I need help!! My bird bites when she sees skin, and doesn’t bite a lot when she sees gloves. My bird is a Cinnamon Conure, and she steps up voluntarily but with beak first. I have to wear gloves to step up because I am afraid of the bites 😢. Also, easier said than done about not reacting when your bird bites 😫🦜
It is easier said than done, both me and my partner have first hand experience of being bitten, its really not pleasant! But it is the best first step to help prevent it more!
Hey Laura, It’s always tough at first when a bird is afraid. Fear of hands is very common for many parrots! It’s this giant thing coming at them and it could do anything! The best ways to start are like you’ve been doing spending time near the cage. You can also try a few other methods: Target training at an established perch, a treat bowl (a bowl you just drop something high value in and walk away) Holding your hand still with a treat in your hand and waiting as long as it takes There’s a lot to it and many of my videos cover the topics in detail!!
How does that conure at 2:08 have such a bright red coloring ? Is that a mutation
No it’s a different species of conure called a crimson bellied conure!

I need help I’ve had the sun conure for a month and she is still afraid of my hands , I can’t even get her out of the cage
Let her learn at her own pace and use clicker training with the touch method
Don’t keep putting your hand in the cage if she is uncomfortable
Just talk talk to her and be patient and start with hand feeding her
