With all the talk of the big showdown in the TdF between the big riders, Roglic still needs to overcome his biggest historical issue....staying upright.
positioning is a very close 2nd to staying upright.

i think egan is up against much tougher competition this time around; he beat thomas in a tour with shortened stages and thomas told to hold back from chasing his team mate of course.

Hmm, in my opinion Remco was grandstanding in his attacks on Roglic - clearly trying to intimidate him psychologically and lay down a marker of his form a bit like Tadej did in Stade by soloing from 80 km out - there was no point other than telling the world you are definitely in the top 5 of the peloton.
Let’s see if Remco has the same form on the hard last two days. Roglic typically rides into form.
Remco just likes to race, he always rides like this, nothing to do with Roglic. Imo this why Algarve felt weird to me, since he waited for the sprint 2 times (2nd time maybe forced due to the gear mechanical).
Michael Mathews one of the old guard sprinters still right up there! We got to give him props for doing it on his own. Does he have any one to help lead him out?
Matthews us more than a sprinter. He allways good in hilly stages in pays basque. We're talking about someone that can still win something like Amstel Gold race and have a top 10 in LBL.
Pedersen is a beast to get such a weak lead out to the sprint and still almost hold it. His 30 second to 1 min power is just wild.
It’s going to take a long time to get used to seeing Roglic in green.

Yeah since he was only 10th and also the likes off Sam Bennett were still in the group but there legs were empty. I was surprised Kooij won this stage (that he got over those hills was the real wow) and Démare getting dropped in such a small hill was also weird. He's normally one off the sprinters that rides good over (small) hills.

the lotto boys should've rode if de lie got dropped they got a chance if he's still there he can just sit in. and remco would've pulled super hard for gc so that way lotto could've won. I mean not sure if they got away but could've been a chance.

Backing Remco. Roglic beat him in 2023 using smarts. I’m going to predict the balance of power shifts in Remco’s favour in 24.
Also, I’ll predict the BIG 4 in 2024 GC will be Vingegaard, Pogacar, Evenpoel & Ayuso by the year’s close. Ayuso emergence will be the narrative. The interesting thing will be what Red Bull /Bora do next… The potential RB investment sounds as though Ineos/Visma/UAE unless they get extra could have €10 million less in their budget per year. Perhaps Roglic will be the elder statesman of the RB project rather than le grand boucle victor?

Roglic was in Remco's wheel and had to initially drop a gap, slot in behind FFB for 15" and then another 15" to close 5-10m, to say he closed it easily is definitely not correct. And yeah, staying in the saddle was the point, to get less drag. All the other riders did also?

He's only a little bit smaller than Pogacar and weighs less. I don't know where people keep getting it from that Remco is too heavy/muscled to be a climber. He has already done top level climbing performance, he just needs more consistency.
