The skill and experience required to confidently trim and bevel the sole on someone's cherished boots, freehand, blows my mind. One nick to the upper and it's over!
Brian....wow!!! That was so neat to watch! There is a lot of skill and artistry in what you do. So glad I bumped into this video. I will look for more of your stuff if it is out there.
Hello from Ireland. The maddest thing is I have a pair of red wing chukkas (no bs) that I bought stateside 10 years ago and the sole has just come away from the upper in the last couple of days. And to think I just stumbled on your video by accident. Think I'll just glue them though. No chance of getting a cobbler around here to do a job like you did!
Greetings from Morelia, MX!! It's such a pleasure to see how yu treat leather: with the love thath a few feel for its beloved belongings!! Really enjoy your vids man!
Amazing to watch. I really wish I had stuck at shoe repairs when I was a teenager. I got the sack for cutting the sole leather the wrong way. The knife slipped off the leather and through my wrist in front of a customer! Blood everywhere!!
Brian, those are my favorite boots. One Stop Shoes in Lafayette, CA just did mine, again, 3rd sole! I chose that Christie sole over the standard hard foam. Maybe i'll drop by for a visit next time we are in your town. Where are you? Did the overalls too!
Can you give up the secret for removing the soles from welt? I just did an old pair of Danner boots when I removed the sole it destroyed the welt I replaced the welt with 2 layers veg tan 9oz leather hand stitched no fun. I still have another pair to do. Danner uses incredible glue.
Hi Brian, i wonder what material do you use for the exterior insole which connects the outsole and the cork-filling? I've heard that people are using white-color PVC piece.
I've been watching your videos for the past week and it seems like you do some real quality work. I had a question. I have a pair of Wolverine 1000 Mile's in Cordovan that are absolutely beautiful boots, but they have zero traction due to the leather sole. Would I be able to send them to you in the near future to have something like a lugged outsole retrofitted on them?
Unfortunately Red Wing doesn't really offer boots which fit my feet. My actual work boots are a 12 4E and RW's H (wider than 4E) wouldn't fit me. Plus I already have the $380 1000 mile's. I've been in contact with Brian and hope to deal with him soon.
Wish you said how much it cost to have done, entertaining to watch but without a price or having to reach out to you for a price it isn't functional to me.
@@calholli Its up to the customer exactly what he wants to do, so he removed it because they asked him to not because he's greedy, ask before making assumptions.
I am very happy that there are still skilled craftsmen in the U.S.A and the world! You have a new subscriber!
There's a definite there therapeutic quality about watching these videos!

Nice video! I have a question: What kind of sole do you use in this boot?

You got all that from a sound effect?
@@calholli You know what you meant.
IMO your work is impressive and engaging enough on its own in the video, and the music actually detracts from the video.
Can this be done on the Clark Desert Boot? If so, what would be the cost?

One day he was shining shoes, the next day he was making them. Only in America can your dreams come true.
I replaced the sole with a new original and regret it. Poor quality soles + poor wizard.
