I disagree this elder in the video looks very much a mixture of Luo and Bantu. His skin is dark but not black like pure Nilotics. Also he has a somewhat large mouth and jaw, which are features that are not common in Nilotes or Cushites, but only in the Bantu

Kogot on the demolition of the first simba to usher in a wife in a new house, I think that was an old practice or if still practiced, it's exclusive to certain areas within Homabay County from which I also hail. I built my simba in which I married until I moved out to establish my own home leaving it standing just like the Mzee is saying it's done amongst the Suba. To be honest, Suba is fully assimilated and only exists in theory. People are only trying to save face and preserve imaginary identities. Like the positioning of the bedroom and kitchen, I think it's more of a deliberate practice to draw petty distinctions and have something to make them look different just for cultural contests.

We are Abasuba by the bloodline of our fathers, and we call ourselves Luo-abasuba by adopting the Luo language and borrowing some of their cultural activities. Speaking English does not make me become an England person, still Abasuba.

Their's no 100 percent suba blood. All of them are mixed. Every Luo has Suba blood and every Suba has luo blood. My Grand mom is Nya chula Kaksingri. All of us are mixed.

Phenotypically, do subas look like Kisii/ Bantu or Luo? Luos have a very distinct phenotype that can be found only with Nilotes . You can mistake a luo for a turkana even a kalenjin but not with a Bantu. Besides the features the bantu complexion is generally brown and luo complexion is generally dark. If we are honest, Subas are luos with some half bantu ancestry. Genetics dont lie

The difference between Luos and Kisiis is clear; if Kisii men come to Rongo town, everyone can identify them before they speak. Similarly, a Luo person is easily spotted in Kisii town. Some Luos want to be Bantu and mistakenly think they look like Bantus, but they don't. Kalenjins and Turkanas resemble Luos, and I often mistake many Kalenjins in Kericho for Luos. Sorry to break the news to you but Bantus and Nilotes are phenotypically different. This is just a simple fact you cant wish away.
Suba is originated from Ugandani Abasuba (Bantu). Then Runway avoided mass killing from Baganda with Jaluo(Nailotic) entering Kenya and Tanzania after being involved in killing the king of Buganda, but they copied Luo culture as were not getting Luo women until they removed the bottom teeth as Jaluo Men were doing.

It's really difficult (almost) impossible to get round grass-roofed huts in South Nyanza, Kenya now. Mostly they are 4-cornered, iron-roofed and has atleast 2 rooms.

So Jokaseru, Jo-ugu, Jo-wategi, Jo-Kaler, Jo-wagire were actually a cocktail of Kuria and Kisii peoples. My grandfather died in 1998 at 103. He could converse in a bantu language that was very similar to modern day Kuria language. As I write this, assimilation of Kakseru, wategi, Kaler and wagire is 100%. They speak the same language as Kenyan Luos and practise all Luo customs and traditions that are still practisable. Assimilation of Jo-ugu and is at 99% because there are still a few old men and women who can converse in Kuria language although they prefer Luo language. What I can observe is a sense of pride in identifying as bantus.

This is true. As I move North towards Ethiopia and South Sudan, I notice a very big difference in the physique of the luo.

Nonsense, most Luos in Kenya are brown skinned due to generations of intermarriage. Some bantus are even darker than Luos.
