That was awesome to have the SP GE AC4400 pulled the Daylight cars and then have Daylight 4449 led the AC4400, SP 4449 and GE AC4400 are my favorite steam and diesel of Southern Pacific. in fact, I have HO Scale 4449 and SP AC4400 #352 (same number as your SP diesel, because the real SP 352 was unpatched until 2016 as UP sent her to Jenks shops to be repainted into that disgusting UP Yellow), I use to have the diesel pulled the Daylight coaches long time ago.
being able to make a train tht never exisited from scratch is not ease but it allows me to use my creativity and give inspiration to other modelers that have tried or thought of doing it but never attempted again...thats one of the many reason's i like model trains and it also refelcts with the real ones also..and my hotwheels collection allows me to recreate everyday life with traffic jam's on my layout.look more into trains and u'll see the passion behind them :-)..i hope this helps u out :-)
Awesome! I wish we could ride a real Metrolink train with the old Southern Pacific Coaches that could be neat. I like your collection very cool passenger and freight equipment.
Interesting collection. Surfline represented by its 3 rail lines. I understand METROLINK and COASTER reach as far as SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO. This is the middle point of the surfline.
I like your Union Pacific and Southern Pacific locomotive too Nice to see the old Southern Pacific in the original Red and black. I Saw a Shasta daylight stream train Metrolink 1940 😁👍
Very enjoyable to watch. I have an Amtrak N gauge train set I have set up in my living room from late November to early January that consists of an Amtrak P42 engine, baggage car, 2 sleepers, dining car, sightseer lounge car, coach baggage & 2 regular coaches which I call the Texas Eagle. At a future date I'll add a P42 dummy, another sleeper, regular coach & it will be the Sunset Limited. My goal is to have it be the Coast Starlight.
Sometimes it is a whole experience. I collect steamers because I am captivated by the prototypes and the era. However I really like the metrolink set as it brings memories of good trips on the metrolink (yes Iv'e rode on the prototypes) and it is fascinating to own a working miniature of something so powerful and visible in your own life... I wonder when Atheran will make a mp40 or that new silver locomotive...
Metrolink did lease coaster coaches one Time I believe. Metrolink, Amtrak, and coaster serve the surfliner route. Nice trains you got. Wasn't it orginaly operated by southern Pacific in the 50s-60s? I believe that The Shasta daylights rolled over that line too.
the coaster was a bachmann?, heck I go to eBay daily and never see one there, I did stop watching the vid early on the first time, but came back and watched the GS4 pull the BB athearn daylight cars, and I apologize about the superliners, but I didn't think they were walthers, besides, I have over 30 passenger cars, Mostly for my San Francisco Overland & San Joaquin Daylight passenger trains, not counting the custom dome cars and Business cars I made from heavyweight obscars.
Looks like these 2 passenger trains Metrolink and Coaster are both the same thing and both the same size too with 1 engine and 3 coaches of double-decker passenger cars that are 16 feet high and tall and carries passengers
My N scale track is Kato unitrack, so are two thirds of my N scale locomotive are Kato, 3 Amtrak P42’s, Santa Fe EMD SDP40F number 5253, Southern Pacific EMD SD70M number 9804, the GS4 4-8-4 Southern Pacific Daylight number 4449. I also have the 10 car Morning Daylight set which is my excursion train. The other third of my N scale locomotives are an Atlas which is my static display locomotive, the other 2 are Bachmann F7A units of the Alaska & Union Pacific railroads that I will be sending to the Bachmann factory to have new trucks & knuckle couplers put on them. I’m in the process of building my permanent layout so the Pacific West Coast model railroad which is the name of my model railroad will be up & running by the end of April.
@kearthfan101 is there lighs for the metrolink cab car? also is there the red lights too when the train is going backwards? and is there lights inside the train?
its sure is..i've been into both cars and trains since I was 5 years old and never stopped..oh thts good to hear that others inspire you.. thts really awesome!!..just rememeber u can make it anyway u want to..plus it'll be unquie and u can say " I made that" :-)..i am sure u'll do fine with it..and if u have any questions i'll be happy to answer them..if its possible could u please keep me posted on the progress u make i would like to see this diorama u make...keep up the awesome work :-)
anytime.indeed we all are different collectors and thts cool.its shows the varity plus u get to make new friends along the way :-).oh thts cool.have u've seen the hotwheels RC ones?.they are pretty sweet.well yes but it also attracts people that want to recreate a real location.example the PRR railroad in Pennsylvania or it even attracts people that had trains when they were kids.but i think a main reason is owning ur own railroad in minature form also. yeah i feel the same way about my cars :-)
Temp layout? Usually HO isn't built for outdoors as it can corrode the wheels and rails. That's what G scale is for. Of course a few hours outside in nice weather won't do any harm.
I'm SO fricken jealous you have an SP AC4400. Don't patch that one since the real one is still unpatched.. You should get DCC in your stuff. I highly recommend it
I also remember when we talked on Skype that you had a Metrolink loco with the Corrugated fluting and numbered 875. Looks like you gotten another Metrolink loco numbered 882 unless i'm mistaken
plus there are soo many different types of trains to buy and chose from..i buy trains from all over the world from Germany, and France to Canada and even alaska...i mean u got different types of diesels, steam, electric's and even gas turbined powered trains..the varity is endless...i custom make freelance or Fantasy locomotives tht could have been built but were never built..all of them are based on production models but are totally new ones on their own
Is this layout outside? If so what do you guys do about the weather elements and such? Also what do you guys do to prevent rust from getting on the tracks if you don't do anything to prevent rust, how do you guys clean the rust off the rails after it rains and such?
Great presentation of a nice collection. Thanks for sharing. Building the temporary layout with tracks with ballast (Bachmann?) is smart because of the protection against dust and dirt. A hint for Your family for next X-mas: Donate the guy thr one or other additional car for the beautiful SP Daylight: Coach, vista dome or dining car and You make him happy (I hope). Gave a like and greatings from Germany. Joachim
well i can help u with tht...u said u like collecting diecast cars right?..why do u do?..i collect them because there are soo many types with soo many colors..not to mention you can even customize them to what u want them to be..model railroading is the samething but u can do more..it allows u to recreate trains from the past that no longer exisit or even a rare one u see today...thts the passion about this hobby u can make ur own world anyway u want to and be happy

Awesome collection! They're all beautiful trains but that Daylight has to be my favorite!
The dash 9 in ho scale is so amazing
Awesome! I wish we could ride a real Metrolink train with the old Southern Pacific Coaches that could be neat. I like your collection very cool passenger and freight equipment.
That was fun! Loved that you had your track set up outside for that natural light realism. Loads of superb angles and terrific sound. Terrific video!

0:36 Metrolink F59PHI with long passenger train overtakes a Southern Pacific 9-44CW
5:12 the train is going to hit the camera. What happens? Does the train go through it or hit it.
Ha ha! Them F59-PHI's are powerful little suckers!
These are steam train videos on 5:17

Nice! you even had Coaster cars in there
very nice
I'm so amazed and impressed
Omg I watched this when I was 4!
What is wrong with the locomotive at 4:05. I looks like it has no detail or windows or anything.
Appears to be still in the Work in Progress stage. He said it was custom painted so it's probably just not done with details and windows yet.
That makes sense
