"Blooms of Oblivion" lyrics:
Judas come close to me
Visit in visions
Tell me the story of how
you swing like an actor in the greyest of gardens
your tongue hanging free from you mouth
Down at the methadone clinic we waited
hoping to take home your cure
The curdling cowards, the crackle of china
you say that its making you pure
And just like Flowers for Algernon
something's diminished
There’s a love like you've never known pinned to your finish
One, two, six underfoot and you will rise
And in all of your blooms of oblivion
I love you
See?
Maker, I'm close to you
to deal your departure
to make sure you’re nailed to the ground
and all of the glamours, of treacherous traitors
have all run away from you now
I will stand over you
to breathe in your vapor
as pieces and parts, they dissolve
You plead you as failure
You wait for a savior
but leave knowing nothing’s resolved
And we bring flowers from Albion up to your vision
Hold back the love that you've never known
you've only this prison
Straight to the hangman’s noose, are we born this way?
Handing down a fistful of sorries you will never say
I love you
See?
Say

Sargent House is the A24 of music labels.
Damn, thats a really good comment.
agreed ahaha
Good for us
Sargent house is far superior. I don't like A24 a lot of their movies are incompetent.
@@peachcloudz nah.
Her and Chelsea Wolfe have both been haunting my Stereo and my Mind for awhile now. Looking forward to hearing the whole album.
Mine too 😌🖤
@@jinabrasser9439 Mine too... next month will be a good month with them both releasing new albums
Same. And Marissa Nadler as well. I would love to see them all one day
Absolutely. These ladies speak to all of the places I try to hide.
Listen to this : Angel Olsen - "Windows" ua-cam.com/video/0CQSOoFlaxI/v-deo.html
I really wish everybody finds one day an artist in their lives that means as much as ERR means to me.
dont get me wrong ethel cane makes beautiful music but ERR lives rent free in my mine all day every day
Got to be among the most underrated artists in the world, to be honest.
Exactly, I wish that more people knew about her music
Bless Emma Ruth Rundle for whilst i listen, thee internet CEASES to exist
Amen
The beginning of this song reminds me of Flatlands by Chelsea Wolfe. Both are lovely songs.
I immediately thought of Flatlands too.
ERR and Ethel Cain have been constantly in my headphones.
Her face reminds me of my mother that I haven't seen in 20 years.
Emma just always achieves a different shade of fragility. Neither darker or deeper or any pretentious shite like that: it's unapologetically personal and honest. And it's fantastic.
worded it perfectly
It's like she's channeling the spirit of Leonard Cohen with this one. It feels like the music that comes from the recognition of the liminal spaces between the self and eternity...
I was feeling a Townes Van Zandt vibe.
With some Cat Power madness too.
I had the same Cohen thought, thanks for validating it
I love this. For some reason this gave off "Something in the Way" vibes
Dude I know right!!
Can totally get that.
I can totally get that….it also gives me ‘Can’t Complain’ by Nickel Creek vibes 😌🖤
Same chords in the verse. Can't help but think this is about Evan, he's talked about his love of drugs a lot before. Wonder if the brown got him and that tanked the marriage.
@@davidcjupp oh are they split up?!
How can an artist continually improve their craft and stay so true to their original sound? Emma is truly a gift to this world!
A powerful statement on addiction by one of the truest artists in the world today.
This won't get old for me in my lifetime.
this song makes me smile & cry simultaneously
She's changing, evolving and blooming in front of our very eyes. We are seriously lucky to experience this. I'm still haunted by her "Return” and now this....
Took the words right out of my mouth.
I see her evolving and blooming as well. Sort of a rebirth, if you will...
I listen to return at least five times a day. So excited for this album and hopefully get to see her live.
I hope she makes it…
Lads and Lasses and They: I am not qualified to offer this opinion...but I feel like ERR is one of the most important artists in recent memory, whatever your memory is, and whatever your time is. This artist is one of the best I have ever seen/heard in my lifetime. This song is so good. Emma has many other fantastic stories told. 'Return' might be one of the greatest songs written to date, here in 2***.
Detail that keeps on giving:: pleasing use of alliteration
I watched this for the third time today, and everything clicked - the spoons, the poppies, and when the dark figure (Death, from Return?) approaches to put the black coat on the little girl and Emma sings 'I love you' to the camera, I just cracked and wept
Starting to think this song is about Evan (her ex husband) - he's talked about his love of drugs a lot in the past. Wonder if the brown got him and it tanked the marriage.
@@davidcjupp So many potential meanings before one even gets to that. Seems a pretty clear childhood reference from the video, but I don't think listeners need to know the exact meaning, necessarily. Speculating on the artist's personal life too deeply seems awkward
@@wildernesshymnal I mean she's openly referenced her divorce in a lot of the interviews for the album release and the lyrics in this song are about as direct as it gets with the Methadone clinic line and 'in all your blooms of oblivion, I love you.' I'd agree with you if the lyrics were more elliptical. Plus check her Twitter, it sounds like the marriage was pretty awful by the end. Just my take. Wasn't trying to be intrusive or disrespectful ,she's one of my favourite artists.
When I clicked on this video I did not expect to hear one of the best acoustic guitar songs I've ever heard!
The transition into color at the end gave me chills. I love the song and video, Emma.
i’m someone who is actively battling addiction (opioids, heroin, benzos) and it took me about 20 seconds into listening (on spotify first) to realize what the song is about, to me at least. the title of the song then made so much sense to me. poppies.
emma always manages to touch my soul in a way that really no other artist has been able to. i discovered her several years ago, probably 6 years ago, while watching the show The Fosters. i’ve been so in love with her and her art ever since. i listened to “shadows of my name” and “run forever” for a week straight before i left home at 16 and went down a scary, dark, drug-fueled rabbit hole for 3 months and wound up in treatment. ive been teetering between sobriety/recovery and hedonism/addiction ever since, but this song really spoke to me. thank you emma. 🖤
I place no judgement upon you or anyone, but I want everyone on earth to know that my ex is now in her 6th rehab attempt and has been so overcome by her nearly lifelong addiction to opiates that it has prevented her from living a normal life, being a mother to her beautiful child, dealing with life in general, overdosing and triggering seizures, being placed in the E.R. many many times, losing custody battles in court, and if it weren't for her Father and Mother who are still alive today, would probably be sleeping in an alley somewhere prostituting herself unto death (either become a victim of physical abuse, a pimp, murder or human trafficking). And there's nothing anyone but professionals, addiction specialists or doctors can do for her. I just want to say that out loud, to anyone who needs a wake up call, or that extra bit of encouragement to get off of that shit right now; while you still have enough self-control to even contemplate the idea.
Not judging anyone, just saying this out loud... before it ever becomes "Like That" for anyone.
Same situation for me as well....i knew right away what she was singing about.
I absolutely love the way this video was shot. The shots of Emma and the child floating in midair is very David Lynch/Julee Cruise-esque. Love the switch from black and white to vibrant colors at the end as well. Another beautiful song from Emma, I cannot wait to see what else she does with the rest of the album.
And this reminds me Lars von Trier very much. I love this.
That ending kills me .... What a soft tune out ...
Devotos de Emma Ruth Rundle. 🙋♂️
🙋🏻♀️
This is the most beautifully melancholic song I've heard in a long time...
Was it intentional the fact that in the 1st single off of Engine Of Hell, Return, the whole mv was black and white, then in the 2nd single/video, this one, Blooms Of Oblivion, the same color shade is kept but throughout the end it turns colorful and vivid, and then in the last video, The Company everthing is in color, natural and the freedom is quite showcased by the fact of Emma running during the whole video.
I've just realised how the usage of colors links those videos hence I'm curious about it
I give this a 9/9. 0s have no business being near Emma.
This album is going to be incredible.
Go listen to Apokolypsis by Chelsea Wolfe. The one who this industry plant is based on. That’s incredible.
@@LaceChaser go sniff more glue
@@LaceChaser Oh please... If ERR is an industry plant, you mustn't know much about "the industry". Also why would you oppose 2 great artists who know and like each other enough to collaborate on one of the most beautiful songs on 2021?
@@LaceChaser Dear friend "Industry Plant" is a term reserved for acts that appear "organic", but actually aren't. As in, they do not grow by themselves, their BRAND only grows (whether the overall product is actually good or bad) due to a large amount of Corporate Funds.
Billie Eilish, would be a more accurate example. Whereas, Emma, despite her renown- was Organically grown over a long period of time, with only indie label backing, at best (and A Lot of energy, and time of one's life dedicated to many World Tours!) Nonetheless, my friend, I think it'd be absolutely criminal not to give one's absolute respect to the indie artists, who put nearly every dime they own into their art, and have done so, for many, many years. Especially when they put so much of themselves into it, chasing it, and realizing it, unto the end.
That level of self-belief and devoution is so admirable to me, so easy recognizable, and respected -whether what they do is "what's in my bag", or not (I am but a simple Amoeba when it comes to finding new Music)
Speaking of witch... I've heard a lot about this Chelsea Wolfe character. She any good though? I've seen her pictures all over The Inner-net and she's very pretty, but she makes... music and stuff? Thought she was a Instergram model or somethin'. Well, heck, if she makes music... I'll have to check it out some time. Would you say she's as good as... or almost as good as, say... a Waylon Jennings? or a Hank Williams?
To be honest, I don‘t expect much from the new album, if this is one of the better songs. Will buy it anyway, but so far I‘m disappointed and bored.
The love i feel for this woman has no limits. That feeling, when you find something very precious for its made of truth.
My Emma Ruth Rundle longsleeve turned up just as I found out a new song dropped, good day to be an err fan
But god damn this is one of the most moving pieces of music I've heard in a while
A true artist....I'm in the middle of some very deep grief and have no stomach for lite...thank you Emma Ruth Rundle
Her music has the incredible power to heal my spirit. It's like a caress on the heart; tears of liberation flow like a quiet, solitary river. I feel free to liberate my emotions, not judged for being a too-much-emotional/fragile girl. The dearest friend's voice who calms you, dries your eyes and makes you fall asleep peacefully...
This put a pit deep in my stomach. Such honesty and rawness. The pain is palpable. I’m almost afraid for the full album release. 😅
Lovely melodies, delivery, and lyrics. It's been nice to see the twists and turns in ERRs music over the years.
Less can be so much more, hauntingly beautiful.
Thanks Sargent House for keeping real, played music relevant in the 20's. Looking forward to hear Emma's upcoming record as well as Brutus'
Every album Emma Ruth Rundle makes feels like a gift. This clearly will be the same. This song is fucking perfection.
this is how my heart explodes
I wanted to replay Return for the 100th time and this popped up instead. Staying off socials might make you clueless of things, but its so much better to just... find out.
Emma is wonderful, dark guitars, what a beautiful song.
Love this beautiful song.. listening as I'm waiting at the clinic..
THE METHADONE CLINIC?
@@johnlarose5399 yep. Getting take outs
@@Diazepamber LMFAO
I love the acoustic element she has in her songs it sounds raw and untouched
I love the clean and "close to microphone" voice. Beautiful.
This is a great song and performance. 11/10.
This is the epiphany of her great heart and heavy feelings without perfection. Natural and so fragile yet so powerful. 🖤
This is the kind of song writing I thought we lost 25 years ago.
I’ve listened to this song on repeat all day, it’s depressingly beautiful
such a touching and unexpectedly sumptuous video towards the end. Just love everything you do these days, Emma.
Thank u thou for introducing me to this wonderful woman and her amazing music. Shes almost as good as Dorothia Cottrell
Just Emma playing and singing a ternary rythm.. Loving yur songs. hoping and looking forward to listenng them at live in Porto
Such a banger. when it starts it reminds me if early joze gonzales. Absolutely glorious. Sheer Classssss
Her singing style is some unique middle place between Kurt Cobain and Tori Amos. I'm sold. Great orchestration too, lovely swelling volumes and tasty parts. This is great!
Yes, her uniqueness got lost. When influence becomes apparent and dominant, music becomes boring to me. No offence. Have fun.
What a sweet wonder.
This is magic! thank you for your soul!
I keep telling myself, this is an artist who needs our full support. So fantastic this work, this voice, this musicality... it's really impressive in her work, how immersive, personal and authorial it is. Thank you for giving us so much talent. Hugs
Great heartful song.
Album of my year
Reflected and beautiful as all of her pieces
Another Song with a String section, i love it 🖤 Beautiful song and video with the transition to color at the end
.
Emma is my reason to go on another day. It’s been dark lately and I see I’m not alone. cPTSD is hell.
I love this so much.. Just wanted to say thank you Emma and everyone who helped along the way. I'm going to buy this album.
Phenomenal vocals!!! Really awesome!!! Real
Please Emma put the lyrics on the album. You write such beautiful poetry and i love to listen to the CD and read the lyrics simultaneously. Just a simple request from a big fan of yours. ***
Beyond genius
A nostalgia for all lives, lived and otherwise.
sorry life, i had to drop everything to listen to this new ERR song
That is calmly and intensely heart shattering - Wow.
Between Emma and king dude, I think I have my play list
Wauh!
Another amazingly touching song from the forthcoming album.
Looking forward to hear it.
Extremely promising.
Also Emma ought to consider making a movie, this and the video for "Return" are incredible.
Simple, yet so rich and dead straight on point.
Not many words needed to be honest... 'Incredible' will do nicely
I'm legitimately looking forward to this album more than I am being out of lockdown. God, what a song. Just wrecks you.
This is a masterpiece!!
She's gorgeous ~ ♡︎ ~
Beautiful. Transformative. Healing .
She heals my heart. Thank you Emma..
so much sorrow in these songs. I love it.
Such a simple trick, but what an effect! Fuck! The boom of colour was unexpected and left me speechless! I can't take my ears from the music and my eyes off from the video. This is ART.
Emma always makes such beautiful and emotional pieces. Love this.
What fantastic song Love&beauty YES
Everybody in here talking about what other artists she reminds them of (which is ok), but All I can think of is my childhood best friend and her dad - he died of an overdose, and was a regular Judas; and to a lesser extent, my Mom and Grandfather (I never got to meet him, that I am able to remember), who died of liver cirrhosis. I wish they could've seen the world in those vivid colors without the "help" they used. If they did, maybe they wouldn't have thought they needed it...
Beautiful….just spectacular 😌🖤
Certainly a master of her kraft. This woman is on fire🔥💀🔥🖤🖤🖤
this is beautiful but very dark.. i also hope smiling ERR is still somewhere to be found
YES. Bringing back the Marked For Death sound.
You cure my soul Emma.
This is a Banquet I could feast upon forever....
I'm so excited for this album. I don't know if I'm emotionally prepared, but I can't wait to hear it. These singles have been raw beauty, and pure melancholic bliss. I love ERR's artistic vision in all its forms, but this album is truly different. I can't wait. ❤
Absolutely killing it. Even more stoked for the record!
Esta canción me rompe el corazón 🥀
thank you
This is positively stunning.
perfect as usually😁😁 a goddess on earth - Thank you Sargent house
God I want to hear this live
In absolute awe. Thank you, Emma.
Beautiful art from a beautiful artist. I can't wait for the new album.
Awesome song as always, very powerful. After a quick listen it sounds like it's about her mother or father and her trying to reconcile the idea of showing love and care to a parent ('Maker") who didn't show it to her.
thanks emma.. thanks for singing this. I needed it
Love this song all album fantastic YES
This video is gorgeous. Everyone involved deserves a very nice hug
Another piece of art,absolutely perfect🖤
