know the distance, as it couldn't have been too far. I was surprised it had no penetrative power at the end.
@@patrickmclaughlin61 The distance and if there was anything in the jug. I think how light the arrow is compared to a stainless steel spear from a speargun is what limits its power.
@@carlwessels2671 well and the major drag from the fins
@@carlwessels2671 my thoughts as well. I’m fairly certain the arrow wouldn’t penetrate a fish at any distance other than virtual point blank
@@999jdubya I agree with you. The lack of mass in the arrow just kills it's performance.
Fun fact, the bubbles that form behind the bowstring aren't composed of air, but water vapor. The movement of the bowstring creates a big enough pressure differential that the water temporarily boils behind it
Are they not cavitation bubbles. Basically just a vacuum
Cavitation bubbles forming under very low pressure. Decrease in water pressure = decrease in boiling point of water
Good explanation
pretty sure it's just a vacuum, otherwise my hand is powerful enough to boil water because I have created these spaces with my hand.
@@dookie3453 yes
holy shit it actually moves faster and reaches farther than a bullet
There are some bullets made for water. Most bullets like a 50 cal rifle round can reach 7 feet underwater. Smaller calibers reach only 4 feet max. If you are dealing with tungsten type bullets you could reach up to 14 feet and sometimes they have gone up to 30 feet underwater. Tungsten bullets mixed with other hard metals are used for bunker busting purposes so it makes total sense since they can go through 20 feet of thick reinforced concrete.
@@spartanalphamode2987 I'm reminded of that one ak made for shooting underwater that had literal spears for bullets
Bullets travel just fine under water if fired from under water. Don't try it at home... the firearm has to be designed to handle the pressures that are exponentially higher than firing in air. The issue is the transition from air to water. At those speeds it is like hitting a brick wall before surface tension breaks. Also consider the concussion you get from the firing of a round is also going to be amplified by a lot. A firearm that feels like a punch to the chest in air is going to feel like a semi-truck to the body in water.
@@BionicBurke I think it's also directly related to the fact that water is non compressible, at least relating to the feeling of concussion from the small explosion in the chamber.
Similar to a boat, the longer the projectile is, the less drag it has.
The fact that he managed to hit the target underwater is the most impressive part to me.
You know he's cool because he's wearing sunglasses underwater

Let’s not forget a baseball cap too

The glasses were for safety…
Yeah the sun is absolutely blinding down there. 😎
The cavitation behind the string is phenomenal. A fine example of liquid giving up the free gases it contains, momentarily.
The potential energy that exists in our immediate environment is impossible to fully grasp with our feeble monkey brains lol 😅
This is what we needed at summer camp.
This is how Steven Seagal fishes 4 his dinner
This is why spearguns are optimized for underwater use
@Tom WaterFooler There are new bullets that are tungsten tipped. When fired they create a gas bubble. The cavitation effect allows bullet to travel through water at a high velocity. Comparable to being fired on ground. Not sure on spear tech.
Yup. The long string on a bow creates too much drag under water.
Yes roller guns have made a resurgence in the Last decade. Using a Speargun on land is as silly as using a bow underwater. Spearguns will shoot a 2-5 lb shaft of steel 20 feet clean through a 200 lb fish while pulling a 300lb test Linea d a slip tip or flopper. This thing barely penetrates a plastic bottle.
@@Art-hn1xk so I'm not even 50% sure on what I'm about to say but I don't think it's considered a bullet, isn't a bullet something that is propelled by explosive gases? I think it is still literally just an arrow
This demonstrates principles. Dunno which ones but it does
All this time Elder Scrolls has been lying to me whenever I try to use a bow against those damned slaughterfish.
Underwater fishing with bow like tools have been a thing for a very long time.
People at my place always use bow and arrow and slingshot for fishing but now they're using air rifle too with arrow head and rope 😂
And Minecraft 😒
Yeah jumping into the water in Oblivion always annoyed me because it would unequip my bow.
Compound bow has a hell of a lot more force behind it than a standard string bow.
Bow fishing just jumped to a whole new level 😂
That wave of cavitation bubbles on the back of the bowstring looks so cool.
On another note, Philosiraptor thought: if you shoot an arrow underwater, is it a torpedo?
Far more effective than any bullet fired underwater. Thats pretty impressive.
I'm honestly surprised at how fast the arrow traveled.
Not really, if you think about it its basically just a small spear gun
@@beowulf98 have you ever seen what a bullet does underwater? This is miles more effective. Bullets disintegrate or lose all their energy in just a Couple feet. This thing is deadly to a decent distance.
longer projectiles are more efficient underwater. specifically made underwater guns have bullets that share the same profile
No it’s not lol
Now I want to see underwater archery become an Olympic sport. They could even add currents.
Loved watching the cavitation of the bow string.
Seeing water literally separate is so amazing.
This is one of the coolest videos I've seen in a while
Goes to show you what a brilliant invention a compound bow is with it's elliptical tensioners.
That bow string moves so fast the water starts to cavitate behind it making those bubbles. Awesome video

Was also gonna say it’s cool that there was enough force and vacuum to boil water and form that cavitation too

That went faster than I thought!
I figured the bow would come unstrung.
@@loadedhot1034 a normal bow would, maybe not a long bow because its too much tension to deflect in the water

I'm shocked at how much velocity that arrow has!
The video I didn’t know I needed today thanks for the vid my guy
Man that arrow had a lot of power to be moving like that underwater holy shit
When your friend says you can have any toy in there pull because it’s a old liner
love the cavitation bubbles from the string and arrow
It didn't even puncture the plastic bottle. I'd say as expected because the arrow was slowed too much because of the higher drag. Dipping the whole arrow in oil and trimming the feathers should help a lot.
Treat the arrow with some of that hydrophobic liquid.
It's the bow string creating drag that created drag against force
Sunglasses and a baseball cap. So many things that don't belong underwater here 😅
Why do I feel like I’ll see this in the Olympics one day
Can you do the same but, the target outside of the water? That would be awesome! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I woulda waxed the shit outta my bow strings to get the least amount of resistance
I'm thinking the cavitation might just blow it all off.
What do you think?
I'm not sure you would have accomplished what you was hoping for by doing that though, like with a boat hull....... Waxing it will actually cause more friction below the water line, waxing a bow string that is going to be shot underwater might do the same thing, then again it could do exactly what you was hoping to do also it's hard to say not knowing
@@diychad7268 surface area on bow strands is depleted with wax. Fiberglass has strands but is coated to make it smoother. WW2 some planes painted shiny vs matte for less drag. I’m by no means an engineer. It makes sense from screwing around in real life not on video games

You should try with a tungsten arrow. It would have the same energy but way less drag so it would go a lot farther.
The slo-mo was the actual speed
I did this at a family member inflatable pool. Man were they pissed when I broke the pool😂
Man that must have been a massive inflatable pool for you to be able to stand in it with water still over your head and then be able to shoot a bow and arrow and it have as much travel distance as in this clip here, or did you do it when you was on the set of Honey I shrunk the kids

Is more than impressive that a bow has more force underwater that a gun
The kinetic energy produced by string is so high it boils the water around it.
By God. The speed of the arrow even in water is impressive. Just shows how fast it truly goes when in air.
It's crazy to see that a bow ancient technology is still more deadly than a gun.
