It's been a few years now and I was wondering if anything has happened on the front of importing maps. Specifically importing any kind of other map, such as an urban master plan/map with a projected tree canopy that can be compared against the current situation / canopy cover.
i-Tree Canopy has no way to store external images. Also, the image classification is completely user guided with no automation. We encourage users that would like to use their own imagery to replicate the i-Tree Canopy methods in an external GIS. For the scenario you describe you may be able to directly capture the total projected canopy then simply apply the i-Tree Canopy multipliers shown during project configuration to estimate projected ecosystem services and their associated monetary value.
Is this only available for the United States? I tried to do an i-Tree canopy analysis like this, but the only "Select Project Locations" available were in the United States.
i-Tree Canopy is available for use in any location there are Google imagery. First two steps are to define project area and cover classes. Next you will need to select a location in the USA that best fits with pollution removal rate and monetary value in your location.
