Great conversation. Loved it. Couldn’t agree more with the points that were made about the focus of clubs AND parents ripping the joy and love of playing the game from them. I’ve thought about that a lot since my son just finished his d3 soccer career this last fall. I think I can count on fewer than 4 fingers and a thumb the number of boys he played club soccer with who are still playing. Can’t help but think that the pressures from clubs and parents growing up didn’t impact that to some extent. Many quit playing during high school.
Thank you for highlighting Wisconsin soccer. It’s better than most think and is often overlooked.
