This is the video that inspired me to take recorder lessons. It's been 1 1/2 years now. I had been thinking of playing Irish, Scottish and English lessons on the fiddle but the learning curve was too big for my age and it cost way to much to rent-to-own a used violin. So I forgot about it for 4 years and then I saw this video with the music I like played on recorders, so I looked into it and have been happy playing recorder since then. Thanks so much!
Pam...There is a lot of material out there if you read sheet music.Check out Sarah at Team Recorder too.If you don't read, try the slowdown feature (the gear shape in the bottom corner of youtube vids). The tempo slows but the pitch stays normal.
The tone of these members of the recorder family remind me of a calliope, in a way. I had never heard the contrabass, until today. Really enjoyed this group's cohesion--tonally, rhythmically, dynamically, stylistically (including articulation). Thanks for the upload!
I love this!!!!!!!!. I'm in a recorder group which is called: grupo latinoamericano de flautas dulces. And I love it. I play Sopran, alt, and the tenor recorder. All my life I played the recorder. I was in a antique recorder group that even my mom was part of it. Athen after a several years the group dissolved and that was it. Now I am in a latinoamericanos recorder group. I am since August last year. 2015. I' m very please to be in it. Congratulations to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!
Well played, I loved the tempo build up in Jenny's Chickens. A lovely contrast from the Lullaby to King Bill's Rambles. A big well done from the Bridge Ceili Band, Ireland.

Just superb playing. The 3rd tune is a jig called "Mack's fancy". To connect King Billy with it would not sit well irish people I imagine, as the Dutch King inflicted untold suffering on the populace. But I digress
The arrangements are made by Paul Leenhouts. Perhaps you can try to contact him, he is the head of the Early Music Department at University of North Texas.
Had to hit the thesaurus for a way to describe this, and still came up short . . .so I just have to say I LOVED it. Amazing, incredible, etc., etc. . . .Is there any way I can buy a copy of the arrangements? There's a lot of work in them, so maybe make a buck and share the joy by making copies available for sale?
what name is the first tune? it sounds like someone combined few like gravel walk(s) with congress reel and maybe something else... and the last one sounds a little like major version of monaghan (variations on the first part maybe...?) or are they actually specified tunes?
I teach a high school recorder ensemble in the U.S. and would love to have the music of the lullaby. Did you find music for this or arrange it yourselves?
This music was collected and arranged by Paul Leenhouts. He is playing at right, and is chief of the Early Music Department at University of North Texas
Excellent playing! But that should be “Codail a leanbh”. Bh used to be written as b with a dot above (ḃ), but somewhere along the line this has lost its dot. “Leanb” is not a word, but “leanbh” means child (Sleep child).
I like the music! :-) But, what in hell are those things the three on the left are playing? I suppose they must be 'recorders', but the design is totally unfamiliar.

Muito legal, muito legal mesmo! Flautas bem tocadas, com uma técnica boa, isso é uma coisa rara de se ver no Brasil. Parabéns ao grupo!!

Super!

the control the tenor has over his dynamics is incredible !! often if i try to cresc like that i just squeak
Paul Leenhouts is really great, isn't him?
yes!
Playing a Von Huene tenor helps! Low quality recorders simply do not respond so well to dynamics and articulation. But of course, he is a master!
I know I've commented before - but I just LOVE this!! :)

aren't irish tunes incredibly fun to play?
Yes, they are!
Never seen a rectangular recorder before.
We hope you liked it. You can watch other videos on our channel using such bass recorders, like this one: ua-cam.com/video/Z5EpAGnhvqI/v-deo.html

He is Guilherme. He doesn't play with us anymore

A little research provided the answer... they are modern design recorders.
They are the Paetzold-Kunnath square basses. They are recorders based on organ pipes, first designed on 1970's
