As a UK based pilot I can’t help but notice the mistake of setting STD baro when cleared to ALTITUDE 6000ft. I appreciate it’s a difference to the US but this is something that should be briefed throughly beforehand when operating abroad. The controller saved you from a level bust with the climb up to FL70 before the level off. The transition altitude was 6000ft, but this is still an altitude flown on local QNH, with anything above that to be flown on STD pressure as a flight level. Enjoyable video nonetheless… we are always learning!
You are totally right. However local QNH at that moment was 1014. The altitude difference of being 1 hPa off is 28 ft/8.5 mtrs. That’s about the height of the plane. Yeah they were too early with STD QNH but not too much of an issue in this situation.
@sqvisionnl QNH is 1017. The controller at 00:57 says information R QNH 1017. The pilot failed to read this back (the pressure setting is a mandatory read back in UK) so never updated the incorrect 1014 he had copied.
@@sqvisionnl So on that day they were lucky. Very lucky. Different QNH on another day where a couple more holes of James Reasons Swiss cheese model line up and it’s a very different outcome…
Excellent comment. We had an absolute mountain of knowledge to learn before starting this trip. Some things were bound to slip through. Thank you for the information!
Im really impressed by your professionalism. Your ATC communication holds up really well in Europe. Crisp clear and nice correct phraseology. Very nice video!!!
Thank you. When flying in Europe many controllers do not speak English as their first language. So speaking slow, clear and with proper phraseology is imperative. Thanks for watching and your kind words.
@Baronpilot, I've been with you since you were flying the Beechcraft Baron. Now you're flying a Challenger jet. What's next, commercial airlines? You go, man always loved and do love the content keep it up!.

Great video - the terrain looks like I'm used to (I fly from Redhill, about 20 minute East of Farnborough) but the sky can't be right - there were blue bits with a yellow ball clearly visible, and that never happens in the UK.
Great flight as always Kris. I fly into KORK in North Little Rock alot and fly around the c-130's where Bryan was stationed at Jacksonville, AR. Always cool to be flying with such awesome aircraft off your wing.

Back in the 80s I worked private contract work with the US Navy on a research vessel. We towed a two mile sonar array were we hunting subs at that time. Our ports were Spain, Sicily and Italy. Our schedules on the vessel were 90 days on 30 days off and we got paid on our month off also. It was fun visiting those countries but now in today’s world you really have to watch your back and be aware of your surroundings. Just not worth going to Europe anymore with the danger involved. Safe travels!
Nice CRM. This one caught my attention with the word "Farnborough". I was born in Farnborough, went to college in Farnborough, did my apprenticeship at that Farnborough airfield back in the 80s, I did my PPL at Farnborough. It's changed a lot since I left in 2000, used to have 6 runways. You'll have to get someone english to teach you how to say Farnborough correctly 😉

Hello Kris, this is the first time in a long time watching a video. My life as a professional senior engineer has taken all my time. I am a long time patreon guy. Is that a Charter 135 company you are now working for or is it a scheduled air carrier. I am still planning on buying that 84/85 year model P58 one day. The FAA has issues giving me a medical, no biggie since I have decided to fly it all the time with an ATP that wants some extra money on off days. 2 pilot crew is better for me. I only have about 200 hours multi/ 1200 total and I am 60, so I want some help in the weather besides using the AP which can have issues at any time. AQP Brother!!! Nice seeing a video. I will be a patreon for the life of the channel to help you and your adventures out. Tell Kim hi! I do still remember the Mooney, lol.
Thank you for your support. I appreciate it more than you know. Busy is good! Keeps us going! Good news is when you do have down time you’ll have a bunch of videos to watch 😎. Yes it’s a 135. Second Pilot is always a good idea. Can’t wait for you to get that P58. I will be excited to hear about it. 🍻

Cleared to 6000’ “altimeters set to standard”? 🤔🤓😉
Yes. Transition Altitude in the US is 18,000’ but outside the US can vary greatly as shown here. 😉
When did you made this video? 35 ^ in November seems too high
Filmed over the summer.
England is a perfect place to fly and you also need to become familiar with R/T in Europe..🤣😅😁
Just to be clear, the transition level varies in Europe and is not uniformly 18000ft like it is in the US. Something to watch out for.
What is the reason for using VS after departure and not a speed mode?
Passenger comfort. The challenger AP hunts for the speed so it will constantly porpoise. It’s a flaw with the AP.
@ Ok interesting, it was a similar thing in the ERJ135 if it was bumpy then it would chase speed so we often used pitch mode.
What happened to the audio on the Malta descent?
What are you referring to?
