  • They say wisdom comes with age, but here in Sweden, it took just ten days. After a peaceful night with earplugs to block out my "bellowing deer" and a mosquito net that turned out unnecessary, we woke to an unpromising weather forecast-rain all day. Geared up in raincoats, rain pants, and overshoes, we prepared for a wet ride.
Just as we were about to set off, the skies cleared a bit. Off came the rain pants and shoe covers, but the raincoats stayed on. Against all odds, we didn't see a single raindrop for the rest of the day.
Our ride took us through a forest being cleared, with stacks of felled wood lining the path. We saw men at work with heavy machinery, making way for more clearings. Despite the forecast, we had a short but beautiful 45 km ride ahead of us, filled with varied scenery and beloved gravel roads.
The highlight? A stunning, fast descent through a hollow way where the landscape transformed four times in less than half a kilometer. We also enjoyed a roller coaster-like paved road with countless hills. Back in the forest, we encountered a family of deer, the young ones still speckled with white spots, and startled a young wild boar hiding behind stacked logs.
Eager to finish our loop, we skipped lunch and soon found ourselves back at our starting campsite. We ended our journey by lighting a small fire, savoring campfire-baked bread with fresh garlic butter, and reminiscing about our grand adventures.
Join us on this final leg of our journey and relive the moments that made this bike tour through southern Sweden unforgettable.
