There's more to the pre-trip inspection other than the exam. Should be done before every trip. This maybe how Prime would like their drivers to complete their pre-trip inspection.
Something to think about, I am a former safety director of heavy haul coal trucking company. We had a fatality accident from a driver who used a hammer on a tire that ruptured and killed him instantly. PLEASE DO NOT KICK OR BEAT A TIRE, THEY WILL BLOW. Think about this if that cap was loosened on the last trip and you hit it at the right spot and it flies out or off you are the weakest link in that chain. If it tears up trailers then what is it going to do to you.
Would it be helpful to have a pre trip inspection sheet with tick boxes good bad or needs fixing before driving? Also this would ensure the drivers checked everything proving it with paperwork… daily inspection log sheet 👍✅👌
You gotta say with every part for Schneider, properly mounted no signs of damage, no cracks for like every part and you have to verbally say it, we need a legit pre trip from one of our instructors here at Charlotte cause I need to study and that’s how they do it anyways lol
Doing a pre-trip (and post-trip) hundreds of miles away from you home, and not being paid to do it. "Working" 70 hours a week, and never receiving overtime pay for the 30 hours of overtime- EVERY WEEK. Sounds like a great career
@Kenneth Snyder I'm aware of that. I've had my CDL for nearly a decade. I was just stating how long the difference to make a video wasa year ago is all.
I failed out of CDL school because I could not remember all the CDL test wording by memory it was too much for me,even though I'm could do it with the paper ...I'm gonna have to go to another school and try again

Glad you liked the video! Due to keeping the video to 30 minutes, we couldn't show the specifics of each and every part. We will look into creating an air break test video in the future. Thanks for the feedback.
Forgot about the air brake test and pump down to make sure that both tractor and Tlr parking brake release pop out at 25 psi. Forgot to tell us about illegal stickers on the windshield
Hi Daniel, yes, we do have a "cheat sheet" of sorts that you can refer to when doing pre-trip inspections. And yes, the sheet has all of the information Dana talked about in the video!

Great video but what happened to the break test? That’s the most important when it comes to passing the test. And honestly the one most people fail almost immediately.

Great job! Only thing I would have added was once inside the cab I would verify that my coffee was full. That's the most important step.
Great tip! Driver has to stay fueled also!

You go way above and beyond what is required to pass the CDL. Allot of these things aren't required for the exam. But still I guess it's good to know.

Wow I have never heard of this before but you did mention heavy haul. Most of us watching this will never drive that type of weight around
Just wait till they blow out.
If you have a tire that ruptured from a hammer hitting it, it probably needed replaced years ago.
Thank you

Need to check that the ABS light on the trailer comes on and goes off when the ignition is turned on too.

Oh she is still there! At least she was like three years ago
The tire pressure can vary by 30 psi and the hammer test wouldn't show it
I use my steel boot test for tires
Good video
Good pre-trip, the only thing I saw that she might have mentioned is the ABS light on the trailer.
Thank you!
if learned something from this vid but the comments showed flaws in her whole video
Did your mike a video on tanker yet?
It's crazy how a pre-trip inspection take 30 minutes when you are talking everything through, but only takes roughly 10-15 minutes in reality.
Talking about it takes more time

How about checking your registration paperwork on the truck?
She did that
She did at the 28 minute mark
She mentioned that when she spoke about the permit book
Does anyone know if they offer free or discounted cigarettes during training?
Doesn't the pre-trip begin with a truck overview and then opening the engine compartment? What am I missing?

Leave some fuel in there , make sure you don't get any air in the filter by draining it JUST A LITTLE, doesn't take much
