- Every greenhouse that propagates their own plants will have "mother" or "stock" plants, which they use to take cuttings of in order to grow commercially. Byron Martin, the co-owner of Logee's Greenhouses, takes us through some of his favorites, including some never-before-seen Begonia cultivars. This is the second video of a three part series!

This guy went from looking unsure and shy on camera to straight up hosting in this one.
First tour where i thought to myself "i wish i could work there with this kind of guy, in this kind of place"
I love the transition.
I love how Summer eats the fruit at the end - and then gives Byron the seeds back😅🤣 I could listen to Summer and Bryon all day long so the episodes at Logees are such a delight. Thank you!
21:53 I love how she just spits out the seed and gives it to him and they both act so natural lol Anyone else catch that?
More Logees! Love watching Byron's excitement about the plants. Very refreshing.
I laughed so hard when HE took the Manilkara Zapota seeds right off of her when she spat them out . Speaks to my heart and soul. Well Done.
I mean true Gardner’s spits out the seed and hands it over lol
Hahaha it was the first thing i thought too😂❤️
😂🙌
So nice to hear the experts talk without unnecessary interruptions 👍🏼
I love how he just went on and on, and when the video ended, I still wish there were more. So interesting to watch and very pretty plants!
I love the Logee’s tours! I hope there are more! 🤞🏻
The history behind each plant is equally as fascinating as the plant itself. Really great video, I'm from CT and love Logee's!
I saw the starfruit and it reminded me of the starfruit sapling my dad got for me at the farmers market in Borneo when I was a kid. We planted it in the backyard and gave us lots of huge and sweet starfruit. It put out beautiful flowers, too eventhough it was overshadowed by our two massive mango trees. Young or new tender starfruit leaves are edible. It's super yummy when stirfried with lots of garlic and chillies. You can do the same with fern shoots (not all fern shoots are edible) and manihot young leaves as well. In some countries they add rich coconut cream and a bit of tumeric as a quick vege curry.
Byron Martin is AMAZING. That man knows everything of plants and he can talk about it in a never boring way. Big respect! Put him and Chad Husby from Fairchild Botanical Gardens togheter at a table and they talk about plants for a week, without sleeping and eating, I guess.
I love how he just takes the seeds fresh from your MOUTH w/o hesitation lol
I really enjoy his tours, it’s nice to see different kind of plants that can grow in containers.
Logee’s is amazing. What a wonderful passion for growing plants. Loved every tour. Thank you.
Wow, the Begonias are gorgeous 😍
So nice to see fruiting trees that give off edible fruits.
Byron is so knowledgeable.
Bryon really loves his plants. So knowledgeable. Thank you Summer great tour.
I felt proud when Logee's mentioned the white sampaguita flower that is common here in the Philippines. A very informative plant tour indeed. Way to go Summer Oakes!
Wow, what a knowledgeable man! It is a pity we couldn’t graft gardeners to keep throwing all their expertise forward.
"Something so cute, so adorable, you just wanna punch it." I cracked up at this cause this is the exact same way I explain what gigil means 😆Low key aggro lol
gigil can also mean pinching till it hurts as in pinching a cute baby’s face like what my aunties use to do when I was a kid..... I hated it!
i once tried synsepalum fruit and then proceeded to taste everything sour in my kitchen... and it's ridiculous. i ate a lemon whole, sipped on beer that tasted like juice and was in sweetness overload from any fruit i tried to eat. it's crazy.
this tour was so much fun, you can really feel how much Mr. Martin loves this place.
Yaaaassss 3 more plants from the Philippines. Magnifera Indica or Carabao Mango is the sweetest most yummiest mango you can ever eat. Every time foreigners go to the Philippines expect that this fruit will be recommended.
Plus the Mandenilla Magnifica. Dear Logees thank you for carrying plants from my country ❤ So proud to see it
Love the mango tree! It was really nice to learn some facts in regards to it! Love this tour and as always thank you so much for sharing💚
*Ugh I just love plant tours!* 😍🌿✨
Love your videos I'm 16 and from South Africa... you inspired me to start my own channel about plants even though I don't have many subscribers I still love it... have a amazing day
The fruit you have eaten is called Chiku in our local language and I have one tree growing in our garden which is flowering right now...one of my favourite fruits....💓💓💓 Thank you Summer!
did u also eating it without removes the fruit skin? because in indonesia we removes the skin before we eat it... indonesian people call it sawo...
@@dumuzidtherisingphoenix yup, most of the time we eat with the skin
You getting to visit all these greenhouses makes me so jealous, so thanks for giving us the ability to experience them.
What a wonderful place I love Logee
Wow. Just wow. I LOVE this series of Greenhouse tours. When you see the years of love behind each plant for sale, it makes the price tag seem so small. I wish I could afford to pay more because they deserve it.
Iam from Brazil and it's quite strange to see such common fruit trees like carambola and sapoti being raised in greenhouses. I grew up eating both of them, and it's part of my life. Loved the video!!!!:)❤
I like Byron and love his plants! Chocolate, Mango trees standing guard over gorgeous begonias. I rotted my first begonia and have shunned them since but with colors like this I am tempted to try again. I cant finish the video right now, but I will be back. Thanks Summer for this content.
summer is solemnly eating that fruit, LOL! great episode, I love Byron's tours
This was so pleasant and fascinating to watch. I feel like I got a special experience of this greenhouse and I loved seeing him light up more and more as he continued to show us plants. Thank you!
I enjoy the tour, Logee is a great man. And eating chico without peeling is a new thing for me.
More idea about fruit in a pot. Thank you logee's and God bless po, love from the Philippines.
This was delightful! Thank you!
I love this place.
I really enjoyed this video. He is very knowledgeable and enjoyed listening to him talk about the plants.
For everyone else who doesn't know what "chicle" is (I looked it up after Byron mentioned it at the very end of the video), it's the natural latex that chewing gum was originally made from (now chewing gum is mostly synthetic rubber). The more ya know!
I love this guy!
I've loved all the videos from Logee's!
I love being this early to such an inspirational, educational source 💕 love and light Summer!
The brown fruit is called chicos in the philippines..they taste so good! And the star fruit we call it "balimbing" which we sometimes use for as an expression if a person keeps changing sides based on their own convenience lol
I truly admire you, Mr. Martin. I can easily ee your passion and knowledge humbly shows through. Thank you for such an informative tour, and thank you Summer + cameraman for always produce the best plant tour.
I really like the begonia at 5:05.
Amazing all the fruiting trees you can grow in pots! So many new tastes. The Begonia breeding program is exciting!
That was very interesting...and Byron Martin was very easy to listen to, with his vast knowledge of plants. He has a great collection of usual plants. I've bought through Logee's a few times, and have been happy with the quality of their inventory. Thank you for these tours!
Love my Pickering Mango tree
Wow.. Another Logee's Garden tour... My favorite when I was kid the maher dwarf.. We call it star fruit not only table fruit there's a medicine benefits.. The cacao trees I love it.. We make chocolate drinks.. ❤
Phenomenal videos. I love the tours of Logees. I think the chemistry is wonderful between you and Byron. You both are bringing out best in each other. Thanks....
he really sold me on the red finger limes. i have been eyeing that plant on the logee's website and now i seriously plan to purchase at some point. he's very effective lol
Logee's tour. Really a lots of Tropical plants and trees which really found abundantly in South East Asian Nation. Mostly of their fruits bearing trees is familiar to me and also the taste. One thing I just discover about the "Chico Fruit" (Manilkara Zapota) can be eat unpeel. 😂😀😀😀 that's consider even more tasty.
Wow, what a cool tour! Thank you:)
here summer eat. u look hungry. now im hungry thanks 11. lovely cant stop watching these tours
Love your videos!! All the way from Melbourne, Australia!
I love all your videos! They're just so informative and thorough and straight out awesome. I would love to see you do a series on Andy's orchids sometime, that would be incredible!!!
That plant with yellow fruit is common in Philippines its called balimbing😻it reminds me of my happy childhood 🙂
Tin Ponce, balimbing are also called carambola in the Phillipines and the 2 varieties of sapotes mentioned are popularly called chico (brown) and kaimito (purple)
I'd like to visit these plants all the day long ... Thank you !
This is one of my favorite series in a while! I really want to get my hands on that Maher dwarf now! Grew up loving star fruit from the trees in my neighborhood and behind my stepmoms work, and I really would love to have it again so far away from home
My fave of the ones features might be that finger lime one. I like the compact and bushy growth on it. It doesn't look like a standard citrus.
I really liked this video. It is very informative. I also enjoyed listening to his unique pronunciation of American English. In particular, he is quite consistent in replacing word final schwas with ‚r‘, e.g. begonier, bacterier, Africer, Americer etc.
Very interesting video. So special to see the mother plants. Most of the fruits shown I've never seen before.
Loved all the colorful begonias!!
That fruit that Summer ate is called "chico" in the Philippines. It's a sweet fruit and it does produce a lot of fruits year round.
I love your videos and I appreciate your work and your knowledge about plants. I learned from you to love all kind of plants. Good wishes from Romania, Europe
Thank you for posting this tour really enjoyed it. Educational as with all your content. Much appreciated.
I had a Brighamia Insigniis too, very challenging plant. It has lost all ist's leaves twice, got infected by spider mites and also startet to mold from the top. I cut off the stam to 5 inches and covered it with wax. Now,after 5 Months,it starts to spread out new groth from the side very slowly. I hope it'll recover soon because i really love that pland and it wasn't easy to get one. I'd love to see her thriving. Really enjoy your videos!❤
Their pea vine. Would be great to have. About fifteen years ago they had about four different colors. I still have the dark pink one. Every year that gets taken outside where it flourishes with flowers.
So interesting! Loved this video.
Zapote juice is my favorite! iI love ove this channel, cheers
Such a wonderful video! :)
I liked the tour so much. Very interesting plants. Thank you ❤️
Here in UE, Brighamia insignis is heavily and mass produced in Holland for the indoor plants pot market. You can easily buy it for aroun 15€ in every garden center...
When I saw that fruit at 1:30, my mouth automatically produced 'saliva' which typically happens when you see sour food, so you could say that it made me 'salivate' 🤣🤣🤣✌️
nice collection, love the Begonias...you're lovely as always
Really awesome video! 😄
The synsepalum dulcificum is really cool I’ve never seen this fruit before, would love to eat it and then try lots of sour food right after.
I love the videos done with Logee’s
That Cabbage on a stick plant would be great to have, Brighamia insignis
I would love to have that potted mango. I have been trying to grow mangoes for a long time, have yet to find a good potted variety.
Explains in details.. i like it and got fruitful knowledge.
I missed Summer’s lovely voice in this
Loved all of them😍
Thank you Summer for putting out such awesome content! These Logee's series have been really enjoyable. Sending you some love from Singapore! I recently purchased some plants from Sandy at Terrascapes, which I discovered from youtube channel :)
Love this❤️
I like these videos from greenhouse. 👏👏👏
We called it Chico in the Philippines, the brown fruit summer eats
My favourite is the little star fruit tree! I grew up eating them :D If I can somehow get one up to Canada I totally would!!
It must heaven to work there . Hehehe ...
That Maher Dwarf is a star fruit or we call it balimbing in the Philippines it’s one of the popular fruits there!
Nice one like your videos thanks keep it up
Love the channel! I came here just watching cacti vids, the first vid I watched was the bunny ear cactus now I’m hooked I saw the cacti guys green house and that was amazing. I’m looking for a cliff rose and came across you.
I would like to see more hoyas 🙌❤️
Nicole Macon She did a video a couple of years ago about a woman in Sweden with an amazing collection of hoyas. Look for it.
Thanks for this! Love learning about new plants. I’m new to plant ownership. I have a few now. I’m learning general care and how to deal with pests. I would love to hear your thoughts on diatomaceous earth.
Where is it? America, Europe or Asia? It's my first time visiting your channel. I'll come back for sure. Love it!!!
It's Thai things Logees is a plants store in the state of Connecticut in the United States. Connecticut is very close to New York City.
Diospyros nigra is from the genus that yields ebony. The species is of Mexican origin and has escaped cultivation in the Philippines; wild populations are known. Medinilla miniata is endemic to the Philippines, where the genus is represented by close to 90 species, only a small number of which are in cultivation. Just imagine the untapped potential! And lastly, Manilkara zapota is known here as 'chico'. It was brought here from Mexico during the Manila galleons. Love the fruit, it's like eating brown sugar laced with vanilla. The flesh of the locally grown ones though is brown (the one you had seemed green) and the best time to eat them is when the fruit is soft; firm ones are unpalatable. The latex, called 'chicle' was developed as chewing gum decades ago and was initially marketed under the brand name 'Chiclet'.
I want that rare hibiscus propagated a lot
I love Zapote trees they are creamy and like all spice flavor and gritty. they are conical in shape in south florida magnolias dont really take well so that is the closest thing to it.
a good container plant is also brazilian cloak. they are esay to take care of just put in a sunny spot
i like begonias
