Very nice to have for probes. I accidently pushed the fwd button and ran my probe to 12,000rpm for a few secs and it did fortunately survive, but this would be nice to have.
My coworker actually did this as well just last Friday. I heard a loud bang and assumed someone lost their temper… nope hit go on accident and just flung the dial indicator against the inside of the vf-3. Ooooops
Yes. This feature is already built-in to all Haas Mills shipped this year. And if you have an older machine you can just look on the Tool Offset page to see if the MAX SPEED column is there. It was introduced onto the Offset page in Software Version 100.20.000.1200, but the feature actually existed for a while before this, but with the Max Speed input on a CURRENT COMMANDS tab.
More value to the customer once again. Some idiots would argue that professionals never make mistakes like that so why bother with a feature like this. Have you ever seen what happens to a Haimer when you accidentally run the spindle at a few thousand RPMs? I have.
Kinda cool but not gonna happen if the price is going to be a service call. As well I noticed recently on our 2017 NGC VF2 you can open/close the doors regardless of the coolant and auger running. On the 2018 VF3 right next too it with the auger running the doors will lock if you close them and the coolant will automatically turn off every time you open the doors. Even in the 'unlocked' mode on the side of the control panel. Best I could figure being a year newer machine more nanny bs was added into the software loading ? On the VF2 I would not want those nanny features added via new software update. Since the VF3 already has them it would be no downgrade. Having already crunched a Renishaw 40-2 I take extra caution whenever that sucker is loaded in the spindle.
@@Michal_Sobierajski Yes... The issue being with the coolant running, as soon as you open the door/doors it automatically turns the coolant off and you have to command it back on. Towards the end of the day when cleaning up, changing/unloading tools ect I like to have the auger and coolant running in the background to help the chip removal while doing other things. Need to open the doors, gotta reach over and cancel the auger. Open the doors to fetch the tool/wash the chips towards the auger and have to turn the coolant and auger back on every single time. Annoying A-F that Haas decided to bless the world with more stupidity for those idiots who need a warning sign on everything.
Major, Most Haas Factory Outlets are resuming certification hands-on testing. Please contact your local HFO to see if they have resumed in your area. Thanks.
@@Cas_55 It might be possible to do this yourself but you would still need a tech guy to reactivate your machine. Luckily this can be done remotely by phone.

Perfect addition to any machine. Surprised it wasn’t done before or sooner
that’s very useful! we accidentally spun our dial indicator at 5000 rmp and break the whole thing😅😅
Oof. That is always my biggest fear is hitting fwd by accident and... Bye-bye whatever 😨

I don't even want to guess how many of those nice Renishaw probes have been ripped apart just by turning on the spindle.
This is a big money saver 👍
Ever heard a fly cutter spin at 10k RPM? Felt like I was in 'Nam
Had one hit 8k about a year ago. The log on my smart watch showed my heart rate spike up to about 120 about that time. Hardly a mystery
The machines which have ordered this year will also have this feature?

when is HAAS going to start hands-on testing for the HAAS certification?

Hey, Is there a macro variable for teaching this max spindle speed straight from your program?
This is a very common feature on Siemens and Hiedenhain, surprised to see that it was present until now with hass.
actually good :)
And of course probes and indicators.
Safty first.
Got haas lathe is painful … my mazak msy
Not spinning a probe or air turbine spindle up to 12k... priceless.
How does one take advantage of an upgrade like this? Service call required?
I believe you would have to have a service technician update your mill software.
