    This is very useful, for sure! What is the best thing to do to let a conure know not to bite? I am getting a conure very soon and want to start doing the correct procedures as soon as I get him! I do realize they are nippy, but would like to keep it to a minimum! Thank you for so many awesome videos.

      Hey Linda,
      I actually have a video all about conure biting, lots on conure behaviours too!
      Basically the best practice is: Not to react, to teach them to bite softly through soft targeting, have redirection techniques in place and know their body language.
      They are honestly the most charming little parrots you can have, but knowing what they can be like is so useful to curtail any of the stuff we don't like seeing!

    Go on Amazon look for toys for rabbits , they are also great for birds ! Edible wood and grass toys!

      That's true. There are some great bits in the rabbit section and many can be used for parrots. I remember someone on TikTok saying the same. Some you need to be careful of due to materials!

      Regarding the mirror, as a rule yes. I'm not the biggest fan of them, but even Pickles had one for a bit (came with her old cage) until we did a bit more digging into them.
      If he starts doing it constantly it can lead to hormonal behaviour or even stress, because he doesn't understand there isn't another bird there!
      Awesome about the chop, Sophie would be proud lol!

    My bird conure is 4 month
    How can I start to feed him fruit ?

    • @TheParrotTeacher
      @TheParrotTeacher  3 роки тому +1

      Hey there,
      Usually you can provide small pieces for them to try! Although fruit should be more of a treat food rather than part of the main diet due to the high sugar content! Vegetables are much better!

    I have a female cinnamon conure, she's about 3 years old. Also I'm her 3rd owner. She takes up with my son, not so much with me. Is it true that females birds like males humans more, and vise versa? I've had her for 2 months now and she'll sit on my shoulder and sometimes wants to go into my shirt. I'm hoping she'll get used to me.

      Hey Pat,
      I wouldn't say that's true as it tends to be down to the individual parrot and their experiences! However, you can build a bond and reinforce it by using treats, positive interactions and just respecting boundaries!
      Depending on the species parrots can favour one person or multiple people, but it can always be worked on!
