  • Over the past few years, we have seen a lot of media reports about third-party cookies; from privacy concerns to their demise in web browsers.
    Both Safari and Firefox block third-party cookies by default and Google Chrome set to follow suit in the near future.

    Great video on third-party cookies. Shedding some light on user identities through the cookie syncing/matching process, user identification, cross-device identification, audience segmentation, attribution, the unethical use of user data and why the idea on removal of 3P cookies was suggested in the first place.

    Great talk, but I still don't get how 1st party cookies can be used to remarketing? When it's still possible, why is everyone crying over the lose of 3rd party?

      Thanks! The reason why everyone is saying that remarketing/retargeting won't be available when third-party cookies get turned off is because the scale won't be available anymore. You can run remarketing across multiple websites with third-party cookies. You can still run remarketing with other IDs and even first-party IDs, but the scale will be much more limited -- i.e. you won't be able to run remarketing on the same number of websites as you can today.
