Timing Chain on Golf R32 Mk5 (VR6) - Part 3 - Intake Manifold Removal and Coils

- I have been planning on doing this timing chain and clutch job for a year or so now on the Golf but had to get various other projects finished first such as building a car port for the car I had stored in the garage, and sorting some storage space out for the parts as I remove them. I'm no mechanic and only have DIY experience but as I felt like a challenge and as I don't daily the car I thought why not.
I was always planning on documenting the video anyway and keeping it for reference so I thought why not just do a little bit of editing and upload it to UA-cam? Hopefully someone will find this useful to see perhaps what I've done, where I went wrong and how difficult it was to help them decide if they want to have a go at this themselves.
I'll be posting part numbers and so on in the description as I use them. Please feel free to offer any advice or have any suggestions as I say I'm no mechanic and so any constructive advice is greatly appreciated.
This part is removal of the intake manifold, coils and associated bits. - Авто та транспорт
Doing this now with knowledgeable friend. Couldn't have tackled this without your great video. Doing my 2008 tt 3.2 and most all applies. Thank you!
"I'm not a mechanic but im gonna do this."
Literally me.
Lots of hidden bolts and stubborn connecters but with the great video you'll do fine!
gosh never seen valves so clean normally coved in carbon
Update: the “box” is called the ‘vacuum canister’. I now have one :) . Great vids :)
Fantastic videos in this series. I have found them incredibly helpful. Great job!
I have a question about the "box" removed at around 17:35. Mines cracked and i'm trying to order another. I lit up when I saw it being removed in the video but even the gentlemen doesn't know what its called 😅. I think he refers to it as potentially a resonator box with vacuum lines. If anyone could shed anymore light on this component - what it's called, part number, a link to new one etc I would I be very grateful.
Thanks again for these videos. Have a good day all.
Just the video I was looking for. I have this to do on my TT :(
David Moralee good luck. It’s not really all that bad if you are methodical. The only really scary bit is the bolt that goes through the middle of the driveshaft cup to the gearbox. If you snap it then it’s game over so just take your time with that part. Mine was a pig to undo to the point I thought it had snapped but luckily it had just come undone all of a sudden.
I know you did this 3yrs ago now, but how did it go? I have a mk2TT and heard that there is room at the front so the radiator etc doesn’t need to be removed? I am trying to get to the manifold as it is leaking somewhere in there…
I have strange metallic noice coming from that box on the right side of engine..where you put oil in. V6 3.2 l mk5. 2007
Do you know if that can be some seriuse problem?
Does it sound a bit like marbles?
@@est8337 Yes. Its not so intense sound but i hear it.

Assuming it sounds a bit like that. Your guides will be worn if so and chain is rattling a bit. My advice would be to just change the upper guides and tensioner without removing the chain and see if that fixes it. To be honest there was only one guide that was all that bad on mine and you can change it by only removing the rocker cover and upper timing chain cover.
You can see the one i'm talking about here and how worn mine was ua-cam.com/video/sdJSekcIv7g/v-deo.html
