Miata should comes in all M&M colours.
plot twist they only add brown next year
I like the new gray color, but Mazda really needs to offer the Miata in dark green with dark brown interior/top. That's a classic roadster look that I don't think they've ever offered on any Miata. Also, they definitely should not put a turbo in the Miata. The naturally aspirated, RWD, light weight, manual setup are all key ingredients that make the Miata the ultimate purist sports car that it is. I wouldn't change anything in the powertrain. Overall, I love the ND3 upgrades and will definitely be purchasing a GT RF in its final model year.
they did offer special edition miatas in brg w/ tan leather interiors and soft tops in 91 & 92. they also had another one in marina green in 97
a new miata in brg would be very nice tho i agree
@@philtheoccultist Well they need to bring it back instead of all the boring colors they're offering now. Aside from soul red and maybe machine gray (because they have such amazing depth), none of the other current colors does anything for me.
dlg : Amen.
dark green would be great, I agree.
Thank you for this. WRT the "what's missing" section of your latest video production, I must say that the absence of a lane-centring function does not strike me as a big deal. I've never thought of my NC-1 as a highway cruiser and, more often than not, when I'm driving it the way it should be driven, the last thing I want is an electronic nag prodding me back into line.
I always have the ‘lane departure warning’ turned off on my ND1. It became very annoying within the first week; super sensitive and seemingly random at times.
I have an NC1, so I’d love to see a video about the subgenerations of the NC Miata.
I’ve just ordered my nd3 can’t wait. 3 - 6 months for Sydney Australia. Currently own nc now for about 7 years. Best car ever owned
Finally ND3 thank you folks! ❤
I'd love the miata in British racing green
Great first episode to flywheel films podcast 😁
I'de love to see a green on the ND.
Never clicked so fast lol 😂. My nc3 was totaled 2 weeks ago… Bought an nd2 because I didn’t want to wait for nd3.
Just a suggestion, but I think you should linger on the photos longer. You guys mention something, then show the photo. I end up studying the photo to see if I can make out the change but then you guys cut away too soon.
I just bought a '23 RF Club this past month haha, of course thats my timing! That said, as cool as some of these upgrades are, definitely not enough to make me feel like I should have waited, its an amazing car as it is! I'm sure there will be a way to get the new lights and infotainment running in a ND2, same with the LSD if its really an upgrade worth changing.
Screamingstrings : doing all those mods will cost you more money and Time than selling your nd2 for getting the nd3. You simply got bad luck with your timing. Separate parts will be very expensive and the labour bill too.
sure but that would require me to care enough to do it, just saying someone will figure out a way@@lensoprezole5322
Price increase I hear is 3k
I love the Miata but one thing is like scratching on a chalkboard. I wish Mazda would delete the cheap looking and feeling infotainment screen. In its place, simply use an adjustable mount or in-dash cubby with usb-c connector for smart phones. Keep the interior clean.
I love the content, I hired a Miata for ten days in July to see if I would fit inside, would it hurt my back etc, just to get a feel for it, when I went to pick it up it was an RF automatic waiting for me. I thought oh no, I’d seen reviews and had made the assumptions that the soft top and manual stick drive is the driving experience. How wrong I was, this little capsule fitted me to perfection, it called out my name morning, noon and night “ Drive me!” The sport button blew my mind being so low down to the ground. Needless to say I hired a soft top in Gran Canaria to see how it handled and it disappointed compared to the RF, the soft top couldn’t hold the road as well and it lacked the wow factor that the RF has, that’s just my opinion.
I agree with everyone Mazda should have gone crazy with colors for this last year. But soul crystal red will always be the best color.Zoom Zoom.
Oooo, now I’m even happier I bought the last new 2022 GSP w/ Sport (or Club with BBR) in Polymetal Grey in Canada.
I disagree with you carlos. ND3 is way cooler !
@@lensoprezole5322 cool. But Polymetal is my favourite colour - even bought a Polymetal ‘23 CX5 6-months later. So unless you can get this new one in that colour, mine is still better.
Color needed, GRAY is the color of primer, so those cars look like their ready for paint. Yes, we need a yellow and a bright blue!
90-93 had an optional VLSD and the TorSen LSD was introduced in 94
I ordered 2024 Miata Club in Soul zRed Crystal. Just wish they came with more brighter colors and tan interiors.
I may of missed it in this video but apparently the MX-5 is getting I-Stop as well, it will turn off the engine when coming to a full stop (and out of gear, clutch peddle up). Apparently this has been on the Euro MX-5 for a while but not on the North American models. Good for fuel savings if you are in the city.
Dark green 👍
The new ND3 dashboard has a less 3 dimensional dail on the rev counter, except for that it's pretty much the same.
That orange is the best color on the ND my dude. 😂 Liked it so much I paonted my 98 5 speed Sentra a similar orange since I am too poor to afford it.
More vivid colors would be so cool.
Can you imagine a ND california yellow?
Yeah but how much people would really order their car in yellow ? Not much in my opinion. That's why there is so much greys, black, white.
@@lensoprezole5322yeah, that’s true I guess people are too afraid to standout these days.
Love the Soul Red. Would love British Racing Green with brown leather !!!!!
Unfortunately the tan roof and interior is not available for the RF manual in Australia.
i hate the control knob for the infotainment center so i went with the nc instead
everyone at my job calls the tail light style called "bloom" tail lights. I feel like I do like the ND3 bodystyle a lot more. I feel like they are trying to have a more sleek design that way people will get used to it. and introducing a modern "hybrid sports miata" wouldnt be as bad.
I have a 2022 MX5 in Soul Red, best colour in my opinion. The car handles extremely well in its stock form particularly in the twisty roads. The cosmetic changes announced for 2024 in my opinion do not amount to an ND3, just a refreshed ND2. Love your channel and content.
Its more then cosmetics, theres a new LSD, track mode for traction control, new screen, rearview mirror, headlight, taillight, fog lights replaced with brake cooling, the 2.0L got a tune to be more responsive, the 1.5L gained 4hp and is more effecient, the steering is retuned to provide more road feel, the 2 tone interior looks alot better it now covers the center area also the center area is not plastic anymore its leather wrapped, new roof colors and paint, adaptive cruise and other safety feutures. Its a ND3, the NC3 didnt have many changes either and is considered NC3
@@Sideways_Singhi agree with you. The other guy just tries to consolate himself, so he feels less disappointed.
as an nd2 owner, I am disappointed in their changes. I have 10 major complaints of the car, none of which have to do with performance. Out of my 10 biggest complaints, Mazda is only addressing 1 with their changes. Mazda is not listening to consumers as my complaints are common.
It doesn't need a new LSD, it's a 181 hp car and the current one is good.
Track mode is only track mode if it has adjustable dampers.
New screen is an improvement but still has big borders around it.
Rearview/headlight/tailights, who cares? The current are fine.
Current car doesn't offer fog lights, unsure what you mean. It should, though.
Safety features? Are roadster purists really interested in boomer tech that beeps at you non stop? I don't want any of it.
@@Sideways_Singh
@@Michael-li3id - My wish is they would make it a bit larger. It’s great but still too cramped and lacking storage space. I like the driving performance and nimble feel but would love the bottle holders back in door, glove box as before keeping cubby between seats. Also liked the small space below drivers side dash for wallet or eyeglasses. Make it bigger for comfort and convenience.
@@rembo183mazda tries to keep the mx-5 as lightweight as possible and the easiest way to achieve that is to make a small car because less material means less weight.
The steering changes and lsd, also a nicer screen. Yummy. No lane centering in a Miata seems like a nothing burger to me
Yes to the nc sub gen video, please.
I will have the only model year of the ND-2 with Zircon Sand Metallic. The changes for the ND-3 are minor, and I will continue to enjoy my new 2023 GT RF.
The placement of the cruise control radar to one side of the grille kinda srews up the look of the front of the car. It's an asymmetrical look that makes the cc radar look like an afterthought. Mazda could have done a better job on it.
Enrico : i disagree because if they had placed the radar in the center of the grille, it wouldn't look better. It could be even worse. Being placed on the side makes it more discreet i think.
But why does a car like this even need ACC?
That’s all great but need to be careful. I’ve ordered my ND3 2024. Paid my deposit and ordered what I’ve seen on the internet however Mazda Australia doesn’t know fully yet so I don’t yet have the specifications confirmed. Different countries around the world negotiate different specs with Mazda Japan. We’ll just have to wait for confirmation as to what we get.
Deffo do a NC changes video as I’m in the market for one and it’d be great to have those in the know share the differences :) love the content!
Miatas have always had LSDs; a plate style through '93, the Torsen came with the 1.8. Mazda has never made it easy to get them in many cases; we have a 2019 GTS. The only reason we got it was to get the LSD on a Touring spec car.
Dont care for adaptive cruise with the radar in the grill, can’t put the carbon Miata Spyder halo grill… prefer the fang running lights, having blanks looks bad, light fang with the daylight running lights in headlight. Can we get new colors not another shade of gray to the 50 shades we have, like bright colors, gold, silver, yellow, neon green, purple, maroon, Lexus atom silver with red interior like Fsport color, 10 AE blue… a/c vented seats, heated steering wheel. No need for a turbo, current has plenty pep, or pickup.
I'm curious how rear cross-traffic stop would work on the manual transmission
Maybe it just slows you down till idle but doesn't make a full stop to avoid stalling. It just reduces the impact.
I would love an orange
Waiting for the NE, since I got a ND2, just not enough to trade, but what do you think?
Hello, the Gen NE will be at least a mild hybrid that means the car will be a bit heavier and a bit more powerful, so the driving experience will be different. A hybrid vehicle type of experience from the engine point of view. So it is up to you to decide if you prefer a gasoline powered only experience of driving or a hybrid one. Personnally, i would rather buy a ND3 because i prefer having a sports car with only a gasoline engine. Gen NE will have a more modern interior but the ND3 interior is good enough for me.
Thanks much for the reply. I hear the NE will a "tad" more interior room, I'm 6'3"...lol@@lensoprezole5322
Owner of a NC2 PRHT here, love it and it's my daily driver. Whats missing in the new ND? I do not like the ND targa, I want a full convertible car but live in Canada and have no garage and must leave my car for days in an open public place in the summer so a soft top is just not practical. If any ND had a full PRHT I would already own one. If the 2024 had a fully convertible PRHT I would be first in line. Am I alone here? or is this a big Mazda mistake?
I totally agree. Having had a stroke and lost my ability to shift gears, I need an a/t but the lack of available a/t AND an open convertible in the ND means I am keeping my aging NC.
Gergmac : can't you rent a garage for 50 bucks a month near your flat ?
@@paulchappell You can absolutely get a soft top 6AT. They might not be making many but they're out there, ask me how I know.
I’m glad I don’t have lane centring, or I-stop on my 2023 Miata. My 2019 3 had these and they were annoying. And I can take or leave radar cruise control.
they said a turbo of the miata would require dev of a new transmission variant to handle the power. zoom zoom may be dead forever in favor of a refined mature product lineup. i had a 20’ MX-5 ND2 :0)
Turbo engine sucks. They sound like vaccum cleaners. They are less reliable. Naturally aspirated engines sound awesome with a sport exhaust.
Sure hope they never ruin the Miata with electric. Turbo would be an excellent idea.
I don't want a turbo miata. Turbo engine sounds like vaccum cleaners. NA is perfect. An ultra compact NA V6 would be perfect for a beautiful engine note. But that will never happen.
Great video, thanks. As an owner I can say that two little interior updates would really improve livability in this car: door/console knee-padding, and a digital speed readout. From the interior shot it looks like there's soft material on the console tunnel now - hope that makes it into the US production car. But I don't see any change in the instrument screen. Too bad because you can hardly read the tiny analogue speed dial as it is now without staring at it to focus. They could just devote the whole right gauge to something else by putting a simple digital speed readout in the tach screen like the BRZ/86 has.
OBD2 head display. Installs in seconds. the cheapest is perfect. It only indicates the speed. I have one installed on my 2021 RF and it is perfect.
Seeing as how I just bought a '22 RF with 8900 miles, I listened to see if maybe I should have waited for the ND3. Nope, UNLESS Mazda decides on a turbo 4I with 300hp. I also own a turbo 96 making 300+ RWHP. That engine in the ND would be the ticket, or more correctly that HP. I still drive the 96 almost everytime I go blasting in the twisties. The pull out of corners is very very addictive. But with no AC, racing seats with 4 pt harness, loud and stiff, it ain't the Miata for driving far and away! I feel very lucky to own both. I was raised in the golden age of the small British sports car..My #1 reason for owning a Miata is how it handles, period. Then rest is gravy ..
I don't care for the ND styling. Looking forward to the NE. I hope it has more power and they bring back the PRHT,a real convertible.
The NE will be hybrid or electric for sure. That means a heavier car. And that means less fun in the corners. For a more powerful car you should buy a mustang or camaro.
I don't like the way they located the new cruise control radar head on the driver's side of the grille. The result is a non-symetrical grille.
I'll keep my 2016 ND sport that I got used. That radar blob on the grill looks terrible. Ruined the front grill completely. Kudos on the tail lights though, pretty cool looking. Don't suppose they'll fit on a 2016 though. This was a great video . Really enjoyed it so I'm all in on more like it.
Jeff : the radar sensor is well integrated in my opinion. That thing never looked great on any car anyway.
As an ND2 owner, I'm so happy that mine does NOT have adaptive cruise and lane centering. I've driven cars with both features and they're annoying as hell. I loathe the day when everything becomes self driving because driving will be dead then.
On my ND3 i will disable those driving aids. I will never use them. And i will enjoy the improved steering and asymetric differential and the more modern dashboard 🙂 And the overall improved reliability that manufacturers never talk about when they refresh a car.
2019 here rather would wait for the NE hydbrid electric. Need more horses!
Depends on what people are looking for. Straight line performance or fast fun in the bends.
Information just tricking through. It looks like Australia doesn’t get the tan soft top.
For the limited slip, I wander if they're not putting it in automatic cars because the tranny won't hold up. IMO the new grill looks like they just tacked on a radar like an afterthought. The new Infotainment system is much needed. I hope someone finds a way to update the older ND's with it.
The radar pod on the grill looks like a wart…
The manual is the one grenading lol have you read a single 6AT failure on the ND?
It is weird that Mazda insists on giving the MX-5 really boring neutral colors for new colors. Just different shades of grey and beige in the last few years....
Mazdaspeed :
Hip hip hip Hourra !!!
Please come back.
And here im still saving money to buy a reconditioned ND2 .
Ahmad : feeling sorry for you ! Can't you find a better paid job to afford a brand new ND3 ? Do it mate !
and here I am saving money to get an NA or NB 😅
@@lensoprezole5322I can't even afford an NB 😂
nice production but would have liked segues to the car itself and less talk. But, I liked both of you and thought you also would be good candidates for work with Space X. Jim
Miata is best served with the NA 4 cylinder. Turbo will mess with the nuance
fangs behavior is easily "fixed" with mx5things help
Mazda doesn't do lane centering, even CX-9 and last CX-9 had only lane nudging. It will nudge the steering towards inside lane, but driver has to do it.
Probably lawsuit reasons.
No hybrid, no mild hybrid, no electric. Only automatic transmission and turbo would be an option.
Is it possible to see more of the photos and talk while showing the pic for a second and less just talking about it. With all due respect…
Agreed.
I hope it does 0-60 5 sec
Gen NE miata will but ND3 won't.
@@lensoprezole5322 Ne probably no longer be light weight it being hybrid
@@Jayjewelerofficialcorrect. That's why i am going to buy the ND3.
Coilovers slam it.. what are we in highschool again… 🙄 how about usable suspension travel and not ruining Miata’s there’s enough ruined ones out there. Green needs to be a factory color! A good brg with tan would be amazing.
For those of us that live in a state that requires a front plate. The location of the adaptive cruise wouldn't allow for a off-center plate. Ugh...
Who cares. Center is the best.
Who wants radar cruise control? That’s not really warranted for most I’m sure. Who even drives sports car in cruise control. Rather u cut costs Mazda
Anyone worried about cruise control shouldn't be driving a Miata
You’re talking about lane centering with a Miata? Pretty sure you are missing the point of this car.
I'd love to see a fully electric miata, but of course, the big enemy here would be that battery pack. Hybrid could offset that a bit, but is still probably going to be heavier than any miata "should" be. Though I suppose if the NE miata ends up carrying a heavy battery, at least it would mean the NC is no longer the "fat" one 🤣
Nd3 according to who? Its the same car since 2019 with new colors lol.
The ND3 will be a 2024 model.Your color wishes will be fulfilled by SE Issues for 2025 and 2026.The hybrid will be a 2027 model based on Mazda's product life cycles and how far behind they are on EVs

and who cares about the electronics on a Miata? Safety nanny devices? If you can't drive get a Camry or a Subaru. Agree that they need to bring back Mazdaspeed, and a hot engine would be nice, eve
ND3 is your LAST CHANCE to own a brand new, gas only powered MX-5 with your own name on the original invoice ! Because let's face it, a used car with scratches everywhere, just sucks.
And that’s why I decided to fully PPF both my MX5 and CX5. You’re welcome future buyers.
Yes exactly, I planned to fully PPF my ND3 too ! And park it in my closed garage when i am not driving it ! The sun rays and the rain ruins the exterior of any car quite quickly. A garage is a must have for a true enthusiast that really loves his car.
@@lensoprezole5322 great call. I was fortunate enough to do both cars right after I took delivery, so there was minimal road time without PPF.
LAME centering! I can drive and don't need or want that feature.
I hate to say it but I’m just not a fan of the Miata past 2015. The front end looks okay but I just don’t like the taillights at all. I was t even a fan of any Miata’s whatsoever until I ran across my ‘13 Club. I always have been into classic American muscle until my impulse purchase of my NC. Now I just love them!!
@@Alex-zy7ot To each their own. I think my white club looks way better than any ND. Especially from the back.
I prefer the rear end of the ND but older 'happier' front ends.
