Hell yes! You found it! BEST Treasure video EVER! ❤

Well done young men for retrieving all those beautiful items throughout your videos, the coffee whiskey bottle is gorgeous, what a gem. Thank you.
Tom and Jake, love your digs, love the low-key style. I find them really interesting and appreciate the information on screen. Stay safe, love from England.
I love the history you can find in an old privy hole. Please keep making the great content!
ah thank you! we intend on. thanks for the comment
Tom and Jake,
Cool video!!! I think that going from city to city doing research on each city before going to area and probing for privys and trash pits is such a fantastic way of learning history. Now after digging, you have to learn about everything that was dug up. Too bad school couldn't be taught that way, hands on. I bet you now know a lot more of North Dakota then beforehand? Enjoyed watching I just wish your videos were longer. Thanks for taking us along on your exploration. Take care.✌
yeah sometimes we just dont find a whole lot and cant really justify making the videos longer.. theres gonna be longer ones coming up, but we just already have a ton recorded, so we are trying to offload those ones before we release any newer ones.. and yeah that town of bellevue is only about 15 miles from my house, and i had never even heard of it until someone called us and ask us to check it out.. we actually get alot of requests to come dig, even before the we started the channel. and yeah i remember the first time i learned about these outhouse pits i was blown away, and from that point on, i was hooked on learning about the genesis of our little area in the upper midwest.. i wanted to know everything about what life was like, and the events that occurred to lead up to the creation of some of these towns, and eventually the downfall of many of these places.. makes me wonder whats still going to be around in another 150 years.. if everyone will have just migrated into the cities by that point and if people are wondering what out lives were like.. anyways! thanks for commenting as always, and thanks for watching
got to love those old privies.great video as always. stay safe,God bless.
thank you! we appreciate you watching and leaving us a comment
Спасибо за труды.
Рад что нашёл ваш канал.
Интересно и познавательно.
Удачи вам в дальнейшем!
Can't go wrong when you are finding bits of history. Watkins bottle still cool with strong embossing. Good luck on the next location.
ah thank you! yeah we plan on going back there.. it was just getting so late in the year. thank for watching
Great video thumbs 👍 up, really enjoying the time
By far my favourite Chanel on UA-cam 👌👌👌
Awesome! thank you, thats super nice! and we really appreciate you letting us know!
That sewing machine wheel was pretty cool. Definitely an old treadle machine with the groove in it for the leather belt. We have one that is late 1890's.
oh yeah i know.. we heard that a lady who lived there was a seamstress.. kinda cool to see these things connect back to the people who lived there on a personal level
Keep up the great teamwork guys! 😎😎
Thanks!
Always the very best channel.
Your my go to channel. Laundry looks like fun
oh wow! thank you!!! glad you like the channel!! thanks for watching and leaving us a comment. and yeah, sometimes i have to pre was my clothes with a garden hose before i put it in the wash.. its a nightmare
I love the whiskey flask with the small squares all over it. $25. plus shipping if your interested.
lol my friend who pulled it out really liked it so we just let him keep it.. sorry.. for what its worth, it was really cool, and thats the first and only one of those id ever seen
A dance hall! Quite scandalous at one time. Loved the simple Watkins bottle.
haha yeah its like that town from footloose! yeah find a ton of those watkins bottles.. they have kind of a long range of when they existed. oh yeah i have some soil with some seeds in it, i can work on sifting it in the next few days and mail those to you

@@BelowthePlains, I would buy that one from you in a heartbeat! I am enjoying your videos so much. I especially appreciate how much time, effort and research goes into the post filming re: text and graphics!! Terrific additions! Keep 'em comin"!!!
Got a mid 1700s permission. I need to start probing. Never tried before. I’ve found some good shards ontop of the ground while detecting. Thinking it could be a goldmine
Very ornate sewing machine wheel!
oh yeah i know.. thanks for watching
I'm always looking up these little places on a map so I can get my bearings of where you're digging.---I don't get squeemish when you dig privies, so don't know why this one was particularly disgusting to me.
hahaha yeah this one was pretty easy digging, unfortunately we didnt find a whole lot. going back there sometime, but i think the guy who owns it has a little garden where most of the town stood, so we are gonna go back in the fall maybe. its super close to grand forks, and thats the city we both live just outside of. thanks for the comment
Have you run into any unmarked cofins or caskets?
👍
I am interested in plate shards glass shards for projects I'm working on
umm. yeah i could totally get you some next time.. someone asked us for some and we saved up a whole bunch, but when i responded to them, they never messaged me back.. but yeah i can save you some shards.. are you doing a mosaic? just hit me up in the comments in like a few weeks and maybe i will have something for you! thanks for watching
Do you sell your plate shards or do you keep them or throw them away
umm.. id be willing to sell them.. i keep getting asked that question.. to be completely honest, id be willing to send them to someone for the cost of shipping.. we usually just rebury them, but i do like the idea of them going to somewhere that they will be loved. if you want any, just hit me up in the comments of our most recent video, otherwise i might not be able to see your response if you send a reply to me here.. its just really dumb how they have this set up, and when i get a reply to my reply, it doesnt notify me
@@BelowthePlains I would really love to have those shards and be glad to pay for the postage it's so great to be able to have a part of that history that I can make something with that's historical I just really love it thanks so much
@@BelowthePlains please save me some I am planning on doing several projects with it send me an address and I will mail the money to ship them I don't know how much it usually cost
Why were not any marbles found ?
Crap. Now I have a new hobby to get way to invested in to to likely not turn out anything like in this video. How do you know the spot to dig at? I'm in AZ and there are tons of abandoned structures
well.... first off you need to find an old location. you can go to loc.gov and type in the town name and "map" or "sanborn map" ..they were like fire insurance maps that were extremely accurate for the late 1800s/early 1900s.. so you pick a town lot that had a building on it, and somewhere behind that structure is the privy.. not too familiar with arizona soil but in all likelyhood the ground has depressed over the years.. so there should be a slight depression in the ground where the pit used too be.. if its a grassy area, sometimes the grass will the growing just slightly better than the grass around it.. you are gonna need a probe rod.. they are t shaped steel rods that you push into the ground... youre gonna have to probe the ground a lot, even where you dont think the pit was, just to get a feel for what the undisturbed ground feels like.. then when you hit the pit the ground will feel really soft.. so soft that the probe rod nearly sinks into the ground under its own weight.. the surface will feel like normal ground, but about a foot down it was get soft.. and just above that soft layer, you will feel a crunchy layer of ash.. they topped the pits with ash to kill the smell and the ash will be virtually unchanged to this day.. if you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask! and if you need a link to a place to buy a probe rod, lmk.. good luck!
what do you mean "the town was platted"?
thats a term for when before the town was a town.. it was just random land.. so when people started to move there, they drew the city blocks and lots on the blocks, on the land.. to define where the public roads and sidewalks would start and end, and where the land that people could buy would start, and end.. basically they just drew the city blocks on the land before people lived there.. its called a plat map.. a plain drawing of the rows and columns of blocks, and lots, that made up a town
@@BelowthePlains ohhh thanks, ive not heard the term before. Absolute fan guys, you are doing something I'd absolutely love to do so keep it up!
Classic watkins
yeah.. find alot of those!
