great tips, but ONE MORE,you do have to set the sync switch to 'X', NOT 'M' as the M was designed for chemical trays (1900's) or the chem. bulbs ( aka the "magi-cubes" used on 110 cartridge cameras{1980's}), but they both share the same characteristic, that they hit full WB ONLY after 20-30ms from triggering; so this delay is added to the flash circuit, Electronic flash uses Xenon bulbs (flourecent technology) which "ignites" to full WB instantly, no matter what type (strobe, speedlight), so need to keep the type of flash you use in mind!

The style of you and this video, which are amazing, do not fit in with the usual suspects in the large format community 😂 I wish LF photography was more mainstream and not mostly nerd (myself included) occupied.

Hey, thanks for the video, really helpfull! Just one last question, when you said at the end that you had to use your flash to full power, what were all your settings (iso, aperture, speed, and power of your flash)? Cheers again! :)

Hey guys, I didn’t shoot anything for this video. There’s many factors to shooting and getting a look that you like with the 4x5. Factors such as how far the bellows are extended, tilt/ shift, what lens your using, etc. Usually my F stops are closer to F11 or F16 to ensure sharpness. But it will take away from some of the depth of field in the background. Also, I shoot all of my film at half of box speed. I stated I start at full power because that’s my process to achieve the desired Aperture on my light meter. All in all, I would encourage you to do a few test of your own to see what you like.

Im confused when you say it'll need a lot of light? if i take a meter reading say at 1/2 power and im getting an exposure reading of f/8, would that not be what i set on the camera?
