Really appreciate you being open about this. I was vegan for a few years then vegetarian for 12 years, also for ethical reasons. Those ethical reasons are still important to me so I started eating fish but only what I caught. Then I became inspired by a friend that runs ultramarathons that only eats meat and fruit. I did that for maybe 6 months last year and gains in the gym and fat loss just went crazy. I also eat rice now and a lot of raw honey and maple syrup since my running mileage has been going up. But sticking to whole foods and getting protein mostly from grass fed beef has improved my health more than I would have believed. I've only been running for 2 years but just started doing races. Doing a 5k on Friday, a trail half marathon in April then I'll decide my plan for training for an ultra. I also backpack and I've been doing shorter long distance hikes like the tahoe rim last year and the john muir trail this year so thats got to fit in my schedule for the summer haha. I finished both of those in about half the time people usually do them so thats probably also why ultra running resonates with me. I never leave comments like this but seeing content like yours makes me realize theres people I could look up to that have similar experiences and also have extroardinary goals
Way to go! Thank you for sharing your experience. 12 years is a long time to commit to something, so kudos to you for making a health decision that feels best for you ❤
I just love and connect with your perspective on food/fuel so much!! Have gone through a very similar experience. I live in Colorado near the foothills and am struggling to fully recover from a foot surgery I had last year. I am slowly starting to hike and run again. Was plant based for many years but just not recovering well after surgery led me to adding back animal protein and I’m starting to get my energy back! Thank you so much Amanda for sharing and being honest and vulnerable!!! You are such a light!!❤❤❤
YES! 🔥Loved so much seeing more on diet and fueling, would always love to see more for meal inspiration. I struggle a lot with fueling for my performance, and particularly getting enough fats in, so it was so awesome to see some good meal ideas 😊
Thank you so so much! I would love to share this ❤ I’m a work in progress + still learning so much. If this is something others want to see, I’d love to chat about it!
Lovedddd this vlog!! I’m a registered dietitian and love how you approached this full day of eating. I also just loved how dynamic it was with your full day of activities. ❤
No microwave gang!!! We don’t use one either and haven’t for around 5 years 🥰 so awesome seeing your videos pop up on my recommended page my sweet friend 🌟🤎
Hey girl, hey!!!! thank you so much for commenting + watching. I love seeing you and your family create such a healthy environment and connection to the food you share. it is SO beautiful! ♥️
Wow...I was the same way with animal meat when I was younger. When the Paleo movement started I grabbed a book that was authored by Loren Cordain and Nell Stephenson, which she was a triathlete. Started eating venison and my energy levels went up.
tbh i loved how sporadic this video was because that’s pretty realistic for my day to day and good to see you getting lots of snacks in instead of just skipping a meal! how do you have the appetite to eat enough for your activity? as i’m transitioning to working with a nutritionist to make sure i’m fueling well and enough i realize that i’m struggling with having a big enough appetite!
Thank you so much!! Honestly, my appetite fluctuates with my activity level! So I don’t have too big of an issue there! But picking higher caloric content snacks like I showed is a good way to ensure I’m getting enough in! ❤❤
I would live to hear about your heat and cold therapy for injuries and recovery. I have that same sauna and love it, but probably need to get in a better more thoughtful routine with it and my cold plunges Thank you for this real what you eat in a day video. My days are never the same
As a vegan I also want to thank you for sharing your story. It is of course Your story and still, many people will use it as theirs, and use it to promote their own arguments; it is how things work for many people, since they do very little work ans thinking about their food and life choices. I was never healthier and stronger, being vegan and all the arguments made here, for eating meat; I can repeat for my own case. So, one anecdote for one anecdote. Many, many things can be made into food for humans, so our personal choices are sort if irrelevant. You can survive on flour and margerine for a very long time. Yet, there are bigger questions at stake, than personal references and we as priviliged(sorry for the spelling here)westerners need to consider. Eniviromental impacts being my personal favorite; meat and diary is simply killing our planet through it's production and we need to adress this also. So, as long as I can lift heavy, run the trails, swim and do crossfit on a daily basis, with the smallest impact on Mother Nature, I actual feel like a better person, than having to include animal products in my food.
Thank you for your kind response. Others can follow in your example of compassion disagreement. Though we have differences in our personal choices, I really respect your input + approach to sharing this comment. Much love to you + I’m so happy you’re feeling great with the choices you’re making for your health and beyond. ❤
Thoughts on the Venison Tomahawk steaks? I tried them… must have overcooked them (even though I temped them) because they were tough and chewy. Sticking with the ground blends for now! Love their products!
Moved to eating meat back after 5 years vegan. My body did not agree with that for sure. Had to change mindset and way of thinking about using animals as source of food. Very good channel !
I became vegetarian at 15...not for ethical reasons like you but simply because I knew I could eat a salad for every meal and have an excuse to tell people. Through an ED and diagnosis of thyroid disease, I still didn't care. Now, as a college athlete, I just started eating white meat a month ago. I've slowly increased my fat and calories to try and reach healthy hormones again. Thank you for sharing your story with people like me - who need to know that there is a brighter healthier side.

That’s so interesting!! I like to think if I eat elk, I’ll be more like an elk! 😅 strong and fast!

HIGHLY recommend DRY NEEDLEing for IT band issues (also Hams and Calves too!)

Loved this video! What pans do you use?
Thank you!!! We actually got new ones after this video haha! We got the Green Pan Ceramic / Aluminum combo! a.co/d/daDEjGG
Any ITB exercises that your recommend, maybe you can add it to your next video please ❤️.
I'm struggling with the same issue after my first marathon.
what camera / lens do you use? great quality
This is a combo of cameras + lenses but all are Sony Alpha fam!
I’m just getting into running and I’m struggling with this colder weather. Any tips when it comes to breathing in that colder air? It burns lol
I’ll be posting a video about winter gear : running soon !
@@JustMissAmanda perfectttt! Thank you 😊
What brand is that jacket you are wearing for the run? Looks awesome!
It’s actually Specialized cycling jacket!!
👍
Looks like timp in the background !
Do you eat raw dairy like raw cheese and milk as I'm lactose free and the raw dairy hasn't gone through processed
I cannot!! I have a dairy allergy, so even lactose free stuff still crushes me!
It's good to see another athlete have the right perspective when it comes to meat and animal fat.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I see ex vegan and I click ❤️
🤍🤍🤍
It’s not ex-vegan it’s ex-plant based.
Isn’t it cool that we live in a world with freedom of opinion, expression, and speech 👏🏽
@@JustMissAmanda I mean, did you stop caring about the animals?
