I like your thoughts on saving the world, essentially through intelligent knowledge rather than emotional “knowledge “ that seems to surface more on social media. I have been a simmer for 40 years, though my use and interest in went way up with MSFS 2020 and being retired. Planning flights, using varying aircraft, learning about destination areas is good for the brain as well as sanity. I fly mostly GA flights, where I can explore more. Sometimes, I’ll see something on History channel or Discovery channel and say, I need to fly there and check it out. I appreciate what you do and your efforts to make the world better, not divided. Thanks, Nick.
Great video Nick! I've also made a lot of connections through aviation and simming with all sorts of people from all over the world! I've used it to supplement training, practice when I can't fly in the real world, and of course to keep my mind busy! Keep at it! - Jeremy
Great thoughts on your whole saving the world stuff. I'm 54, so i was a teenager most of the 80s. I first started with flight sim for win 95. Like many others, i stopped a while after fsx. Then broke the bank to build a new PC when i saw the first footage of msfs 2020. Today, flight sim is a huge part of my life. It somehow fills in my current voids of the kayaking and sailing moments of my life, at least virtually. The sunsets, ocean, beaches, exotic places...etc. Lots of sightseeing type flights. I mostly fly around Caribbean island destinations. Lately i been flying around the South Pacific. I fly many seaplanes and flying boats. My channel indirectly tells a big story of my life. From flying rc planes, to kayaking and actually sailing (i owned 3 sailboats, last one a Hunter 33 i sold just last year) to flight simming. I also took flying lessons back in 2000, had an uncle that owned a flying school and a few planes. Sadly, i never finished flight training, job i had at the time was a distraction. I really need to share some of this in a video one day, although i do mention some things in a few of them.
Good stuff man! I was doing my best to articulate how cool and helpful simulations can be for the myriad of reasons you just described in this video. Nice work again and it's a pleasure learning that there are other like minded people out there in our little galaxy. Cheers and I look forward to our next group flight. Even if we just save ourselves, eventually it might save the world........ Talk soon, Tron.
Well, yes, I recognized this location pretty fast - and I thought this was a competition I could win. But I heard you. Haha! 😂 And yes, it looked marvelous with the addons and enhancement. I also totally agree with what you want to convey. I think MSFS could be a great educational tool as well. Learning about different places, cultures and geology, amongst other things. You have started a great mission, and I love what you do here. So thanks for that, Nick! I'm grateful that I found your channel a good while back. 😊
It is soooo worth the flight, but just wouldn't fit within within the box of our usual style due to the lack of other things to talk about. If you want your sauna cap, just tell me where to send it!
@@MSFSFlightPlans Totally understand. Not that much going on out there, I think. 😄 By the way, you're right about the C-130 Hercules. It's what the Norwegian Air Force is using for transport to the island. You don't need to send me anything, but thanks anyway! 😃
@@MSFSFlightPlans Yes, as far as I know it is a radar (at least was) and a meteorological station there. This Wikipedia article has more detailed answers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Mayenen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Mayen
Thanks for your videos. I am retired and have health issues which stop me from full size flying. However with the advent of MSFS I can indulge my passion for flight with a great sense of immersion and can fly anywhere I choose, despite the political or social state of the area! Can’t wait for 2024’s release…
I have been advocating the benefits of flight simming since I started with it in 1993, but you have put it out there far better than I have. I have never convinced anyone, though, except for one old lady who loved to fly in the sim (83 hours and 54 hours in her log book she was thrilled to be able to fly over her house in Scotland and see the property her family husband's owned which was turned into Turner Field, now Edinburgh International Airport.
You'd be amazed at most of the responses I get when I say, "Have you ever heard of flight simulation?" The typical reaction is something like, "Are you talking about the video game?" My next question is, "Do you like to travel or watch the History Channel?" If they say yes, I've got my toe in the door ... if they say no, I change the subject.
Great Video m,y friend and I could not agree with you more. I used the sim to teach my nephews some great locations in the world and trying to open their minds to this bigger and amazing world we live on. By the way I agree with you, this hobby it is expensive, but there is also a much cheaper option that can be as good as msfs in the educational area, actually I even have used that sim to replicate several of your flights, it can run with way less system requirements, actually it can run in the browser of many low end PCs and laptops without any problems, it has a completely free version. I'm talking about Geo-FS, a very underrated sim that can be a great educational tool in a very similar way you have been using MSFS.
It took me about ten seconds to find out where you are - it's in the video if you know where to look!🙂 But I feel my method is a bit cheaty so I'll leave the competition to others - nor is there any way I could be persuaded to do otherwise.
I honestly think I've learned how to run my business much more efficiently from all those years of gaming skills. I know a lot of people whose businesses fail because they had no practical sense of resource management. And I know some of those people never played video games.
As a disabled person it feels like I can go anywhere I want

That is awesome!
dude, you are THE BEST. keep the vids coming - i'll be watching them all!
I'll keep going as long as you'll keep being my hype-man. Very much appreciated!

I love your self-awareness and humility Nick! Best video yet!
I ❤️ Gulf.
Thanks for a touch of sanity in a world so full of hate and hanger. Rock on Nick!

Do you know what kind of operations they're running out there? I figured radar or communications relay.

Well done my friend...I have spent the last wek flying PNG area..very extreme flying in real weather, check it out for one of your vids!!

I couldn't figure out how to use the blur feature in my editing software. 😔
Cheapest way in is a Firestick, Xcloud gaming and a Bluuetooth controller (plus good internet)
I agree 1000% 😊
Fine sentiments, and if you were English I'd probably listen to you :)
Loving your vids and your attitude mate 👍
So what’s the airport?

Video games are better than tv…in video games at least your being interactive…especially flight simming.
I honestly think I've learned how to run my business much more efficiently from all those years of gaming skills. I know a lot of people whose businesses fail because they had no practical sense of resource management. And I know some of those people never played video games.
Great stuff…but watch out, such open mindedness could get you banned! 👍🙏
Very true! Maybe I'll become the world's first sim-martyr.
