+videostar75 My mistake, thank you for letting me know.
CALEB5617 Awesome of you.. thanks!!!!!
Cheers, this is cool.
This is the most beautifully sad and nostalgic setlist I've ever seen REM perform. 😭😍
I remember this concert, even listening to it on the radio I didn't wan't it to end! It is so good from the beginning all the way through to the end, and still Country Feedback stands out as the peak of this show, without a doubt! Goose bumps all over. Thanks for uploading this, made my day!
It was around this time that R.E.M. became my favourite band. My brother recorded this concert on VHS and we watched it so many times together with mum (who introduced us kids to this awesome band).
I still love them, after 20 years! Thanks for having uploaded this, it's very nostalgic to watch it again. :')
Did I record this concert on VHS? 😮 - To them who are reading this comment, I want to tell you that I am Wosie's brother. I am Wosie's younger brother. 😊 - To Wosie: I don't remember if I was the one who recorded this concert. I thought it was dad who recorded it. I must agree on the last thing you said, and I want you to know something. Even I still love R.E.M.! They was, and still are (even though they disbanded in 2011) an awesome band!
@@soapabuser Yo, dear bro! :D Oh, I really thought it was you who recorded this concert! If it was dad who recorded it, it was thoughtful of him as he never seemed to be very interested in R.E.M. but he knew mum, you and I were :D It was always especially cool to watch as it was recorded in Sweden!
@@Wosie Yo, dear sis! :D When I think about it, I did record this concert, because dad wasn't a big fan of R.E.M., which the rest of our family are, except our almost younger sister, but she likes some songs with them. She said it to me a couple of years ago. :D You're absolutely right at the last thing you said!
Rem grazie mille per sempre nel mio cuore
I was there, front row, camera in hand. Fantastic show.
Anders Örtegren I wish I could have seen them live. Cherish that memory forever!
Wow!!!
At My Most Beautiful, South Central Rain, Losing My Religion, Fall on Me (genius lyrics and truly heavenly voices from Michael and Mike!),and--of course--Man On The Moon. R.E.M. is THE BEST!!! Thank you so much for the great post! :)
But what if there were two(?)...side by side in Orbit...around the farest sun...;)
I love nearly every song from R.E.M...and its normal that everyone have favorites....my favorites are not often played; Nightswimming/try not to breath/the sidewinder sleeps tonite
Yup, that vocal intro in Sidewinder Sleeps is pure and touches the core! Nightwimming is elegant.
Agreed!!!
And Mike is soooo good with harmonies in Near Wild Heaven and man on the moon 🌙 🌚 🎶
Love R.E.M.
Melodic band. The early stuff remains the best, before the fame and fortune.
Completely agree.... I'm a true fan from Chronic Town to Lifes Rich Pageant. Edgy jangle pop heaven.
Michael's voice on up and Reveal is out of this world. Besides his voice the lyrics are beautiful...God I miss him. He's so humble and sweet, also damn good looking.
Damn right!
I know it's not considered as one of their best albums, but after all these years i must admit it : UP is my favorite R.E.M. album.
Mediocre at best.
Nice to see some of the Up b-sides performed here, it's one of my favorites as well.
Up is my Favourite R.E.M. Album, loved it straight away and I had been into them for years before, love Reckoning too.
Up fluctuates within my top4 to 6 r..E.m albums. There are just so many terrific selections to choose from.
@@lewisc215 Might I suggest you have no ear to speak of... to speak of it, I would do anything. I feel like a cartoon brick wall. Why not smile?
at my most beautiful is perhaps the best love song ever! R.E.M..............great band............deeply missed!
Petra L. Hh
SIMPLY THE GREATEST ERA OF REM🎶💓
I was there!!!! We even got to meet them:)
Anna Hultgren even miichael?
R.E.M.'s legacy lives on. Most of today's "new rock" is heavily influenced by them. I suppose that's a good thing, but wish there was more originality
All bands have influences. The key is to have so many and such broad influences that - when you mix it all up - it sounds like something new and not so much like anyone else. Which is pretty much what made R.E.M. such an interesting band... Their influences are all over the place. Classic Rock, Country, Krautrock, British Indie, American Punk, etc, etc, etc
I agree on their impact. I’ve always felt REM was the most influential 80’s band on the next generation of groups in the 90’s onward. No one sounded Like REM.
REM's whole mission in life was not to sound like anyone else and earlier versions of themselves
They performed perfectly on Lotus!
Great setlist! Best band ever!
Got to love the- no "stupid phones" blocking your view
Good memories! I was there 🎶🎶
Jag med!
Lucky you
Mike est formidable comme d'habitude et a su s'entourer de musiciens hors norme tellement extraordinaires👍👍👍🥰🥰
Wonderful music, and music with meaningful messages to boot!
Aún después de separados, sigo descubriendo piezas magistrales de mi grupo favorito. Legendarios R.E.M.
Nunca se separaron, tan solo que ya no hacen música juntos
Wish they had done "Cuyahoga". Lifes Rich Pageant is on my desert island disc list.
What a beatiful setlist
this concert is amazing, damn, wish i'd been there, michael was well on form!!!!! loved it, thanks for posting, fabulous x
Love the back to back "apology songs"
One of my favorite bands
I think I had it recorded on VHS in the late 90's (or maybe I had an mp3 version - cause it widely circulated in REM www). I was disappointed back then that they didn't make a proper tour, only those "boutique" invite-only shows and that they omitted Poland. Now I came back to Stockholm performance and it's such a great concert. The other one was Hamburg and Vienna show from this mini-tour, which also were widely circulated - I consider them a triplet twins shows. Same vibe, energy, sound and Michael is really on fire here. It's great to look at it knowing much more about the band than I knew 25 years ago and noticing small things like his sparse choreography in "The Apologist" (fitting the theme of the song). Maybe they are not Bob Dylan, but being fan of R.E.M. for over 25 years is also all about discovering new and new depths in what they did.
I was there, at the end of the concert me and a friend sneaked upstairs to their reception room to see if there where any food and drinks, it was. 😊 While checking that out Mr Stype came in and I ended up sitting on a chair with Mr Stype standing beside me greeting fans. I handed him a bottle of water and acting as his bodyguard talking to his fans, the funny thing was we didn’t even have tickets, we asked the guy at the entrance if we could come in and he said, welcome. I guess he thought we where among the 200 invited. Being smartly dressed in a dark suit might have helped.
You still live in Stockholm? I'm in St. Louis.
@@ikesweat8749 St Louis used to be my home in the USA once for 3 month. Potosi MO to be exact but spend quite some time in St Louis too.
Mi grupo favorito...por siempre...
Não me canso de ver e ouvir!!!! I love R.E.M FOREVER ♡♡♡♡!!!
bueno todo el grupo .
Michael cómo siempre mágico con su Voz.
R.E.M
Such a great setlist!
+alwaysandeverful I wouldn't say so.But hey,that's me
great perfomance, great band, and great and underrrated album UP
très belle chanson et musique un vrai bonheur de les écouter !!!
In my opinion nothing can compare to the song Fall On Me which is my favorite REM song and also Michael Stipe's as well, damn and I'm from Rochester N.Y and that was cool Michael brought it up
Thank you VERY much for uploading this video.
Music like R.E.M makes me wish to have born in 70s, so i could be an extremely lucky teenage.
One of the 20th /21st centurys iconic bands,, sadly now broken, but how we loved Stipes voice,, and of course,Buck, Berry, Mills's playing
Tomando uma e ouvindo R.E.M; uma das melhores bandas da minha adolescência 👏👏👏👏
Stipe "playing" an guitar thats a rarity, never saw him play on any tour after and honour Bill Berry with Perfect Circle nice concert
Need them more than ever !
YEAH,THX TO UA-cam, WE CAN
I wish i could have then.love his voice
PARABÉNS VC É O MÁXIMO, AMO TODAS SUAS MÚSICAS OBRIGADO , BOA SORTE 🙏 🌿 🌺 🌿 💋 🌿
I remember watching this on tv, it was a live broadcast and from what I can recall it was supposed to last for 50-55 minutes. Obviously it didn’t and how cool is it that the broadcast continued until the end!?
Amo i REM ❤️😍😘
the band looked happy and so did the audience. great!
in 1998 even in japan we couldn't see them so close.
Really good show enjoyed tremendously
Hay pmurf242...you are a genius!! thanx so much!
*(* contrasted with '81 *&* '82 available on YT smallish gigs of undeniable energy a n d pure lyrical mania syllables(compliment) *)* .d e c a d e s. such an engrossing ensemble(!) 'Let Me In' ~ still brings the tears forth *:*
I love the Lotus! Thanks dude!
Their best work was 1981-87 easily....still good /great songs here and there but never the greatness of the early work before fame took them from us early fans. I saw them 67 times between 1982 and 1988. Their best tour by far 1985's Fables of the Reconstruction which you can see on Rockpalast.
But what if there were two(?)...side by side in orbit...around the farest sun? ;)
"Automatic for the people" belongs to the best Albums ever...every song a masterpiece....dont get me wrong; i love nearly every song from R.E.M
wow, that's a devotion! 10 times a year. where did you live at that time? did you have to travel long distances to see them?
Awesome! Joey Waronker is the drummer for Walt Mink! If you don't know Walt Mink, look them up. You're welcome.
I listened to this concert on the radio at the time.
I saw this on channel two in sweden when it was sent. I was 17 years old. I recorded it and it's in parents house somewere.
I was there and it was soooo good.
Me too
Hey Michael mentioned my hometown, Rochester, NY!
The one-two combo of Perfect Circle/Country Feedback here is astounding.
thank you, great!!
This is a time machine
Great stuff!Woooow.....👍👍👍☺☺☺☺
Aaaah....Daysleeper just sounds sooo good.
They were such a great live band also.
wow, Michael looks really high
Got to agree with you there!
What do you base your statement on?
I thought so too. Really agitated
My favorite song!
The info for remtimeline is

❤❤❤
R.E.M. ♥
beautiful
I love the sound, like Unplugged with Rickenbackers.
btw to the poster look up old shows they Always end up like this, its R.E.M. in there pure form.
Nice ending tribute song to Iggy Pop. Always loved the "Passenger".
Adoro Lotus
❤
Elképesztő jó zenészek!
Micheal is a interplanetary element that confirme the Einstein's theory of "global attraction"....
They played a lot of stuff off of Reveal in this concert, but they seemed to have the most fun playing old stuff, like Radio Free Europe.
The band's original drummer had more of a feel for the band.
No doubt that with Bill Berry's departure, the band's sound was diminished. They've even said in interviews that they felt lie a "Three legged dog" going on without him.
Meu sonho❤🙌👏👏👏👏
excellent show and I appreciate you posting it, but it has a ridiculous number of ads.
a melhor banda dos anos 90.
this crowd knows how to listen to REM!
Yes, That guy IS GREAT! and and ANYONE can do it, please start playing an instrument; get with it and play along!
Michael Stipe frontman of REM
Peter Buck has always been a lot of things (including a guitar player with a very distinctive sound) but I don't ever think he ever considered himself 34:05 a guitar god. Nor would anyone else. Enjoyable show with some very good nods looking in the rear view. Even with the koala bear spiel. "I don't know my own strength." That's good stuff.
I remember hearing Perfect Circle the night this aired on MTV? and was very moved by it. Sounds just as good today. Joey Waronker being very faithful to Bill's template.
That cover of passenger is smokin'
I noticed the girl sneaking under the barricade and stealing Michael’s lyric sheet after “New Test Leper”. He must have noticed because he puts the lyrics away after “Electrolite” behind him. Keeping an eye on this Trollop.
Koala bear chat? WTF?!
The last 4 songs were completely unexpected. Turns into a madhouse at the very end, very chaotic!
lotus is awesome

Love old REM. After Monster not sure what happens.
Never liked them when I was younger. How things change
Why does everything seem so slow and off and not vintage REM? The answer is Bill.
babbling. love it!
Que maravilha
yum.
Sang tagal mag produce ng songs. Nakaka-asar. Maganda Panamanian sana ng REM. concert!!!"
I think the word you are looking for is 'charisma' Mr idontwannachannel
такое складывается впечатление что в 98 году нормальной видиозаписи не было
The quality of their songs took a nose dive after AFTP
Losing my religion= "volverse loco" la expresion significa
que se te caigan todos los caramelos,,lo dijo Michael Stipe jaja
