- Bose's Companion 5 speaker system gets the Linus Tech Tips review treatment! This is only our 2nd speaker review ever, so your feedback is welcome even if it's as simple as "stop doing speaker reviews - I don't care". We ARE going to finish our series of 5 reviews that I already worked really hard on, but your feedback will affect our direction in the future :)

I have thease and years later, still rocking!
same here, matter of fact i just ordered a replacement control pod from bose, i started getting a humming sound from the pod...
@@ronduenyc76 awesome man!
Same hear
When I first heard these...I was in heaven if there is such a thing...the bass impact and sound quality was beyond amazing.
Your reviews get better and better. Great review Linus, really loving this series of speaker reviews. Keep it going!
Nooo, I don't think this channel is getting anywhere...
My Bose Companion 5 is still going strong since 2007, love them!
Watching this video shows how even Linus Media Group have developed themselves.
Their newer videos are much more entertaining and thankfully this is the case. Plus the new videos are longer and keep you entertained along the way.
Thank you for hiring Riley and everyone that plays around on your videos. (:
Do more speaker, headphone and audio reviews - I do care much.
well, maybe look for an audiotech channel then :).
I love linus, but an audiotech he isn't. neither is any one there apparantly since those 500 dollar ones he recently reviewed aren't even worth getting for 100...
If you are looking for good speakers, go to a studio store and pick up some nice studiomonitors (active ones don't need an amp;)).
for 200 ish dollars you can get a nice 20-20k range and more watts than your neighbours can stumack. do not spend extra on a sub, it's just... overkill and very hard to balance for non-professionals. in audio, balance is everything.
more than happy to help if you are looking ;)
Inspin nvg Well, I've been on audio channels quite some time, as I'm interested in audio and specifically headphones.
I like the more pragmatic and techy reviewing habit of Linus', he knows what he is doing and isn't some scetchy self-proclaimed audiophile who beliefs to hear the difference between two DACs (DACs, not amps), which can't be true from the technical point of view.
Like the ASTRO headphones.
This is a really good review
After owning BOSE companions for three years (I've moved on to having monitors similar the the A5+ hooked up to two subwoofers) I am amazed at how exactly my sentiments match your review (and super impressed at how you were able review it in such a short time frame). You are a true pro Linus.
Had these speaker for over 3 years and love them. Build quality is great too which comes in useful when moving between home and uni all the time
1) Reduce video speed to 0.5
2) Drunk Linus

>change speed to 2.0

much quick, such tech, very Linus, wow
hahahahahahaha
It's incredible how his voice is still so high pitched slowed down. lol
Personally, I have long since abandoned all hope to get a decent PC speaker setup. This is why I use a HiFi receiver and HiFi speakers as such. You can get a decent amp from acquaintances if they get rid of their old one or from ebay, this stuff is usually pretty solid even if it is 20+ years old by now. Add speakers of your choice and be happy. My favorite are JBL control one + a separate powered sub.
control one from jbl are brill little speakers yes
Yeah you are exactly correct, any Amp and Speakers from the last 20 years can deliver amazing sound on pc and they should design new more affordable 2.0 and 2.1 systems like this instead of the ugly plastic speakers they make with wires everywhere.
I was waiting for a review of that speakers, thanks Linus!
I have these, the Campion 5 on my gaming setup, and it's amazing the sound that comes out. I've completely given up on my G930s. The bass is amazing, and the ability they have to achieve an astonishing surround sound just with 2 speakers is incomprehensible, on a USB connection. I'd recommend them to anyone who has the money.
I've got the AudioEngine A5+ and love them.
Did you add the S8 sub? If so how do you like it and how much setup was there?
Man, I really enjoy linus but these prices are killing me.
I bought this system in 2005 and they are still going strong!! I can only imagine what the newer versions sound like.
bg0004009 Sorry to disappoint but they sound the same.
Same midrange drivers, same woofer components.
Bose themselves say that the differences are only about aesthetics
I picked these up on sale at Best Buy several months ago and I've really been blown away. I was very very pleased with the result. When I'm home alone and I want to game or listen to some music while I work, they're fantastic.
Linus, maybe you should try reviewing a standard budget pair of monitors for listening... like Krk Rokit 6. I still have a bias against these types of speakers. I think these Bose or even the B&W one from last time, do not provide the highest bang for the buck. You can get Rokit 6s secondhand for $300 or less.
I kinda like when my speakers dont sync up with my computer's volume control. It gives me more control over the volume
I've had Companion 5s for a long time and you can very much adjust the sound in the mid range with a simple equalizer such as equalizerAPO which is a free open source incredible equalizer and has capabilities beyond most listeners. If you change the direction of the satellite speakers you get a totally different sound. You have to play with the direction of the speakers, throw on a free equalizer as mentioned above and they are amazing. The volume puck has its issues, but easily fixed. I've put these speakers through Hell and back, from RVing to boating and other things and they just keep going like new. This is a bullet proof speaking system. You can even remove the stands and mount these to the wall or corners of a room. One must play with direction, and if you like base, these will blow you away. They run about 400 bucks, but in my opinion are well worth the money. The best test of any speaker is listen to them flat on a equalizer as the benchmark, if they sound good to you flat, you can't go wrong with these speakers. I've had mine for over a decade, they outlasted 5 laptops. Just plug and play in a USB port, Everyone's ear is a little different, you have to listen to them and play around with the direction of the speakers to actually grasp what you can do with them.
i know this is a very old video review but i still love my bose companion 5 and i still use them to this day. although the volume knob rubber melted but i was able to order an oem replacement from ebay.
companion 5 it's just too boss, had a great house party with them... great kick and no distortion at all. they also provide a really good sound for easy listening, best £150 I ever spent
IMO Linus you should not be comparing the Companion's to the A5's. They are for completely different purposes. The A5's are not only just bookshelf speakers, but also can be used as monitors for audio production. Only a dumbass would use Bose for this task. And although they are marketed as "desktop speakers" that is not really their forte. If you've been to a Bose outlet, they're set up in a small home-theater environment. The intention is to make music and movies the best they can sound, not the most accurate. The tweeters and sub will sound very sub par when tested individually, but you must understand that they are designed to all work together, similarly to how their home theater systems work. Bose's speakers always to me sound most like a movie theater's. They may not be the most accurate, (if you equate accuracy to good sound) but they are the most lifelike. As a musician I prefer to listen to Bose, because I notice that instrumental tracks sound not only live, but alive as well. Bose is for the pleasure listener, not the astute audio professional.
Thanks for your feedback.
I wish more people realised this, very good comment, Jon.
Bose vs Bowers & Wilkins? I happen to come across some lightly used B&W M1 Satellites and a B&W AWS608 sub for what could be considered a STEAL lol...
This comment made my day.
Dirty Mike I got these a week ago. You described my experience perfectly. The moment I plugged them in and played the first track I couldn't believe how lifelike the sound was. Pure genius. Very well tuned and balanced set. Fun speakers indeed.
You should do some Studio Monitor reviews, things like the Behringer B1030As haven't been covered anywhere and I'd love to hear your thoughts on them!
I really appreciate your speaker reviews because too often when I go to read reviews on a product I get such a mix of reviews that I don't know who is right, but at least if you're doing the review I know it's someone who has experience with a wide variety of audio systems.
I'd never heard that B.O.S.E acronym before :P Holy crap it's like a gift from god the irony. xD
I never knew that there was BOSE hate.
On headphone review websitres, and audiophile forums, the bose hate is strong.
Bose hate among audio enthusiasts is very strong. I personally find the hate silly, Bose doesn't only cater to the audio enthusiast groups, but your average person too...
I didn't know Bose wanted to reach those wanna-be audiophiles.
I never knew of it either... I happen to like the Bose 301 setup I have, coupled with a 350w Pioneer Amp and a 150w powered Subwoofer the quality of the sound is outstanding. Ok, they aren't a desktop solution, but my setup was probably lower in price than these....
go to head-fi.org and bask it in, bose blows
These are my most favorite speakers ever. I loved them so much and need to buy them again. (other was taken by someone). They sound soo good.
I have the companion 3. I really like this set up, they are loud enough and clear enough for me. I used to run a Sony 6.1 receiver with bookshelf speakers witch was loud and sounded good and I got the companion 3's for my second PC and after using them for a little while I found myself using them more and so I plugged them into my main PC and got rid of the surround sound to use the companions. A lot may ask why, but I really like the clarity of the bose and for movies, somehow the companions will sound like the sound that is supposed to be behind actually sounds like it's coming from speakers behind you. I don't know how they did that but it's pretty cool. I also have the bass right in the middle, it's the best all around.
I have those Bose companion 5 speakers since 2014, every penny worth it. !
Me too and they still work great and sound great. I don't get the haters.
@@timparr246 Expensive price, mediocre at best performance.
Mine is 13 years. All of my computer was changed and this one it always stays! Magnificent sound and construction..
@@zedrickapollo4290 Bose is indeed a quality.

I cant stop listening to that :DDD
I find it awesome that you are doing speaker reviews!! Cheers from India!
I'm in the market for buying a good set of 2.1's so keep the speaker reviews coming! I'm looking for something that's integrating nicely with a 3 wide monitor setup, without having the speakers too far to the sides.
I had the companion 3 series as my PC speakers for a year or two ($200) They were pretty weak so I "downgraded" to a Klipsch 2.1 for $150 and my god talk about a step up in sound quality and power. Bose is mostly for looks, not practicality.
Comments like this erk me so much. Sound quality has to be one of the most subjective topics on the internet.
Hype3rshadow
Why? I'm stating I saved money and got a better system. Subjective or not you can measure it scientifically. Fact is it's just a better system. Sorry that bothers you?
Rushnerd define "weak" i have the older 3 series and i can crank them up and nearly fill the house with sound that sounds clear and good...
Dan M
Clear and good? The sub limits itself pretty fast. Think whatever you want but for the price the wattage is pretty damn low on that system.
Trust me I didn't know myself what I was missing until I tried other PC 2.1 setups.
Andrew Moore in this case fair enough, i just don't like people that use one example in which bose may lose and then claim that all of their products are trash.
ONLY SHIT 400$? I have 5.1 Logitech 400W for 140€ (194$) and those things kick ass! Great Highs, Great mids, everything crystal clear and they give out a HUGE volume, I never found myself using it at more than half because it would start to hurt my ears on a closed room.
Well yeah, when you buy Bose, most of what you're paying for is their marketing bill and their CEO bonus.
what kind of logitech?
Z901 or something like that
I've had my pair since 2008 and haven't even given the thought of replacing them. Still kicking ass all these years later
13 years later mine still going strong. Love the sound. Yet to find one as good as it.
please do a review of the microlabs fc330. Or just more budget friendly speakers in general.
its bad. dont buy them
Archy Gogitidze well a video review by Linus would've been better but this will have to do. Thanks for the review buddy.
please review some passive speakers too.
And active subwoofers.
I use the yamaha MSP7 STUDIO MONITORS WITH SW10 SUB. really good to listen to. you can crank them as high as you want and you will never hear distortion.
Are they louder than the companion 2 serie 3 ?
Hey Linus, can you review some of the Creative stuff, I own some good creative ones and haven't listened to any thing that sound better than these. So, I want to judge my speakers standing by means of your reviews.
I am not judging them I am just saying that the best I have heard and by that I mean I haven't heard any good ones but unlike me he has heard some good ones so I want him to review creative speakers.
I second this Idea ... Creative has some great speakers, I believe some of their Gigaworks/ ZiiSound range are THX certified. Would love to see a comparison of those along with their flagship 2.0 speaker set, the Gigaworks T40 Series II.
***** You're being an idiot on the internet. Stop it.
Not everyone has the ability to A. Afford every kind of audio system, and B. Dont always live close enough to a shop to go and try them irl.
Which is why...we like to get the opinion of a reviewer...WHO DOES...have access to a large variety of products. Stupid ass.
*****
that is the silliest things I have heard in a while. If he has prior experience with speakers, why can't he make that judgement?
***** If he was an ordinary guy I would support you but unfortunately he is a reviewer with 5+ yrs of experience =)
LinusAudioTips :D
I've had my Companion 3 Bose speakers for 3 years, I really like them.
Bought these years ago. Still sound great to me. They were almost too loud in fact. Clarity was very good too.
I'm sitting here with my $80 logitech speakers...
im sitting here with my 45$ philips speakers :P
DeamonEye13 Im sitting here with my $15 headphones
Sitting here with my $2.5k (new) 7.1 setup. Denon avr-3803, PSB floorstanding speakers, Cerwin Vega Center, and Advent woofer (now subwoofer) placed in a 3 cubic foot box tuned to 30hz.
I'm sitting with a $600 Sennheiser headphones and with no speakers!
I'm sitting here with my $75 Panasonic speakers! And extremely worn out BOSE headphones!
Oh, and nice system PANASONIC! Yep Bose systems are rebranded, redesigned PANASONIC Systems! Go look at the tag, it will say "Made in the USA from foreran components"! Which just happens to be PANASONIC manly and others!
Some info about the speakers maybe? Or u just show us how they look and then we have to find out everything ourselves?
Did you just not finish the video? Or were you not paying attention?
its not about spec, its about what you hear, it's amazing
He talked about the sound, everything else is irrelevant and very easy to google.
Yes! More external speaker reviews, please!
i have these speakers they are amzing the base is much more clear than the other speakers i have tryed the are the best go and by them now.
Dam it where is your AMD r9 295x review Linus?!
AMD didn't send me a card. Hard to do a review without a card.
Woa youtube just recommend me this video, watch my man 10y young is great =))
nice one on these speaker reviews! kudos
I love my companions. I've had them for a fair few years but I REALLY wish that they had put the bass controls somewhere more convenient than the back of the sub. I have to keep mine down low because it is too much ass ache to get under my desk every time I switch use cases.
Bose stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment. No highs, no lows, must be Bose! If your in the market for computer speakers take a look at the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 or the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks.
Harman/Kardon Soundsticks? I work with harman/kardon equipment all day long. They sound OK, but probably not much better than these bose, and personally, I think the bose looks much better. I've tried out some bose before, but I ended up returning them because the sound quality wasn't really that great. I ended up buying the Klipsch Promedia 2.1. Those are definitely better than the bose and the Harman/Kardon Soundsticks, and they are cheaper as well. I ended up getting mine on special for $120. The sub on that set is a beast. I have to keep the subwoofer at a low level 99% of the time
I too prefer the Klipsch over the Soundsticks, I just used it as another cheaper alternative. The Promedia set is the best bang for the buck EVER in computer speakers, it is immense!
i have both bose companion 5 also klipsch promedia 2.1. I connect it in the same time with my imac ( i can connect bose companion with usb port, while klipsch on head jack port, so i can switch easily from sound setting). im not an audio pro, but from what i hear, i love bose more than klipsch. my wife also agree with it. but on the other hand, my father like klipsch more than bose.
sound is really personal taste, you won't be able to say this better that that until you hear it your self.
Worst answer so far ! Its only high low mid is nowhere ! bose goof marketing buy bowers en wilkinson or other stuff
I'm happy with the 100$ Bose companion 2 series iii. I can't see myself spending 400$ for speakers even though they look nice.
i just got my companion 2 today
I am very interested in seeing more PC monitor or TV related reviews. That's the component I'm most likely to upgrade often, in addition to my GPU.
in this series you should have looked at harmon kardon soundsticks, they are the only speakers i have seen that actually fit on a small desk and have great sound.
Bose is not the Beats of hifi speakers or Apple of cell phones. I say this because their products are actually GOOD. Not the best sound but they do what they are supposed to do but are just PRICEY. THAT'S IT!!!!! Just a little pricey if it was cheaper then they would be much higher rated. Beats on the other hand 300$ looks nice but it has poor build quality and my 15$ Sony ear buds sound extremely similar. Apple is the also extremely pricy and it is years behind android. It just has a nice camera on the iPhone 6 when it is still extremely similar to androids who have more than just a nice camera at a lower price. Yes Bose is pricey like apple and beats but it is still really good in multiple ways instead of one. Yes I've heard a lot of sound systems and Bose isn't near the best but it is still one of the best, I've had multiple Bose systems for a LONG time and under really heavy every day use, it still delivers great sound. I appreciate the sound from these speakers as there are still hundreds of speakers that are much worse than Bose and that's because Bose still gives great sound. I just believe Bose deserves LESS hate than it really gets. Its not a bad product, its just expensive!
I was hoping you'd make that joke *claps* BRAVO
+Jordon Brewer What joke lol?
WeedIsGood the Apple and Beats joke
Ah kuk
Beats have poor build material and acceptable build quality, but their bass is astonishing good.
I've been using the Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers since 2010. They sound damn nice. I think I paid $130 for them.
$400-500 for a set of PC speakers is absolutely absurd....imo of course.
I thought so too. But, when you get a taste of what you are missing the absurdity turns into frustration or bose bashing or save up and buy. I've never found sub audiophile speakers of the quality bose has. It's simply the best. They know it and in this life and culture you get what you pay for. Trust me you'd love these speakers.
@@RobertHouse101 Hy there, reading your comment seem to me you own the Bose system. Can you tell me how much better they would be in comparison to the Logitech Z2300 ? I have the Logitech now like 10 years, and I want to upgrade to the Bose Companion 5 or 50. Thanks in advance.
@@RobertHouse101 FFS, you don't know what you're missing either. Frustration for having bought bose should've gotten you already. What the hell..
Hey linus, you should do a review in Harmon Kardon Soundsticks 3. People have been comparing them to the Bose Companion 5's. Great speakers because I own a pair of soundsticks 3 myself.
I got the Bose Companion 3 series II, they are pretty nice speakers, I like the way they look, sound, the remote is really nice. Best speakers I have ever had. They are a little smaller than the Companion 5. I think they look better too, they are more square then rectangle.
I know Bose is overpriced, etc. But I don't change my Bose Soundlink Mini for any other portable speaker. When it comes to size, it's the smallest with better quality. On home theaters, etc. I would buy any other brand, or custom build them.
Bose comes in 1 sound quality EXELLENT.
Please PLEASEEEEE do more reviews like this. I have all my music on HD (like a lot of other people) and play thru iTunes so things like this, DAC reviews etc, would be very much appreciated.
I had just bought this speaker to replace of my 1 year old harman kardon sound stick iii, the upgrade is worth the money, bose sounds more thick compared to hkssiii sound so thin although for music wise harman gives more treble on mid and high but overall, imho, still prefer the bose for music, movie or gaming.
The sound is impressive from the small satellite speaker, the sound made u though that this is from a big speaker, the bass module wont shake the house like edifier s730 or promedia 2.1 does, but it does give the feel of the bass deep into ur heart at any volume, unlike big woofer punch the air for the feeling.
The bose is just nice as it advertised, watching movie is so much fun and gaming as well, u will get wider sound from different direction compared to 2.1 setup, dont waste ur time and money to try other speaker in the market, bose c5 is probably the best 2.1 desktop speaker ever.
what if i want to create an earthquake that shakes the house down for $2000?
***** they dont look very nice but they could still sounds good.
There are so many options it's ridiculous
jayfulf good, i like options
Lawrence Timme www.teufelaudio.com/?ac_type=warenkorb&ac_name=update&vw_type=artikel&vw_name=detail&vw_id=152&delivery_country=71 This will do it
ROTAX129 they look excellent. 2 subs as well. i like bass :P
So I didnt get the "buy other sound equipment joke". Why the hell is Bose bad? Maybe it isnt the perfect choise for home usage, but have you heard how Bose sounds in cars? Its the best one I've heard from all the stock choices that car companies use in their cars.
I've got Bose in my Audi, it's amazing!
As I said, it works the best in cars.
People often hate Bose because: 1) they don't have enough money and are jealous of people who spend theirs on Bose. 2) they have no idea what makes Bose good (the loudness to speaker size is outstanding, and the bass is extraordinary). And this one is really prevalent. Most people think its all about volume, when it's really about HOW they are loud(especially important for the bass). Some people would rather a subwoofer bigger than their sofa, and then get a good experience, but with Bose you get similar performance in a much smaller package.
PS, i completely agree, was at a motor show once, Audi decided to light up the entire hall with their Bose speakers in one of their cars, just amazing. The only thing that tops Bose in cars as far as i know is the B&O addon in Audi's (which are like $6000 if i remember correctly)
Christoffer Nørskov The B&O is more powerful and the design looks a bit better. I wanted to get that one, but it is damn expensive and would've cost me $12000(!) vs. $2000 for the Bose...
Yea, i would probably just stick with Bose as well, the B&O are not worth the extra price, they are better, but not 6-12 k better
I'm still using my REALLY old altec lansing ACS 295, those are ancient but work really quite well.
i would love to see more speaker kits! klipsch and logitec.... some 5.1 systems...
how can these really be good for gaming? you pretty much need surround sound in games, i dont care if the quality isnt very good, surround sound is a neeeeed for gaming.. stereo is only ok for headphones since they are directly beside each ear but desktop speakers are normally directly infront of you.
I'd have quality over 5.1... honestly
Only OK for filthy casuals.
Then get a good headphone+mic set
Gaming does not need surround. Sheep.
***** Virtual surround is a gimmick, I'm going to paraphrase Linus for a minute but you only have two ears so you only need two drivers because they are so close to your ears they still give excellent sound location
I thought Bose had the best sound quality? I don't know much about tech.
They're popularly thought that way among most consumers. There are plenty of better options, just no one knows about them.
GlenwingKyros Which ones? I have a sennheiser Rs-170 is that good?
I did too before I knew anything about audio. It's just like people who know nothing about computers think Apple is the best, it's all marketing. The main reason bose falls flat is they take style over substance, their speakers are TINY and go against why is normally used.
GlenwingKyros Bose sound quality never fails. It may be overpriced but no one can deny the sound and build quality of bose products. Just like the guy above me who commented about apple...Macs are amazing computers. The price-performance ratio is insane for what you can get otherwise but no one can deny the quality of those computers.

Thanks, my computer broke of sarcasm again.
keep these speaker reviews cominggggggg
love for you to make of a review video for low end speaker setups, like $100 dollors or less, i lost when it comes to figuring out what makes speakers good and what makes them bad and what makes them sound clear and what makes them sound loud and mostly all the different ones like 5.1, 7.1, 2.0, 2.1 and so on, love your videos and love to have your feedback
I did not know Bose recieved so much hate
Same
xXx_illuminati_overload_xXx Are you sure? Because when I think of overpriced audio equipment, my mind goes straight to Beats.
Yup I was thinking beats
cole sweet because they sound like a cow shittin
I hope they go out of business or stick with their car speakers
NerdyBassHead 2004 You obviously never owned the companion 5 set. I've had mine since 2012 and that's what I'm still using, I've yet to find a 2.1 that sound as good. Nub.
I rather get logitech's Z906 5.1 thx certified much more bang for the buck.
agreed!
I've got a set of Microlab SOLO6c and there great for the money. Very good sound quality but the only issue is that when both inputs are used there is a subtle hum although I only use 1 anyway.
i recently got the klipsch promedia 2.1 after enjoying the budget S4is (v2) for 125 dollars around...and it seems to be a better bang for my buck...but if anything though keep up the good work linus! love hearing these reviews about audio products and other things along with your humor

8 years or thereabouts here.
mrChristopher012 Hell yeah how was it?? I own Bose too but not these I have a more complicated set up. I have the 301's they need an amp yes I have a home theater set up but it works well for me music sounds awesome and clear because of Bose. BOSE FTW!!!!!!!!!

Dear Linus you make a lot's of awesome custom PC's but why not custom speakers...
So I want to upgrade my Altec ACS340 to one of these Bose Companion Speakers. Should I go for 20 or 5? I have a portable desktop build.
I love my bose headphones, I've listened to many high end headphones and they are by far my favorite, especially for music with a lot of treble. I use my audio technica ath m50xs for a more balanced sound signature though

S-Speaker? For PC? What? Who.. How, i don't... Guh, i give up...
This generation, oh boy.
??? Your post doesn't even make sense. I had speakers on my HP in 1995
kungfufreak360 I'm sorry, i just don't get why someone would pay more than 30$ for desktop speakers.
If i want to play a game, i do so with a good headset, if i want to listen to some music, i do so on my high fidelity and if i want to watch a movie, i do so on my TV, i just don't see the point of paying for desktop speakers that will only do half the job. But whatever, i don't judge.
SonOfGuardians Well, other than wanting to not have a pair of headphones on consistently, my friend Christa has hearing problems and has to wear rather bulky hearing aids. That make 90% of headphones not fit properly and feel awkward for her.
WarpGenesis I'm sorry, i didn't even thought of that when making my comment, it is, indeed, a good reason, i guess the *is* a reason for these to exist.
Scratch what i said earlier, even though i still stick to it, it doesn't really matter now!
SonOfGuardians i agree except maybe nowhere over like 100 maybe

What is headphone output amplification rated for? I am thinking of getting a pair of DT 770 (250 ohms) and was wondering if the headphone output would be enough to suitably power the headphones. I can't seem to find this information anywhere online.

may i know what type of device used to plug and play on the puck's AUX input ? we used USBs and HDMIs nowadays.
Found a gigantic 1991 15W Panasonic boombox with a 5-segment graphic EQ. Twelve bucks at the thrift store. Works perfectly. Easily more powerful and clear than the Bose at 3% the cost.
