- The partnership between SMD and D'amore Engineering continues to bring out new and exciting product for the audio world. This is the newest project we are working on. It is an amplifier dyno, litterally. The AD-1 works for home, pro or car amplifiers. Unlike other methods of testing total power output, this unit will tell you what the actual RMS is. It stops testing once it stops making RMS power. Peak doesnt mean much, so why brag about it? We are going to be uploading TONS of video's soon showing all sorts of amplifiers in action. We also demonstrate in this video and others the difference between a good power supply and a bad one. We show how important the power cable is. Proof right before your eyes.

I'm actually quite surprised how much of a difference the larger power cable made. Neat tool
been waiting for one of these for so long.. ammeter, multimeter and a calculator all in one package. this coupled with the Distortion Detector is all any audio enthusiast/installer will ever need
@wow1022 yes it is. You can choose the impedance you want to measure at. If you know your impedance rise all you have to do is choose it and run the test.

That's pretty kick ass man... I kinda understand the electrical theories these guys are usin... pretty smart stuff! From the look of the components used it could go in a MUCH smaller case. Given the price of the DD-1 alone I can see why you would say the normal consumer isn't going to want to run out and get this. Would be a great idea for a shop though. Excellent idea of showing how much more power gained after using a DD-1. I wish there was a reaction choice of GOD DAMNIT HE DID IT AGAIN!

Steve I just found your sites 3 days ago and I've been addicted to them, I found your videos by accident searching "bass" on utube. @r3dhaz32 Tony D and Juan are the geniuses here....i play my own role in this partnership but they are definitely the FUCKIN SMART ones haha. This is going to be tight - but dont get to excited, it might be too expensive for a regular consumer to just go purchase. Its going to be a serious piece of testing equipment when done.

@diablo2369 no sheep-shit bro, thanks for informing me of that LOL. If you KNOW the most imp rise you will see is 5 ohms then that is something you can test for. If its more then that then test for that. Its pretty simple.

I am very curious about the wattage readings, I mod an repair amps daily. Class A/B amps almost never fall in wattage output to the decimal. I.e. 620.1 pc.
i was thinking the same ... and do you change balasts with a push of a button ?

are you going to have any kind of THD reading for it? i get that it will cut off at clipping, but to truly clamp an amp, you need to know THD as well, IMO
your product line up is increasing, the dd-1 was the thing that every1 needed, as the o-scope was just not convenient!
Try running the Crown on 240 volts....Should get some serious numbers out of it...I have 2 of them running on 240 volts...

@meade916 is uses some of the same parts as the dd-1 right? so to save on cost could you guys make this like an add on for it? i would love to see this hit the public. even if it cost same or little more as dd-1 i'm sure a TON of people would by it.

I've been waiting for something to test the true watts of an amp. will this be a finished product to be sold like the DD-1? maybe this might change how these cheaper brands label their watts? I remember buying no name brand amps that say 1500 Watts when it really was 1/3 of what it claimed. I used to think that was rms. lol. someone had to come up with it. good shit.
