    As a swede I can translate what it says on the "apple soup" bag.
    Tear the bag at the dotted line. Measure out 4 dl of cold water. Whisk the contents of the bag into the water and let the soup boil for at least 5 minutes while stirring. The bag can be used as a canteen.

    • @Oldsmokey1
      @Oldsmokey1  6 років тому +6

      Oh wow the bag could be used as a canteen huh? That's crazy to think of that stuff boiling in the bag. But I'll say it was awesome in its cold form. Thanks for the clear translation on that and thanks for watching.... Later.

    • @nilsbjorndahl7427
      @nilsbjorndahl7427 6 років тому

      "Mätkärl" literally means measuring vessel. So when you rip the bag at the dashed line the bag will be able to contain 4 dl of fluid. The last line says "The bag can be used as a measuring vessel." So you shouldn't heat up the bag.

    • @b0glextra
      @b0glextra 6 років тому +1

      To be fair I completely missed the dots above the a, my bad. Matkärl is the Swedish word for canteen. Mätkärl would be translated to measuring cup.

    I just wanted to throw a comment up for any of my newer viewers. It might seem like I'm not eating a ton but I always, I mean always finish my food.....as long as it's still edible. That being said once I turn the camera off that's when I chow down and finish up my meal. I'm very grateful for every meal that I have. Especially the ones provided by my friends and fans. I thank anyone who is watching and taking the time to read this comment...... Later.

    My mother's in her 60s and she's always said soda. But my grandparents called it tonic. Pop wasn't something I ever heard except from movies and TV shows set in the south.

    • @Oldsmokey1
      @Oldsmokey1  6 років тому

      I've always called it pop. Soda sounds like a notherner to me but I know I've said it around people when I worked out of town and they acted like they didn't understand what I was talking about. I guess both just stem from when they called it soda pop all the time.

    ohh Swedish Army äppelsoppa and leverpastej! Love it! Ate it in the Army and loved it! Still have a stach of both that I eat now and again and still love it! But the leverpastej needs to be eaten with the Vetekex 100g! And YES, the apple soup is supposed to be cooked before eaten! So follow the instructions exactly! Put the 4 dl of water in your mess tin, then add the soup mix and then let it boil for 5 min, no more, no less, while stiring. Then it's ready to eat! From my personal experience that apple soup is great to mix with oats! I have a 10-portions can of the same apple soup from October 1978 that I use for my breatfast oatmeal at the moment and it just tastes delicious! A perfect way to spice up your oatmeal! Cheers from Sweden!

    The apple soup IS supposed to be heated. The reason it says to add cold water at first is because hot water would likely cause the powder in it to clump up (or gelatinize, if there's some starch in it). You can see the same instructions on many other freeze dried/powdered food products.

    • @Oldsmokey1
      @Oldsmokey1  6 років тому

      Ah that makes sense. But I've gotta say it was awesome cold. Which I was thinking maybe your supposed to boil it then let it cool down before eating idk. But I'd halft to say from my experience eating it cold it's great that way.

      Gotta love the Beast. I love his content. I almost did this video as an omage to L.A Beast. I was thinking of turning the camera over and eating the burger, the shot, and liver as a gauntlet. He's got balls of steel and takes on challenges like a Boss. Back to the burger. I had to try it. It's one of those things I can check off of my ration list now.

      Oh I just realized you meant you boiled the burger. I was thinking the liver was what you boiled because of its age. The burger wasn't that bad cold though. The heat does weird things to it no matter what. Both ways gave it different flavors. I can check it off the list now though.

      Yeah LIVER not my thing. I've avoided it my entire life and now I know why. It's pretty nasty but some people like it idk how. The

    Awesome review.
    I can confirm that the translation for the apple soup was correct. It says you're supposed to stir the contents of the package into 4 dl of cold water, then boil it for 5 minutes while stiring. It's pretty much the same instructions for all soup nowadays. The reason it says cold water I assume is to distinguish from stirring directly into hot or boiling water. Or it could be because we use tap water over here, and since you usually go for cold water (rather than room temperature) it says cold, to be precise. I really don't know.

    Everytime i see the burger, I get the need to buy it.
    Even tho they are made in Germany (which is way closer than one would like to), it's damn expensive. 20$ (+postage) for can full of dud? No way. For that kind of money you could make 10 burgers with actual meat in 'em.
