    If you engage the blower slowly with the engine at an idle it is easier on the belt. Great videos that help people understand and fix things.

    Two MTDs and a Husqvarna have made it through 45 years of snowblowing for me without losing a belt. Because we're the low spot on the street it's usual that it's slushy at the driveway apron so, in all those long years I just never, ever let the impeller stop. Nice to know now how to do it though !

    I bought one of these new with the 9.5 Briggs years ago and the only problems they seem to have is snow melts and mixes with the oily engine film and gets past the belt cover onto the drive disk sometimes . I've since sealed the area between the cover and engine and the drive doesn't slip anymore . They also had a recall on them because over priming the carb was causing fires and lastly the plastic oil drain plugs can vibrate loose and you'll loose all of the oil . Easy fixes

    Great video Donny - as usual. Very complete and detailed.
    A bit off topic: What do you know about the stool you have. My father left me one of those. I guess it's from the early 50's maybe earlier. Mine has remnants of red on the wood and silver on the legs Likely made in Canada too.
    Thanks

      @@donyboy73 Yeah. It's good for propping up your snow blower :-)
      Actually I have no idea. I'm keeping mine because it's been in my family for 66 years at least and it's the only sturdy stool I have.
      I think my belt started slipping this winter. I smelt rubber until I laid off it a bit.
      I'll be using a few of your tips on carb cleaning too. (free/picked Yardworks / MTD blower).
      Thanks for the reply and the video.

    My new Honda was touching right side first of the front auger housing than the left, it was pulling to the left as well. I adjusted the skids making sure all was adjusted to same height. Than checked tires for same psi. I figured out I had to loosen the bolts where it splits than retightened and now it touches evenly. Odd. Ever have this?

    DONYBOYU what is your feelings about the 2 cycle oil that's in a packet and you mix one packet per one gallon of gas for all 2 cycle machines. Or would it be better to mix your own gas and oil so you know what the ratio is.

    • @leeharris3061
      @leeharris3061 2 роки тому

      Waste of money in my opinion..just buy a good brand bottle of oil and a measuring cup with all the different ratios of oil on it and mix your own ..i always add just a bit more oil to the gas than recommended for 2 strokes..again im my opinion i think 50:1 is just a tad too lean so i mix it at 45:1 just for a bit more lube in the fuel ..ive not had any issues with fouling plugs doing it this way and in the long run your engine will love you long time 😁

    My Craftsmans snowblower is barely 1 year old and so far all the Shear Pins have broken, the Auger engagement cable has broken, auger belt needs to be replaced, the snow chute direction components are loose and wont stay in place... I'm so pissed off; paid like 1500$ for it last year. I dont have a garage and all my repairs need to be done outside, in the deep ass Quebec snow... Ah man, despite being built in the USA, i feel they totally cheaped out on replaceable components, and everything aftermarket is 30$ per part +++ Are all snowblower manufactuers cheaping like this ? I am looking for a new Honda or Ariens model in the near future...
