Thank you for this video. Great work as always.
Also, just for clarification purposes, according to s1ngyy (one of the windows on odin devs), the odin display is not actually refreshing at 61hz. It's refreshing at 60hz, but the software is reporting 1 extra hz for some technical reason I didn't quite understand.
Some applications will just work fine with this arrangement, but other applications need to be manually set to the reported screen refresh rate, or they will stutter (bloodstained ritual of the night for instance, does not have the option to set the refresh rate, so it stutters a bit)
I wonder if there's a way to make the software report accurate.
Lastly, the retroarch fix presented in the video makes the sound pitch just a bit higher. It's not the end of the world, but it's worth noting it for people that cares about accurate sound emulation.
Anyway, I am really excited about the odin! These are only small things I wanted to point out

@@cat-tn5rt that’s how I’m feeling. My only concern is that the steam deck has that steam OS. So I’m worried how difficult or how many hoops I’m gonna have to jump through to get a retro emulator setup going without ruining the steam os. I don’t wanna have to setup a dual boot or whatever. Maybe there’s a way to get all these to run from steam itself or something.

@@VSMOKE1 yeah but that requires a bunch of tinkering and relying on devs to work on various projects and to keep supporting them with updates all that. Personally I’m a guy who prefers it if things just work natively without jailbreaking/modding. But who knows, the software experience side of things for the Steam Deck is still under NDA, so once that lifts I’m sure channels like LTT or others will go big into how it all works and what’s possible. Really just holding out for those videos to come out to solidify which device I’m gonna get.

Now that devices are using 5ghz wifi, can you test local network retro game netplay? (RetroArch, PPSSPP, etc).
I understand you probably only have one Odin. Maybe use the Odin to host and a Android phone as player 2 to simulate what 2 Odins might be like.

I've seen a lot of muppets with an Odin make GC showcases using the official dolphin build or not using any of the hacks that you'd need to get some of these games working on almost any phone. It's refreshing to see a handheld UA-camr actually understand the importance of this. On a side note, I tried Launchbox on my 2+ and the startup times were 20-30 seconds. Very annoying, and it pushed me into using DIG. How has your experience with LB startup times been on the Odin, and how many games do you have in your build? Thanks

Could be people used to dolphin on desktop, the official one there works really well even on low end stuff.

I REALLY want to get an Odin, but I also kinda want a Steam Deck. I can't really wrap my head or my pocket around getting both. I really wish that I could get the Odin from Amazon, test it out for 30 days, then send it back if it doesn't fit all of my emulation needs.

Thanks for adding Steamlink. Just a clarification: I can’t run Moonlight, because my PC doesn’t have a Nvidia GPU, but instead runs on an AMD APU, so Steam-streaming only works over Steamlink. Good to see that the performance is ok-ish.
Overall yet another great video. Can’t wait for the next one.

You can use AMD Link for its Moonlight equivalent, of the Sunshine app to run Moonlight on AMD. I also have an AMD GPU on my primary PC! Check out my Moonlight video - it’s made for handhelds but the setup process is the same. If you want the best quality, it’s worth your time to try Moonlight via the Sunshine app.

@@RetroGameCorps Ok, i was just trying to figure out AMD Link. It seems, like it's not working out of the box with my APU (3400G) and the latest drivers. I can connect my phone over the app with my pc, but in the app i get an error message ("ReLive not found"), neither do I get to see the "Record and Stream" options. There seems to be a workaround, installing and 2019 readeon overlay ... and do things. Well, although I consider the sunshine/moonlight solution working (good video, somehow missed it) I stay at Steamlink, it just works out of the box, without any hassle.

Should I get one of these or just stick with my Galaxy Tab S6 + telescopic controller? I love the screen on my tablet, but the controller is a little unwieldy. This thing looks like the perfect size. I also saw you showed footage of Skies of Arcadia Legends. Does it run at full speed?

Russ what do you recommend for arcade games on the Odin? Am I better going for RA (Mame of FBN core) or something like Mame4droid? I’m coming from a Linux based handheld so Android emulation is new to me. Any help is much appreciated.

Hey Russ, as an RG552 owner, I couldn't hold off of buying an Odin. As I wait, I was wondering how you are managing these two handhelds as now it feels like I rush to get the RG552 and may not have as much of a need for it anymore. Thanks for all your videos!

Save the RG552 as a backup for when your Odin runs out of battery.
