My boyfriend's extended family is very christian and they always tell his (schizophrenic) mother that the voices are "Satan trying to tempt you to do bad things" and we both get really irritated.. I feel bad for her. She could be a completely different person right now if circumstances had been different and been able to get treatment. I think all that Satan nonsense is harmful, too, because writing any illness off as Satan ignores the real problem and keeps you from getting the proper help you need.
Just yesterday, my best friend Ethan was kicked out of his house by his parents. He is below 18, doesn't have any financial support, and only has shelter because of his friends, and all of this because he is bisexual.I feel like I can relate to this video a lot right now...
Ethan's parents kicking him out just because he's bisexual? Just stupid. And get this, I'm a Christian. The Bible says that we should love everyone as we love ourselves, even if we believe they are unrepentant sinners. Yes, it says certain things are sins, but it doesn't say we should treat them any worse. I'm on your side for this issue, even though I have the same beliefs as Ethan's parents.
+Meis smart I'm Wiccan, but I can see the points of Atheism. And in regard to loving others as ourselves, the bible does state that Christians shouldn't associate with people of other faiths. I'd like to think you could be cordial. But some people do take it literally. How sad.
Really? Because from what I know, the Bible says homosexuality is unholy or something along those lines, at least the old testament, anyway. It also says anyone who has no faith in god should burn in hell.
QZ Sue Where does it say that? The Bible says to love everyone as we love ourselves, sinner or not. The Bible doesn't say we should break friendships with people of different beliefs. Well, what you say does apply when it comes to marriage. But not friendships.
@Sharon Cinna You need two so they can watch each other. Once they are separated from their cult, they tend to turn into Jack Mormons. Jack Mormons talk the talk, but don't really walk the walk, if you know what I mean.
My parents are Jehovah's Witnesses, and I'm scared to tell them I'm an atheist. Not coming out is holding me back from doing stuff I want to do, like starting an atheist club for my school.
Just because she thanked God doesn't mean she didn't thank the nurse also. Just to let you know you can thank more than one person, which I assume she did. There's really no reason to accuse someone like that.
The first men to raise the idea of religion were geniuses in my opinion; devious and immoral geniuses, granted... but even still. It's a completely full-proof way to dominate over the ignorant. Think of the number of countries in which the church was even above the law in most cases at certain points in history. Religion has also helped to dominate over women and convince society that women's submission is not only mandatory by order of a higher power, but commonplace amongst the community.
+ZiN Well, that's not necessarily the case. Religion did serve a purpose. It was pretty much the only way in the early days of assembling groups of humans larger than their pack size of 5 to 20 individuals to make them cooperate. Usually packs don't work together but instead start to fight each other for resources. If you want to build a larger community you need a way to make them cooperate. And since CCTVs were not invented yet, the supernatural CCTV had to step in. It's quite ingenious. You can threaten people with eternal punishment if they don't do what you want them to do, and you need to provide no proof whatsoever because there is no way to test your claim.
0x777 I didn’t even think about it from a cooperation stand point. I see both your and comfy couches’ points, but I don’t quite fully agree with them. Frankly I think that they were created to explain the unexplainable. Say you think you saw a ghost or whatever (I don’t believe in them) but let’s say you saw something ( *more generally speaking* ) that you couldn’t explain, you’d explain it with whatever reasoning you could muster. Frankly I think most religions stem from early more primitive ones, forgive the term sounding superior or whatnot in tone. By primitive I mean more tied with nature, they don’t deal exclusively or largely on ethics like the religions of today generally do, they dealt with explaining nature. Sometime later on though I believe people did realize they could use religion to control, convince, and coerce others to do the “will” of the divinity. That’s my view at least, you can feel free to feel differently.
How such absurdity get so many likes? Religion wasn't 'rised' by some people. Religiousity is natural to human beings. It was not taken from thin air but from real internal or external basis. 'Opium created for the people', 'fear of death' and 'supernatural explaination of uknown phenomena' hypothesis' were disproven not only by philosophy of religion but by natural sciences. "Man becomes aware of the Sacred because it manifests itself, shows itself, as something wholly different from the Profane." "To whatever degree he may have desacralized the world, the man who has made his choice in favor of a profane life never succeeds in completely doing away with religious behavior." Mircea Eliade
@@TheGeneralGrievous19 philosophy has no clean cut answer for things and doesn't necessarily give any "yes to this" and "no to that" responses. I feel I need to say this, but natural science didn't disprove religion, and it's goal isn't to do so. See this is the thing I have trouble understanding. Some of you who are religious are fine with others differing in what religion they follow, yet when someone says they don't believe in anything you end up treating them as though they're in a crisis? What?
I like the following argument: Man A: "God, please save me from my sinking boat" Man on canoe: "Hey, jump on my canoe!" Man A: "That's okay, I prayed and God will save me" Man A: "God, my boat is sinking even more! Please save me!" Man on speed boat: "Hey, jump on my speed boat!" Man A: "That's okay, I prayed and I have faith God will save me" Man A: "God, my boat is sunk and I can't swim for much longer. Please, save me!" Man in helicopter: "Hey, grab the ladder to my helicopter!" Man A: "That's okay, I prayed and I know God won't let me die. He will save me" Man A dies and goes to heaven. Man A: "God, I prayed and prayed and you did nothing to save me!" God: "Let's see, I sent you a man on a canoe, a man on a speed boat, and a man in a helicopter. What more did you want?" Not saying that I'm a religious person or believe in god, but I feel like this story accurately represents a lot of religious people.
+Stephanie Sanchez Just tell her the truth. I did and my mom can't force me to go to church anymore. It was hard the first few months, she's going to think you're evil or something is wrong with you, but eventually she'll realize you're the same as you've always been. It as worth it.
Am a christian, I find your vids really interesting though because your views are on point. Most religions are oppressive and discourage questioning or criticism. I believe everyone has a right to follow whichever faith they feel comfortable in or even to follow no faith at all. Everyone deserves respect no matter what the choose to believe as long as what they believe doesn't affect others negatively. Am enjoying your vids I'll keep watching
My baby cousin was 8 months old and suffered from pneumonia, he cried all through the night and his body was under extreme high temperatures, coughing and crying, but his mother(my aunt) decided to pray it away, all through the night, my aunt had so much faith in prayer but he died the morning after at around 6am. I REALLY wished my aunt would've took him to a hospital instead of praying. I was crying all the way to the morgue when we had to leave him there
One of the kids in my grade, last year, killed himself. 5 weeks later (yes. 5 WEEKS) we had a guidance counselor come in and the one of the first things she said was “I guess, it was just apart of gods plan” I swear I was ready to stand up and start a fight. Suicide or having suicidal tendencies is my god’s plan and never EVER think of it that way.
+Nicholas Tsimerekis (Nicholas Awesomepants) how can you say the world is not a perfect place when the perfect God made it? The Paradox of religion is determination. If God is all-knowing and all-powerful you can not take medicine ever and say that you are faithful. You are a convenient Christian. If God has a plan and he wants you to die comma then his plan is for you to die. If you don't take medicine and survive then that was his plan if you do take medicine that you were trying to circumvent God's plan. Sorry you can say all the crap you want about medicine is okay it's not in the Bible, but if we had atheist can make this argument and we can then you are fooling yourself to cut off your nose and spite your faith.
+Nicholas Tsimerekis (Nicholas Awesomepants) +Nicholas Tsimerekis (Nicholas Awesomepants) you're not imposing your beliefs on this. But if you could vote to make a law on whether abortion was okay for others, how would you vote? so to say that you wouldn't impose your beliefs on how this is bull crap unless you could say you would vote against such law. and if God's plan is more powerful than medicine then why take the medicine? see your response is not a rational response it's one that tries to be rational, but Falls flat when logic is applied. if you take medicine then you show a lack of faith and doubt. no other way around it
It is so damn hard to find atheists who aren't self-righteous idiots who just want to call others stupid! I have strategically checked out your videos with the most "controversial" titles to see what you have to say about things and I am impressed. You're actually a decent human being who uses his critical thinking properly! I wish more people were like this.
"Self-righteous idiots?" "Call others stupid?" First, I don't name call anybody unless they really, REALLY deserve it, and you basically just called me an "idiot" based on no information about me other than my lack of religious belief. And you have the nerve to call ME the "self-righteous" one? Do you have ANY idea how hypocritical you sound?
A Imraah Was I talking to you personally? Have you seen how most atheists act online? They fit my description perfectly. I'm an atheist too and didn't call anyone an idiot because of their lack of religious belief. I called them idiots because they act like idiots. What's your point?
You said "It is so damn hard to find atheists who aren't self-righteous idiots." I am an atheist, so that implies you were calling me a "self-righteous idiot." I don't appreciate that. (Actually, I'm kind of indifferent about the "self-righteous" part, but I'm definitely upset about the "idiot" part.) And now you claim that you "didn't call anyone an idiot because of their lack of religious belief." Then, what? When you said "It is so damn hard to find atheists who aren't self-righteous idiots," was it some trait common to all atheists other than our lack of religious belief that you were referring to? Because, last time I checked, lack of religious belief is the only trait that's common to all atheists. Have I seen how atheists act online? Yes. We're usually right about what we say, at least when talking on subjects of philosophy and spirituality. I don't see YOUR point. Indeed, in my experience, both online and off, my fellow atheists and I tend to be the most intelligent and principled members of any group. The basis for which you call us "idiots" eludes me, especially when you claim to be one of us (though I wonder). Good day.
A Imraah Do you only take what you like from a person's comment? I'm an ATHEIST MYSELF! But that doesn't make me blind to the fact that the vast majority of atheists online only like calling others stupid while they themselves being self righteous, violent kids who probably like the term only because it goes against what their parents want from them and they rebel with it without even having a reason behind it. Just read the comments to many of these videos. While some people seem balanced critical thinkers that back up their claims with proper information, many respond to others' opinions like retarded little brats. Sorry, but just because I'm an atheist, I'm not going to ignore the fact that a big part of the people who share my disbelief are idiots. Check out other atheist youtubers. Little extremist brats who think they hold the ultimate truth about everything. Not cool in my book; they're just like religious people who do the same thing, trying to shove their ideas down others' throats with nothing to back it up other than "well this is the truth and you're dumb if you think otherwise". Which is why I like this guy. He actually is a logical, critical thinker. The kind of person I'm happy to identify with. If you identify with the violent, self righteous brats I'm talking about, I'm sorry I offended you, but it's my opinion. If you're a logical thinker with reasons for your position related to atheism, then my comment was not intended for you, so you have literally NO REASON for getting butthurt.
Incredible! I've heard of "self-loathing Jews," but you're the first "self-loathing atheist" I've ever met! (And I hope the last.) I haven't seen any of the things you accuse atheists of being. And I'll remind you of a couple things. First of all, violence perpetrated for religious beliefs is something RELIGIOUS people do, not atheists. In the history of humanity, nobody has ever been murdered for refusing to accept atheism, killing somebody for not sharing your religious beliefs is something that only fantasy believers do. That's not to say that an atheist can't be violent for other reasons, but when we have violence in our hearts, it doesn't stem from our penchant for "spiritual skepticism." And secondly, whereas the first words of yours I ever read were an insult against atheists ("self-righteous idiots"), atheists don't resort to name calling. Name calling and threats of violence are things that people resort to when their logic fails. And an atheist's logic doesn't fail. That's the whole reason to commit to atheism! Because its the only belief system that's logic is impeccable! You accuse atheists of doing these two things. I haven't seen it. But, as a person with a scientific mind, I have to acknowledge that it's possible. So I'll say that atheists who threaten violence in the name of atheism and whose logic fails so they resort to name calling probably aren't atheists and/or haven't been atheist very long. I've been an atheist all my life, just like my parents were and the majority of my family members are. To me, you seem to be the one who doesn't know what it means to be an atheist. And you are the one who aught to be ashamed for your attitude. Good day.
It's also harmful if it encourages hypocritically selective disabling of critical thinking, all while insisting that others should question everything, as well as other double standards. Another way to know whether it's harmful is if it forces you to equate the subjectivity of limited collections of knowledge with omniscience. Denying stuff when they don't fit the unfalsifiable heap of information mistaken as reality If it makes you unable to think from other's perspective, or limit it to strawman versions, then it may also be harmful
My loving Christian parents gave birth to my sister, an atheist at the moment. And what do they do? Love her unconditionally. This is the example you should follow no matter what your beliefs. If you can't love those in your life now, why do you exist?
Amen. Joking. This is also how I feel. I dont feel religion(or lack of) should define the person. It should be the morales and the ethics of that person.
There is one factor you ignore. She is your SISTER. She is their CHILD. What if she weren't a family member? Would they love her then in her atheism? I can say in all truthfulness that the most UNloving people I have known in my lifetime have been devout Christians. And I vomit when I hear them whinny that "Jesus" is the personification of love. In my book, Christians don't have a clue as to what love REALLY is.
Alien 1: Hey, remember how Bob went down to earth dressed as a human and healed random sick people Alien 2: lol yea Alien 1: Well 2019 years later, they are still worshiping bob Alien 2: Haha no way... Shouldn't they be smarter? Alien 1: guess not
Okurin Gaming not really but sure. the idea of them being here on earth is pretty unlikely, but there definitely is some life out there in the universe.
Dont listen to religious people, most of them are homophobics. They dislike same-sex.Be yourself, love the "person" you loved. We dont love the gender, but the person
I belong to a religion which has all 8 of these things. I've put so much thought into my own beliefs & actually used "critical thinking", and realized that a lot of things just don't add up.. I don't want to belong there anymore. Trying to leave my religion, however, might be the hardest thing I'll ever do in my entire life. And I'm only 16... it's kind of scary just thinking about how much my life would change if I left. What do I do?...
Skip going to church for a bit and see how you do. Leaving religion is a process. You don't have to rush! Locate a secular group in your area to visit.
I remember when I was being confirmed at my church, my pastor was actually extremely supportive of my curiosity and doubt. Part of it did stem from my father having a terminal illness, but even later when I started to research things he never told me I was wrong or shamed me for it. Pastor Tim in general was a really open guy - I remember a specific instance where he said he appreciated my skepticism more than the other kids blind faith because it meant I actually cared about the truth. Seeing other people's stories about their past experiences in church makes me really thankful I had such an understanding dude as a pastor.
British society became more racist in mid century,[28] but Darwin remained strongly against slavery, against "ranking the so-called races of man as distinct species", and against ill-treatment of native people.
I have something u can sleep on. So I'm guessing your the evolution big bang kind of guy. Therefore, I'm hypothesizing that you believe in the big bang theory, not that god made our earth. Now, take a print shop, lets just say it suddenly explodes. Now, according to your little evolution the result of the exploding print shop is going to make a dictionary? Now apply this to the big bang. Lets see some shots fired tough guy
Fad Fudge The universe came to be the way it is today through gravity, big objects pulled in smaller objects, which would collide and eventually after millions of year would make the big object even bigger and attract more objects. The gravitational pull of this now gigantic object would pull it into a spherical form, thus creating stars. The stars would pull chunks of ice and rock into orbit, these asteroids would go through a similar process, creating the planets and moons. Everything is the way it is because of gravity's pull after the big bang. This process would take billions of years, it did take billions of years, to create the planets and stars all around us.
@The Gaytheist I'm an atheist but Satan was not mentioned once in Genesis (when eve met the snake) Bible just says "the snake." Doesn't have anything to do with this convo but just wanted to throw this out.
Ikr. The Bible says that if you don't obey God and Jesus that you'll go to hell and get tortured for eternity. But that's literal immoral. Basically the biblical God is saying ,,Hey obey me and do things that you don't want and you'll end up in heaven. If you do normal human things like a human you end up in hell, your choice" like bro what? That's literally not free choice because if hell is real nobody would want to go there.
Phelan "Respect" isn't a card to be played, it should just be there, and there is a massive lack of it among antitheists. Is believing in a god delusional? No. While the God of the Gaps may be considered a fallacy to use in a debate, it is still a valid argument to use for one's own belief.
Phelan I did provide an argument... --> "While the God of the Gaps may be considered a fallacy to use in a debate, it is still a valid argument to use for one's own belief."
Phelan An argument is an explanation for why, so you did ask for an argument. What I provided and already quoted once for you is the argument that supports how religious belief is different from delusion.
Automatically subed :) I used to be a Catholic... Unfortunately when I exposed my self to the family as an atheist.. My mother said I was unrecognizable as her son... It did hurt at first but managed to look over it..
i'm going through this , I'm in so much pain... I can't believe in this religion anymore it's hurting me as a person. I want to rise up be and be better not to have this label i don't believe in. I wish i was sorry for it but i know it will be worth it. He sound's just like i want to be, i want right's for everyone. not because of your religion you are wrong we just don't agree and that's fine. we just got to accept other's ://
eL CHiVaTo At what terms you become an atheist then? Nah you are just lazy to go to church and you are a materialistic person. It is safer to believe in God than to know that there is really an INVISIBLE INTELLIGENT BEING out there.
According to judaism, your life is FAR more important than religion and if you are sick in sabath you should go to the hospital right away That's why I respect judaism
Martin Garcia wow! I wished Christianity is the same. You know, the most dominant religion there is that believe in stoning lgbt to death. The religion that promotes the book of evil and their morals revolve around it, nothing else.
That's completely true. Our Rabbi told my mom she needed to eat during Yom Kippur when she was really sick. He said God would not punish her for taking care of her health.
I live in Singapore and I want to add a number 9 to the list. No.9: Your religion is harmful when your rituals causes air-pollution that risks the lives of those with respiratory illnesses. Seriously, does the offerings for the dead worth risking the lives of the living?
The nail in the coffin is critical thinking. Part of the reason it is taboo amongst many people to criticize religions. You can do it to anyone elses, just not yours...
If a Jehovahs Witness willingly takes a blood transfusion: 1: They will be "Disfellowshiped" (There are some shades of grey when it comes to disfelowshiping) 2:There family is allowed to talk to them if there is a Family Issue. They are even allowed to live at a family members home if they can not afford a place of there own. 3:They are welcome to come to the "Kingdom Hall" (Church) and sit and listen. However no one at the Kingdom Hall is allowed to talk to them. 4: MANY Jehovahs witnesses do not like the Disfellowshipping process. And some will still speak to a disfellowshiped person secretly, however they risk being disfellowshiped themselves for talking to a disfellowshiped person if they are caught. 5: Its a DANGEROUS religion
What's the matter with blood transfusions, though? Is it "oh you showed lack of faith because you chose a blood transfusion when you know a little praying would* have worked just as well." Is that it? * wouldn't necessarily.
***** They Bible says in the old testament too not drink blood, because blood is holy and is the essence of life and life belongs to God. So in respect to God and life and not taking from God they do not take Transfusions. The thought is Blood transfusions are no different then drinking blood. They also several decades ago did not accept organ transplants because it was basically the same thing as cannibalism. Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe that the Mosaic Law is valid anymore. But just like every religion they don't mine cherry picking it.
My religion teaches that faith being used to fix a problem is only part of it. It doesn't hurt to pray for God to help you if you're already trying the best you can. In fact, in my opinion, sometimes it really helps merely by calming down the person and allowing them to think more clearly.
7000Darklight One person's prayer is another person's silent non-religious meditation. Toe-may-toe, Toe-mah-toe. As for everything else you typed, I can't speak for christianity as a whole but I can personally speak for myself. I do my best to go every sunday. I do the best I can to "love thy neighbor as thy self" each day. I never force my religion upon anyone. I've never once gone up to someone and claimed that they're going to hell. In fact my two best friends living with me are pagans. They tell me Merry Christmas and I tell them Happy Yule. I can in no way claim that the Bible's complete modern day contents are 100% accurate. I acknowledge that Constantine and a group of people were picking and choosing what would be accepted and what would be rejected. I acknowledge that wordings got changed in translation. However that doesn't make the message to "love one another" null and void.
You should try Buddhism then. It teaches a lot about critical thinking and unlike other religions there is no deity in Buddhism. Instead of worshiping someone of the highest power Buddhism emphasis on self-reliance. I think they offer good philosophies.
Choose an answer. A."Knives are good, because people have survived because of them." B."Knives are evil, because people get killed from them." Neither is true, because the knife is dependant upon the user. Choose again. A."Religion is bad, because people kill for it." B."Religion is good, because people make charities because of it." Still, neither is true, because religion is dependant upon the believer.
Nothing is truely good or bad, even something designed to kill, like a Gun, can be used to help others, scaring a criminal, stopping a robbery ect. And even something designed for good, a Car, for example, can run people over, cause accidents, ect.
I hate the implication that religion owns the monopoly on "charity". It doesn't take religion to do charity. People do the charity, not the religion. The last time I paid attention to the Pope trying so do charity, he went to AIDS sufferers in Africa and told them not to use condoms, the one thing besides abstinence that can protect others from AIDS. How is that moral? He basically told them not to care about the physical welfare of their partners. Good people will tend to do good things, with or without religion. Bad people will tend to do bad things, with or without religion. Let me put it another way. When we were kids, Santa gave us presents for being good. When we grew up and stopped believing in Santa, did we stop getting presents? No, our friends and loved ones gave us presents. We don't need Santa to share gifts. Just as we don't need religion to do charity. If you are a charitable person, charity is within you.
Hi Hermant, I am a Christian. I have been watching your videos and I am really touched by your sincerity and truthful perspectives. I also confess that many Christians, include myself and leaders in churches have such a bad representation of what we believe. I just want you to know that I am happy to hear your perspectives and if I ever meet you in person, I am happy to be friends with you. I am sorry for the many treatments that you received from Christians. I also believe that hearing others' perspectives allows us to see our flaws as human beings, so I really value your videos and opinions. Thank you Hermant!
Recently I learnt that someone I used to care a lot about converted to Christianity. They used to be rational and critically thinking, but after they opened their third eye, they apparently got convinced that demons exist, somehow..? I used to trust this person, but now they're telling me that I need Jesus, and I'm like "Seriously... My mum, my dad, my grandma, everyone else, and now you??" I felt a little betrayed. I don't know exactly why. I didn't know them really well, but I just felt like I had a connection with them... a connection that's now magically been tainted. I feel like this shouldn't mean so much to me, but it does.
Maybe you should just respect their life choice. Just because they converted doesn't mean you can't trust them anymore. Treat them as you did before! If you find that they aren't respecting you then I understand, but don't feel like you've been "betrayed" because they decided to follow a path differently than your's.
The modern new age christian basically thinks logical but uses GOD as comfort, support and hope because they're terrified of losing control, hell and the unknown. Might never go to church but on easter & christmas.
I’m a high schooler and at some point I was in a conversation with a group of people and I said “humans are destroying our world” and I full grown adult told me “this isn’t our world, this is just where we are now. We will go to heaven and it will be beautiful so it doesn’t matter what we’re doing to this planet”
i said my mom i dont believe in god she said "so youre not not my son you just a evolved bacteria" (she said that because of the evolution theory and blah blah blah ) GG 11/10 MOTY
To me, praying is a last resort that I'd reserve for when things are truly out of my control. For example, while I would work to earn a degree or get out of debt, I'd pray that humanity doesn't get wiped out in a nuclear holocaust, or that a meteor doesn't destroy the Earth, because that's clearly something that's beyond my ability to control.
Actually both examples are both things you could help prevent. You could help gain support for nuclear disarmerment. The second example even worse because there are literally people whose job is to track near Earth asteroids and physicists and engineers who design methods to prevent an impact if a possible collision was detected.
OfficialPinkaMenaX but can we do it. NO, we can not move a asteroid so who can GOD. in Islam we have a prayer and what we say is, o god protect me from in front and from behind, and on my right and on my left and from above, protect me from below lest i be swallowed up by the earth. you have probably heard of people and hole towns being destroyed by sink holes. it is a truly terrifying thing and nobody ever knows the sink hole is there until its to late only god knows and only god can protect you from it. another example is earthquakes and eruptions, nobody ever know when the destruction is coming, so people prepare for them but their preparations could fail, so you must pray that it will work, why because god has control over every thing, he could make them work and he could make them fail. Until the earthquake or eruption happens you will never know only god dose because he knows everything.
While it is true that we don't currently have a implemented method for redirecting asteroids we are capable of doing it. Whether we do it by landing a probe with a rocket engine on it, hitting it at a high velocity, or another method. With proper geological surveys one could probably find sink holes and we could not build in places that are prone to the formation of sink holes. It is also true that earthquakes and eruptions are very hard to predict with any accuracy, but we do have ways of defending against them. New developments in structural and material engineering are making build safer and safer against earthquakes. Eruptions are hard to defend against because they are can be unpredictable and are incredibly powerful. There are ways of predicting the likely hood of a volcanic eruption or earthquake. I think I'd rather trust scientist and engineers then pray to God and hope He is in a good enough mood to save the Earth.
I think that prayer may also have one more effect that people are forgetting about which is... the placebo effect. Even though the placebo effect is still the object of debate there is research proving that it has some effects. So yeah, a person that prays and believes that it'll help can get some positive effects in his/her personal problems (science YEAH!). However about bigger events like volcanoes or meteorites... yeah, i'll take much more than just a prayer.
2:18 So what if 'your soul is in jeopardy'? They won't allow a 'soul in jeopardy' back into the house?! So what are they doing with their Christianity exactly?
0:53 yup.... 1 Timothy 2:12 - I do not permit a woman to teach or assume authority over a man; she must be quite 1 Corinthians 14:34 - Let your women be silent in assemblies, for they are not allowed to speak, but to be in subjection, just as the Written Law also says
I often challenge christians about the misogyny that exists throughout the bible. Usually they dodge the issue, but yet many modern christian churches and of course the catholic church do not believe that women should be preachers, priests and pastors. They fail to explain why this discrimination is part of their religion.
They dodge it because the issue of time in the Bible is very fluent. For example in the 2nd letter of Peter he writes: "But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." Also in Hebrew (in which part of the Bible was written) there was no word describing "years". And, when they said that Noah was 950 years old, they say he had 950 jubilees. And jubilee=50 years. I don't know how it corresponds to the scientific discoveries about the origins of a human (I didn't count it) - I'm writing the above to illustrate that the time of God is not our time. There are, however, many evidences on God's existence - you just need to look for them, if you are truly interested in the Truth.
I agree with point #4 as well. Imagine how many families in poverty could be fed with all of the money that is invested in all of these churches and pastors.
Hemmens Metta Ur totally Awesome dude From you I was totally delivered from religion And god and gods And a FALSE satan Thanks to your video's I saved myself I'm now a full blown Atheist How Awesome
I love this video so much , you’ve helped me understand everything that’s wrong with my religion better...I grew up in a church VERY SIMILAR to what you just described called Light of the World Church. Although it will be tough, I cannot wait to turn 18 I am gonna finally have freedom from that church and my deeply religious family.
you can lead a jackass to water but you can't make it drink. people that are closed minded are weak minded. I'm a Christian, but I'm also open minded to why others feel and believe in what they do. I have no problem with people not believing in god. I mean that's their personal preference, then so be it. Who am I to judge some one else's feelings on things...
SteelCity1981 People aren't atheists out of personal preference or because of feelings. No version of god has ever met its burden of proof and atheism is simply accepting that fact.
I believe in God and Jesus and the Bible but I do not support the mistreatment of gay, lesbian, women or other races. In my eyes and God's they are all the same; amazing Human beings.
Hey Hemant, I myself have struggled with the dropping the deistic belief from my families strong roman Catholic background, my mother became mentally Ill 2 years ago from stress from an abusive relationship then returning back to christian church for help. I've had an awful time trying to help myself realise that a deity or the supernatural is not real and in-plausible, your video has helped me.
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. This guy is a hedonist, "Religion is harmful if you have to miss out on pleasures of this life."
We say we have no sin because sin is a concept, and in fact the ideas of sin can be explained by logic. The reason people do desperate, depraved things is because they feel they are in desperate, depraved circumstances. A person is more prone to rob when they feel they *have* to rob, and that is to say that they feel they cannot obtain what they want any other reasonable way. How these types of things can be brought into people is if they are disempowered. If they have to fight and claw for everything in their lives, especially from their own environment, it conditions the individual that he or she must continue to do this to obtain what they want. We have a whole world that disempowers people, but it is key to say that religion is only one body that does this. Another would be stereotypes, how we value money, all sorts of systems that create a social game of "Us vs Them". This social game is the source of much conflict in the world, and thus the source of depravity in people, for we have disempowered them and gave the things we dislike more ammo for them to partake in.
ShakinJamacian Sin is a concept... like death, and pain, and suffering, and hurt, and everything bad in the world is a concept. Sin is an idea... like how there is nothing evil in the world. Sin is a concept... like how there is no such thing as righteousness from God in Christ. ---*If we acknowledge our sin, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sin, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.* If you want to live deluded of your own depravity and try to empower yourself that is your choice. But when you believe that only God is good, yes, He gave His Son to die for you, to redeem you and give you peace, joy, and everlasting life. Then you will quit trying to justify yourself and living in an alternate world where sin is not real, where each person defines what is good for them, and rather, give the glory and honor to God that is due to your Creator, for He has given the world the greatest good, His Only Son, Jesus Christ.
nathanyamaha465 I think you should have said "low how there is no such thing as God or Christ." Gods are nothing more than ego projection in many ways, for they too are nothing more than a concept.
+ShakinJamacian Yep.. and you can't be sure if you're actually a living being (with a body and a soul), because you can't remember if you ate the blue or red pill...
nathanyamaha465 But you do understand that "sin" is a religious concept? If you just assume for a moment that there is no god then the whole idea of sin is gone... So since I'm an atheist (never mind who of us is right or wrong about the existence of god) there IS no sin for me... Which is not to be confused with the idea that I don't have any morals...
My open femur break healed up after paramedics called by a bystander performed blood transfusion on me, a surgeon put the pieces of the bone back into place, screwed them together and stitched my leg closed, after which I was treated for several months by nurses in the hospital payed for entirely by the internet on GoFundMe. *Thank you god for healing my open femur break.*
It's interesting you say you feel judged by a lot of religious people because I have felt judged by several atheists I have encountered while in graduate school. In fact, many atheists have made incredibly bogus assumptions about me and what my political views are the moment they find out I am religious. Some call me stupid for believing in God and they have never even had a valid conversation with me about these issues. Some assume that I am irrational and do not critically think, which could not be further from the truth. Some atheists are just as self-righteous and proselytizing as the fundamentalist religious people they criticize.
those people should have just asked you. im an atheist but i dont disrespect a religion. if people just had a conversation about it the world would be a happier place.
sportsmed77 as an atheist... I do respect other people, no matter what religion they are part of, but i have my opinions about your religion. Those are just jerks tho, ignore them.
sportsmed77 just know that when he's talking he's been judged by religious people doesn't mean that he's talking for all people, just how atheist aren't all judgy over religion
One of my best friends has a religion that says it is forbidden to eat pork. She takes that seriously, she has never eaten salami! Once I asked her the reason for that, she replied "because it is impure". I asked her why again and she simply did not find any argument, not even a laughable one.
I think it's silly that Christians think if something bad happens to an atheist, for example: an atheist gets cancer & dies, it means he deserves it for not accepting jesus as his lord & savior & he is bound for hell. But if a child gets cancer & dies, it's because god has a special plan for him/her & the child will get into heaven. God likes to fuck with us, huh? 🙃
The individual has been persecuted throughout time. Religious leaders would say that building yourself is evil, how can this be? How can loving and believing in oneself be a bad thing? What would happen if we had a society of kind, compassionate, and reasonable individuals. How can anything that is pleasurable be bad? If one knows themselves they will not lose themselves to hatred, perversion, ignorance, the group, and their own emotions.
How will you explain the deeds of the first apostles? The government was against them. They were castaway by the society. Even their families betrayed them- they were enemies of everyone. And still they chose to follow Christ's teaching. Was that money? What was that?
hogfather22 Why do you change the topic mentioning some sects if what we've been talking about was "religion"? Not denominations. Give me a proper example.
You know, it has never happened in a history before, that a person would give his life for something, he didn't know for sure or for something, he'd know was untrue. (exception, of course, mad people). People only die for extreme high ideals they have. Even when a person has big priorities, still there's a doubt if one he would die for them. And then we find stories in the historical sources of how thousands and thousands of Christians were eaten by lions, burnt as torches to light up the city, crucified, ect., for refusing to give up Christianity. How can that be named?..
Those are all good points that made better by you then most spiritual leaders that I've heard these days!😀 I'm a Catholic Christian who believes in virtue and sin for there is right and wrong. Other reasons why religion is harmful is if involves fearmongering, hatemongering, warmongering and if it ironically claims to "fix" your problems! >:O Like with Scientology claiming that they rid people of negative influences through their auditing processes while condemning psychology and psychiatry as evil which has led to the murder of Elli Perkins that I saw from an episode of the ID channel show Deadly Devotion the "Scientology Cure" where her son Jeremy had Schizophrenia whom his mother did not take him to see a psychiatrist for she was taught by Scientology that psychology and psychiatry are evil instead they "helped" his situation by teaching her alternative medicine which the schizophrenic son had mistaken it for her poisoning him which scared him into killing her! >:O If Elli would've taken her son to a psychiatrist or a psychiatric hospital instead believing Scientology's bullshit nonsensible beliefs she would've saved her son and she would've been alive!:'O >:O Christian Science and certain Christian churches forsake medicine for "divine/faith healing" and Jehovah's Witnesses do the same thing with blood transfusions! :P Their beliefs that by forsaking these things for God's healings are more like their delusional fantasy for the reality is that parents who practice these beliefs on their children who have severe illnesses that can be saved by medicine and blood transfusions have died from their illnesses and the parents are in jail for negligent homicide! >:O Even if there are Christian who don't promote hatemongering like the Ku Klux Klan and Muslims who don't promote warmongering like Al-Qaeda there are Christians, Jews, and Muslims as well as their cult counterparts who promote fearmongering and false bizarre and negative beliefs like the Christians that I've met who have told me that women (I was like ok what about men being evil too?! >:O), Atheism, Satanism, Occultism, Polytheism, Hinduism (a, Buddhism, and Islam (Although some Muslims would say the same the same thing about Christianity) are evil, or like how a Christian woman told me when it comes to tithing it's not just generosity it's obedience (which I know she means especially the church needs financial support it's just I felt like what she said could used by the wrong people to manipulate other financially like what happened to one of my IOP zoom meeting's attendent's parents who didn't give tithings to a church and because of that the church's pastor shamed/embarrassed/humiliated them and kicked them out of his church), Some of the Evangelical Christians that I've meet perform exorcisms on people with psychological problems like when I was at Monmouth Worship Center I had psychological and social issues that caused me to make some very bad mistakes at that place! >:O Mistake #1 I've made threats to someone on the phone in the prayer room and I've shown the text to a Chrisitan woman named Julie who used to give me rides and whose daughter Isabella invited to me that place she told the other members where I got called up to the Sanctuary where they a performed an exorcism on me where they (didn't tie me up as they did in the movies) laid their hands on me and pray the anger whatever was wrong with me that made me send that threatening text I've yawned which they believed that an evil spirit left me but I don't believe that an evil spirit did possess me in the first place! >:O, I've told Julie that I was feeling irritable towards people who were mean to me in the past she laid her hand on me and said in the name of Jesus I cast out this spirit of irritability before and after yelling you're not within the holy spirit, Duca yelled at me that you're disrupting the holy spirit, the senior pastor's wife who told me that I hear the voice of Satan, Pastor Joe that me he was worried about me going to hell, Isabella telling me that Pokemon is evil, Harry Potter is demonic, saying that you're with us or against us (I know that Jesus said it's just I liked it a lot better when Jesus said that not Isabella) and Julie yelling at me I have the authority but I guess that's just psychological abuse compared to all these online and on tv Christians talking about fasting cures cancer exorcists who smothered an autistic kid with a blanket to death because the exorcist thought he was demon-possessed when really the kid was autistic, and an exorcist poured hot water down a kid's throat basically drowning him and televanglists and Christian UA-camrs saying that meditation, yoga, witchcraft, the new age, the occult, and satanism are all bad/evil/satanic/demonic and that people did bad things in the devil even though there are cultic or extremist people like John List or even Mulism families who kill their families in the name of God or their own daughter for taking off her hijab!😡 Some claim that video games are evil, women shouldn't wear pants or gain positions of power, and that LGBTQ+ is a sin even though they can't be changed there are those who try through forcing them to get married to straight people or gay conversion therapy! >:O The Christian bus driver at my high school told that when King Saul drove out all necromancers and magicians from Israel she said that he killed them which I didn't believe that for The Bible says thou shall not kill and bus driver it's ok to kill if God says it's ok to kill and when I've talked about this to Monmouth Worship Center they've just said they are evil people! >:O I was like it's that how religious fanatics like terrorists, religious killers, and corrupt clergy members (like a pastor who abused by his mom and ended up killing prostitutes) think?! >:O Even though I'm a Catholic Christian I just feel like there should be more rational thinking among religious people for even with all the right things going on with them there like them saying they love me and Isabella's parents giving rides to church, giving me a The Bible DVD, Holy Bible, and money for Chinese New Year, are still so many wrong things going on with them too like them having this look of fear on their faces when it comes to Satanism, occultism, polytheism, atheism, new age, Santeria (like some missionaries at Monmouth Worship Center said that during their trip to Brazil where people pushed wooden toys into the sea as a dedication to Yemọja (The Yoruba goddess of the sea) they felt spiritual darkness (negative influence from negative spirits which I believe they confuse that with their own fears) and you've all got to understand that Monmouth Worship center didn't cause my psychological problems but rather they tried to fix it with a baptism and exorcism prayers!>:O😡 With my anger control issues, I've always thought and felt like wanting to control everything and religion wants to change and control people's lives just what Evangelical Christians try to with being born again and what the Mormons try to with burying your old testimony for your new testimony! >:O Some of the thing that Protestant UA-camr Christians say is truthful yet also hypocritical like how to criticize The Catholic Church's pedophilic priesthood in order to demonize the Catholic Church yet are pastors who are pedophiles too and that they criticize the way that Muslim husbands mistreat their wives in order to demonize Islam even though there are Christian husbands who mistreat their wives too! >:O Finally there are some Evangelical churches who talk about Jezebel, Leviathan, Kundalini, Python, and Marine Spirits which are forms of demonic possessions but they don't exist in the bible and they refuted by other Christians with that same reason! :P >:O If I can describe the problems of cults in two words they would be control and justification! >:O
Decipher Code it's Actually a good book as far as literature goes. It's not science fiction either. science shouldn't be used in the same sentence as the bible. it doesn't explain how the earth and other planets orbit the sun. up until 400-500 years ago people thought everything, including the sun and stars, orbited the earth.. The flat earth. unfortunately, there's still an estimated 50,000 people who believe the Earth is flat. amazing! And actually it's probably more than that. kids read this shit on the internet and actually start to believe that NASA, the ESA, and VAS (among others) are lying to them, trying to deceive them, for some yet unknown reason. It's crazy. The bible causes a lot of ignorance, but it's still an important part of history.
Gage Wilkinson There is no assumption of any supernatural force, I am a Wiccan as well and Witchcraft works every single time I use it. So it's not based on assumption, it's based on trail and evidence.
I could never figure out the logic behind the expression: "Jesus died to save us (from our sins)". So if he chose not to die would that mean we wouldn't be sinners any more or the other way round??
jmboyd65 Why do they hate it when we question? Whats going on in their heads that makes them mad? Why does my penis get hard when i eat plastic? Is jesus white or black? Why cant jesus be asian? Why is their a cult based on a fictional book written hundreds of years after the events said to have taken place in it? Why are sins rooted in the things that make us human or bring us joy?
Oh this logic doesn't make sense. I break this down. Old Testament: All human's sinned because adam and eve for that. God wanted A sacrifice to cover the sin in blood of a chosen animal. So if Jesus didn't got to cross then we still be doing this old ass blood sacrifice shit. In short we still be sinners, but we would have go threw a lot more hoops to stay saved and not just prayer.
deamonunix Why must people be so tied to their views they hate anything different? Why do i get mad when i have conversations in my head? Why don't christians know chemistry? Why am i considered black even though i have white skin and a south african heritage? Why does my mother make fun of me when i ask how asians are made? Where can i shit on a book(it sounds fun)? Why are things only illegal if you get caught?
I am 'religious' and... I agree with every point in this video. You all thought I was going to call Hemant a sinner and is going to hell, didn't you? God wants us to accept Jesus into our hearts, not our minds. The Nazis knew in their minds who Jesus was, but not in their hearts. The new testament says that he who loves his fellow man has God within him, but he who hateth their neighbor does not love God. Hemant, I believe that you are a prime example of what God wants from us: to be good and kind, and to have a critical eye towards all things. For the record, I'm an gnostic, which is different from agnostic.
I’m a Wiccan, living with my very Christian parents, and I agree with all of this, I always knew something was up when churches asked for money, no one had critical thinking. It just seemed wrong. I was trapped into it for a while, until I started questioning things, my eyes opened up way more and even my parents asked me why I don’t believe in god. I simply responded “I have no evidence to believe in him, so why should I“ he never answered when I used to pray, and I felt no connection. But Wicca has changed my life, and I feel more connected than ever with things my parents would call “satan” such as chakras, mantras, herbal medicine and even just talking with myself” they still push it on me and put symbols of their religion into my spaces and still try to get me to come back. After everything I’ve experienced with Wicca, I can assure you I’m never going back🖤 I just hope they’ll be able to see what I say someday
Unfortunately come Christians think that mental illnesses are a punishment from God too.
it's sad. She's one of the reasons I'm interested in psychology. She inspires me.
+Chloe It is
martin martinez it is what?
That's because the devil can tempt you in your mind. The trick is to not think but to be led by the Holy spirit. God is good all the time.
+Autumn Coker Shitty parents, bro.
QZ Sue
Where does it say that? The Bible says to love everyone as we love ourselves, sinner or not. The Bible doesn't say we should break friendships with people of different beliefs. Well, what you say does apply when it comes to marriage. But not friendships.
Give a man a fish he eats for a day.
Teach a man how to fish he will eat for a lifetime.
Give a man religion, he will die praying for fish.
Always take two Mormons fishing with you. If you invite one, he will drink all your beer.
agreed.
@Sharon Cinna You need two so they can watch each other. Once they are separated from their cult, they tend to turn into Jack Mormons. Jack Mormons talk the talk, but don't really walk the walk, if you know what I mean.
@Sharon Cinna Don't feel bad it's not a joke, it's an atheist comment. The two are completely different.
Jesus said to peter "just pray........" nah thats not how it works. peter worked for his Fish, Jesus told him to
I'm just so grateful my evangelical parents accept me being atheist, they're the best :)
Me too.
+SANflix agreed
My parents are Jehovah's Witnesses, and I'm scared to tell them I'm an atheist. Not coming out is holding me back from doing stuff I want to do, like starting an atheist club for my school.
hold on youv made a mistake.MY PARENTS ARE THE BEST !
Michael Dixon You realy think that shit is true i bet you didnt pass science class
A patient survived an injury by a nurse, *thanks god for surviving*
no god saved her not the doctor (jk)
+Lin Andy I would also.
Just because she thanked God doesn't mean she didn't thank the nurse also. Just to let you know you can thank more than one person, which I assume she did. There's really no reason to accuse someone like that.
if i was a doctor and I heard the patient that I healed say Thank God, i'd be pissed
KAMUI
The first men to raise the idea of religion were geniuses in my opinion; devious and immoral geniuses, granted... but even still. It's a completely full-proof way to dominate over the ignorant. Think of the number of countries in which the church was even above the law in most cases at certain points in history. Religion has also helped to dominate over women and convince society that women's submission is not only mandatory by order of a higher power, but commonplace amongst the community.
ZiN My exact thoughts
"Man becomes aware of the Sacred because it manifests itself, shows itself, as something wholly different from the Profane."
"To whatever degree he may have desacralized the world, the man who has made his choice in favor of a profane life never succeeds in completely doing away with religious behavior."
Mircea Eliade
@@TheGeneralGrievous19 philosophy has no clean cut answer for things and doesn't necessarily give any "yes to this" and "no to that" responses. I feel I need to say this, but natural science didn't disprove religion, and it's goal isn't to do so. See this is the thing I have trouble understanding. Some of you who are religious are fine with others differing in what religion they follow, yet when someone says they don't believe in anything you end up treating them as though they're in a crisis? What?
Remember kids, Science flies you to the moon, religion into buildings
Good one xD
Fantastic :P
Well put my friend.
Love it
Is this a 9/11 joke? If not, I don't get it lol
I like the following argument:
Man A: "God, please save me from my sinking boat"
Man on canoe: "Hey, jump on my canoe!"
Man A: "That's okay, I prayed and God will save me"
Man A: "God, my boat is sinking even more! Please save me!"
Man on speed boat: "Hey, jump on my speed boat!"
Man A: "That's okay, I prayed and I have faith God will save me"
Man A: "God, my boat is sunk and I can't swim for much longer. Please, save me!"
Man in helicopter: "Hey, grab the ladder to my helicopter!"
Man A: "That's okay, I prayed and I know God won't let me die. He will save me"
Man A dies and goes to heaven.
Man A: "God, I prayed and prayed and you did nothing to save me!"
God: "Let's see, I sent you a man on a canoe, a man on a speed boat, and a man in a helicopter. What more did you want?"
Not saying that I'm a religious person or believe in god, but I feel like this story accurately represents a lot of religious people.
Lol, that's a good one.
good one !
Gee God isn't granting those 3 people all that much free will now is he
nice
True.
I have a problem when pastors are getting rich by the people who come to church that are poor.
my mom is forcing me to go to church school this year, I honestly can not act like I care...that's what I want to avoid ..... hypocrisy
BTW they told me having protective sex is a sin, just like being sterile is one because you have to accept the gifts "god" gives you
+Stephanie Sanchez Just tell her the truth. I did and my mom can't force me to go to church anymore. It was hard the first few months, she's going to think you're evil or something is wrong with you, but eventually she'll realize you're the same as you've always been. It as worth it.
+Chris V was*
Chris V I did! She said when I turn 18 she'll support me, right now I don't know and I have to follow whatever she commands
+Stephanie Sanchez Well at least you told her. That's a big step.
Thank you, good sir. Not many Christians I know are accepting of my beliefs. Let there be peace.
Welcome to the club !!!
Well do you believe that we are not the only intelligent life in the universe
I agree with you.
Yea, if it brings you peace, no one’s stopping you!
I was crying all the way to the morgue when we had to leave him there
What a "LOAD"!!!
Who are you trying to kid???
That's child neglect and it resulted in the death of the child
@@jimhappnin1425 do you know this guy?
That's technically a murder
One of the kids in my grade, last year, killed himself. 5 weeks later (yes. 5 WEEKS) we had a guidance counselor come in and the one of the first things she said was “I guess, it was just apart of gods plan”
I swear I was ready to stand up and start a fight. Suicide or having suicidal tendencies is my god’s plan and never EVER think of it that way.
EarlGreyCosplays
If that was god's plan then god is a messed up being.
If I shoot her, is that part of God's plan?😡
"its gods plan" sounds like he wants us gone
How can people accept medicine, when they believe in God ? let God handle it for you.....right ?
u sarcastic right
+Legacy Hunter yup
Totally agree. If you believe in god and use medicine, you show a lack of faith. it is hypocritical cherry picking
But if you could vote to make a law on whether abortion was okay for others, how would you vote? so to say that you wouldn't impose your beliefs on how this is bull crap unless you could say you would vote against such law.
and if God's plan is more powerful than medicine then why take the medicine? see your response is not a rational response it's one that tries to be rational, but Falls flat when logic is applied. if you take medicine then you show a lack of faith and doubt. no other way around it
i wish i could create an atheist country...
move to China or Vietnam or any communist country.
Bobby Wang but those countries are horrible places to live
Tecnically, Brazil, where I live, is an atheist country, since there is no official religion.
Robert Ingrao science would go far.
I'd go there! Also, a lot of Japan is atheist but in a strange way. You should look it up it's interesting!
"After coming into contact with a religious man I always feel I must wash my hands." -Friedrich Nietzsche
"Self-righteous idiots?" "Call others stupid?"
First, I don't name call anybody unless they really, REALLY deserve it, and you basically just called me an "idiot" based on no information about me other than my lack of religious belief.
You said "It is so damn hard to find atheists who aren't self-righteous idiots."
I am an atheist, so that implies you were calling me a "self-righteous idiot." I don't appreciate that. (Actually, I'm kind of indifferent about the "self-righteous" part, but I'm definitely upset about the "idiot" part.)
And now you claim that you "didn't call anyone an idiot because of their lack of religious belief." Then, what?
(And I hope the last.)
I haven't seen any of the things you accuse atheists of being.
That's not to say that an atheist can't be violent for other reasons, but when we have violence in our hearts, it doesn't stem from our penchant for "spiritual skepticism."
And secondly, whereas the first words of yours I ever read were an insult against atheists ("self-righteous idiots"), atheists don't resort to name calling.
Good day.
I could imagine the 770 dislikes are from religious people
Thats cool
"Oh shit, you hear that?"
*click click click*
"It's the sounds of stupid christians getting triggered"
The Triggerer 😐
Not funny
Good one
It's harmful when it makes you think you can't know more than you already did. Oh wait...
It's also harmful if it encourages hypocritically selective disabling of critical thinking, all while insisting that others should question everything, as well as other double standards.
Another way to know whether it's harmful is if it forces you to equate the subjectivity of limited collections of knowledge with omniscience. Denying stuff when they don't fit the unfalsifiable heap of information mistaken as reality
If it makes you unable to think from other's perspective, or limit it to strawman versions, then it may also be harmful
My loving Christian parents gave birth to my sister, an atheist at the moment. And what do they do? Love her unconditionally. This is the example you should follow no matter what your beliefs. If you can't love those in your life now, why do you exist?
Yes this is how my parents are and its wonderful c:
Amen. Joking. This is also how I feel. I dont feel religion(or lack of) should define the person. It should be the morales and the ethics of that person.
This is my exact case and I agree that this is how it should be.
Henry Gregory The problem is that this moral or ethical attitude can be influenced by a religious dogma. And this is bad. Like really bad.
Alien 1: Hey, remember how Bob went down to earth dressed as a human and healed random sick people
Alien 2: lol yea
Alien 1: Well 2019 years later, they are still worshiping bob
Alien 2: Haha no way... Shouldn't they be smarter?
Alien 1: guess not
AppleRain 🤣
Believing in aliens is just as ridiculous as believing in God
Lol
Okurin Gaming not really but sure. the idea of them being here on earth is pretty unlikely, but there definitely is some life out there in the universe.
Okurin Gaming its statistically improbable that there are no other intelligent lifeforms in the universe
My sexuality was something i was born with but you were taught religion... who is the "broken" one now?
Dont listen to religious people, most of them are homophobics. They dislike same-sex.Be yourself, love the "person" you loved. We dont love the gender, but the person
I belong to a religion which has all 8 of these things. I've put so much thought into my own beliefs & actually used "critical thinking", and realized that a lot of things just don't add up.. I don't want to belong there anymore. Trying to leave my religion, however, might be the hardest thing I'll ever do in my entire life. And I'm only 16... it's kind of scary just thinking about how much my life would change if I left. What do I do?...
Cyn C if you want to leave you just declare in your mind that you leave and there you go you left the religion
Just leave
Cyn C leave it. You'll be very happy
Well I'm 14, I've been an atheist since 12
Skip going to church for a bit and see how you do.
I'm glad he was cool
British society became more racist in mid century,[28] but Darwin remained strongly against slavery, against "ranking the so-called races of man as distinct species", and against ill-treatment of native people.
BEST. VIDEO. EVER!!!! No truer words have ever been spoken!!
Amen to that! (the hipocracy, I know)
James George Gods not dead he is surely alive!
Fad Fudge I agree he's not dead, how could he die if he never existed in the first place?
And the dislikes are unironically 666
+Adrian Perez Now its 667, too bad I missed it :(
If you're atheist why would you care.
Has nothing to do with being an atheist or not
And also dont like your own comments
Its like s dog licking his own balls when people do that
Satan disliked this video.
@The Gaytheist I'm an atheist but Satan was not mentioned once in Genesis (when eve met the snake) Bible just says "the snake." Doesn't have anything to do with this convo but just wanted to throw this out.
"If everything is part of God's master plan, then what the **** are you praying for?"
Yeah soo god doe'st give a fuck apperently
That's literally not free choice because if hell is real nobody would want to go there.
i agree with this guy 100%
me too atheism agnosticism literally saved my life
The only difference between religion and delusion is the sound of the words.
Only if you're a bigot.
Really?
You want religious people to respect your disbelief but you can't respect their choice to believe.
Automatically subed :)
I used to be a Catholic...
They only say that because they think that it's their fault for not raising you "properly", and they take it out on you.
eL CHiVaTo At what terms you become an atheist then? Nah you are just lazy to go to church and you are a materialistic person. It is safer to believe in God than to know that there is really an INVISIBLE INTELLIGENT BEING out there.
I'm so sorry for you man
maybe if all the religious people stopped using medicine since prayer apparently is the key, they'd eventually all die out. sounds bad, but ya know.
Why did I laugh??
* pours holy water on face *
I'm sorry god.
I mean, I would be, if you existed
Then religion will be over?
According to judaism, your life is FAR more important than religion and if you are sick in sabath you should go to the hospital right away
That's why I respect judaism
Martin Garcia wow! I wished Christianity is the same. You know, the most dominant religion there is that believe in stoning lgbt to death. The religion that promotes the book of evil and their morals revolve around it, nothing else.
That's because the preservation of life is one of the most importants precepts.
That's completely true. Our Rabbi told my mom she needed to eat during Yom Kippur when she was really sick. He said God would not punish her for taking care of her health.
Except Judaism teaches you are gods chosen tribe, and all outsiders are the enemy
@@FlattyMchesterson Just for the record, that stoning tradition came from the Jewish Torah...
I live in Singapore and I want to add a number 9 to the list.
No.9: Your religion is harmful when your rituals causes air-pollution that risks the lives of those with respiratory illnesses. Seriously, does the offerings for the dead worth risking the lives of the living?
Mikeferdy I live in Singapore too, and the other night I smelt something burning, and it was these kids who were "praying"
What the fuck are they doing in Singapore? These vague descriptions disgust and concern me a bit.
The nail in the coffin is critical thinking. Part of the reason it is taboo amongst many people to criticize religions. You can do it to anyone elses, just not yours...
I am a Christian and I hate prosperity gospel. It's not the Gospel, it gives a false image of the Bible and our relationship to Him.
If a Jehovahs Witness willingly takes a blood transfusion:
1: They will be "Disfellowshiped" (There are some shades of grey when it comes to disfelowshiping)
2:There family is allowed to talk to them if there is a Family Issue.
5: Its a DANGEROUS religion
holy crap O.O
What's the matter with blood transfusions, though? Is it "oh you showed lack of faith because you chose a blood transfusion when you know a little praying would* have worked just as well." Is that it?
* wouldn't necessarily.
Reason #8 is why I'm atheist.
Favorite quote from this video: "No one has to repent for just being human." Way to go, Hemant! :)
It's so nice to know that there are sane people out there. Thanks for this.
Beautiful - live for the certainty of THIS life - not for the doubtful promise of the next
im hindu, but this guy makes a lot of sense... hes in with reality....
You should try Buddhism then. It teaches a lot about critical thinking and unlike other religions there is no deity in Buddhism. Instead of worshiping someone of the highest power Buddhism emphasis on self-reliance.
I think they offer good philosophies.
I appreciate this.. I will certainly check it out and read up more on Buddhism, thank you.
I love how you casually mentioned mental sickness as well when talking about being ill. Many people pretend it isn't an issue
This is pretty much describing every religion :P
every religious is pretty much the same except for the God they pray to
Na not every
buddhist is different doe
Choose an answer.
A."Knives are good, because people have survived because of them."
B."Knives are evil, because people get killed from them."
Neither is true, because the knife is dependant upon the user.
Choose again.
A."Religion is bad, because people kill for it."
B."Religion is good, because people make charities because of it."
Still, neither is true, because religion is dependant upon the believer.
I'm not religious, but I agree with you there.
I dislike religion as a whole. But this comment made me think twice.
Nothing is truely good or bad, even something designed to kill, like a Gun, can be used to help others, scaring a criminal, stopping a robbery ect. And even something designed for good, a Car, for example, can run people over, cause accidents, ect.
knives are good because they help you cut pizza easily.
I am ex-muslim and i consider that we need more and more people like. thank you for such advice you give. enjoyed pretty much.
Interesting!
Loved this...point after point made and explained. Like a hammer breaking down the wall of religion!
OMG yes! When ppl tell me to "just have faith" I cringe lol :(
Recently I learnt that someone I used to care a lot about converted to Christianity.
Why would you care about their beliefs ???
Did you try to open your so called third eye?
The modern new age christian basically thinks logical but uses GOD as comfort, support and hope because they're terrified of losing control, hell and the unknown. Might never go to church but on easter & christmas.
when someone speaks to his imaginary friend he's crazy
when more people speak to their imaginary friend it's a religion
When someone rejects his earthly father, he's called rebellious.
When someone rejects his Creator, he's called an atheist.
ChinyUzzz Uh..... burn?
I like how this video beats down Christianity so subtly
Subtly? wow... im not sure we watched the same video. I would be super offended, and some of them are judging by the comments. he wasn't subtle.
Religion makes your life like hell but in science it makes your life like heaven
Me: *helps my friend with his school project
Friend: Thank God!
Me: ...
This stuff is just SO good! Hemant, humanity owes you a gold medal and eternal gratitude.
Charizardinho Gamer omg I'm sorry to hear that :(
i think i will be okay if i just dont talk about it
Charizardinho Gamer you should have asked her if she was made from a rib.
I'd laugh at that.
Welcome to real world (but im still sorry for that) Welcome to world of sience. But realy dont believe in their crap religion is trash
I have watched almost all of your videos, but this one has certainly got to be one of the best you have ever done!
239 people hunted and gathered for dinner.
I was called a racist for saying that Jesus wasn't white
The actual fuck 😂
I love my Wiccan life. ^^
There is basically ONE ground rule:
*If it harms none, do what you will*
Long time atheist/freethinker science and history nut lol. LOVE your videos....keep up the good work!!!!!
Absolutely I mean it's all common sense he's absolutely right
I would love to smoke a blunt and have a conversation with this guy.
OfficialPinkaMenaX
but can we do it.
Yeah the placebo effect is a very interesting topic. You really got to wonder how it works.
2:18 So what if 'your soul is in jeopardy'? They won't allow a 'soul in jeopardy' back into the house?! So what are they doing with their Christianity exactly?
As a victim of indoctrination this guy is always 100% spot on!!!!
0:53 yup....
1 Timothy 2:12 - I do not permit a woman to teach or assume authority over a man; she must be quite
1 Corinthians 14:34 - Let your women be silent in assemblies, for they are not allowed to speak, but to be in subjection, just as the Written Law also says
Chris P Bacon : Allegory!!!!
ChinyUzzz Phelan And even if there is evidence for gods existence, that in no way means it's the christian god.
I agree with point #4 as well. Imagine how many families in poverty could be fed with all of the money that is invested in all of these churches and pastors.
Scientology at least has LVL-up system.
yea but it has alot of pay 2 win dlc's :D
yeah but its like a time-share contract that you can't get out of.
We are all broken and emotionally traumatized we all need prayer, and laughs --thanks for the laughs...
Pray to Shrek. That is the real God brother.
+N.K. Revolution I was only nine years old...
Hemmens Metta
Ur totally Awesome dude
From you I was totally delivered from religion
And god and gods
And a FALSE satan
Thanks to your video's
I saved myself
I'm now a full blown Atheist
How Awesome
You're not a dick, that's a pretty big step in the right direction, but you still miss the point entirely.
Dickbeard the Merciless and what that might be...
SteelCity1981 People aren't atheists out of personal preference or because of feelings. No version of god has ever met its burden of proof and atheism is simply accepting that fact.
You're still going to hell. Failure to convert atheists/other religious people is an automatic condemnation to hell. You must follow all scripture.
JustATotalNerd Can you prove it?
I believe in God and Jesus and the Bible but I do not support the mistreatment of gay, lesbian, women or other races. In my eyes and God's they are all the same; amazing Human beings.
I agree!
Then why does the bible say slavery is OK?
It does?
TVBnine yes it does, do a google search.
Max De Costa Or he just read the bible and find the passages.
Forgot the biggie ! When politics becomes a religious issue and you are told to vote a certain way. Leave that Church and report it to the IRS...
All relligions are bad doesn't matter you follow western relligions or eastern relligions.
Damn, I wish every religious person will watch this video.
They are doing so, there are alot of failed conversion arguments and morality arguments in the recente comments secction
If they don't take it as an attack on them, witch often happens. But it can also lead to you to watch more and more videos, to do more research.

Sin is a concept... like death, and pain, and suffering, and hurt, and everything bad in the world is a concept.
+ShakinJamacian Yep.. and you can't be sure if you're actually a living being (with a body and a soul), because you can't remember if you ate the blue or red pill...
nathanyamaha465
But you do understand that "sin" is a religious concept?
That boys hairline is exactly like god....imaginary
Lol.
Some atheists are just as self-righteous and proselytizing as the fundamentalist religious people they criticize.
those people should have just asked you. im an atheist but i dont disrespect a religion.
if people just had a conversation about it the world would be a happier place.
sportsmed77
I don't think you are stupid, just wrong.
sportsmed77 as an atheist...
I do respect other people, no matter what religion they are part of, but i have my opinions about your religion.
Those are just jerks tho, ignore them.
sportsmed77 just know that when he's talking he's been judged by religious people doesn't mean that he's talking for all people, just how atheist aren't all judgy over religion
maple syrup is thicker than blood and water, so food is more important than family
One of my best friends has a religion that says it is forbidden to eat pork. She takes that seriously, she has never eaten salami! Once I asked her the reason for that, she replied "because it is impure". I asked her why again and she simply did not find any argument, not even a laughable one.
yes I have to go to the hospital so God can perform a miracle lol
I love your non adversarial and matter of fact approach :)
STOP THE MONEY AND RELIGION WILL GO AWAY..I GUARANTEE IT
How will you explain the deeds of the first apostles? The government was against them. They were castaway by the society. Even their families betrayed them- they were enemies of everyone. And still they chose to follow Christ's teaching. Was that money? What was that?
Vita Karkauskaitė
Delusion? Do we have to mention Jonestown or Heavens Gate to show what delusion can do?
hogfather22 Why do you change the topic mentioning some sects if what we've been talking about was "religion"? Not denominations. Give me a proper example.
***** What do you call ignorance? The way first Christians acted?
I rather go shopping than read a stupid science fiction book, called the Bible, so dumb that book!
It's a good fiction book
Decipher Code no read the bible, many christians that actually read the entire bible turned atheist or dont take the bible literally anymore
+Josh Traffanstedt Correct
Decipher Code the bible is a philosophy. A pretty bad one tho
Trying to make sense of fiction is a losing battle.
yay my religion does none of the 8 things! (I'm Wiccan)
Assumption of any external supernatural force without very good evidence fits snugly within the "Encourages you to distrust reality" framework.
Gage Wilkinson There is no assumption of any supernatural force, I am a Wiccan as well and Witchcraft works every single time I use it. So it's not based on assumption, it's based on trail and evidence.
Glen CoCo How can I learn about it?
Did no one see see my comment?
Kate I did. I was responding to the person saying Witchcraft works every single time. How does one learn about that?
I could never figure out the logic behind the expression: "Jesus died to save us (from our sins)". So if he chose not to die would that mean we wouldn't be sinners any more or the other way round??
Don't question. They hate that.
jmboyd65 Why do they hate it when we question?
In short we still be sinners, but we would have go threw a lot more hoops to stay saved and not just prayer.
jmboyd65 Assuming such things only works on idiots who say there christian and don't walk the walk, but just talk the talk.
deamonunix Why must people be so tied to their views they hate anything different?
I wouldn't describe hemant as good or kind. He acts egocentric, self-righteous, and prejudice.
Deli Cheese Sensitive ehh? He is very intelligent.
Zak Smith
lol, he doesn't sound very intelligent to me.
Then don't watch his videos dip shit. Nobody cares what you think he sounds like.
Zak Smith
You're the one who sounds sensitive man :p
Your standards for intelligence must be really low.
