It is also important the change in riding style of Pogacar. Now he is riding 170 mm cranks and he has more cadence, but it seems he climbs worse than before in 2020 and 2021 when he was riding 172,5 cranks and he climbed with lower cadence. Vingegaard is using 172,5 cranks and he is only 174 cm, a bikefitter would say he is using a very long cranks for him but he is the best climber in the world riding like that, for example Wout Van Aert also uses 172,5 and he is almost 189cm. That could be interesting to analyze also. Thanks a lot for your videos! Merry Christmas to you!

Stage 8. I think even he was surprised by the time he took that day. I'm not so sure about Ventoux - maybe Pog was not willing to go so deep as Vingegu, also knowing the descent was still to come. When it mattered, on MTF stages, he was able to match or better him.
This is perfect route for O'Connor short of cobbles. There's such a climb heavy repetitive route again twice over galibier just bookending stages this year if all goes well I think eventually Jonas will be asked to not sacrifice podium or top5 since dauphine showed that but one of two will go from range on planned attack forcing tadej to cover and giving one a free ride on day where hopefully they have diamonds in there legs. As we saw in tirreno when tadej buries gas he goes away quick and Jonas himself said his acceleration is just incredible and nobody was in that league. Jonas had poor tt at tirreno is obviously stronger, and as long as cobbles don't put them back after tadej looking elite on pave, that would be issue that tadej will let a Thomas or kung a cobbler who can climb take yellow until maybe alpe d-huez where I'd guess tjv want jersey. If tadej is confident taking it there it's bad sign meaning he will just keep attacking everyone on every big clean climb for rest of race again nullifying the trains he's only one even Alberto couldn't detail an elite train. He needed mano a Mano. 2014 Vuelta. O'Connor will be constantly given slack as a non top TT and he suits all those climb heavy stages wouldn't be surprised if a tjv member is sacrificed to see O'Connor podium. Early in race Thomas, vlasov, should show well but roglic, pog, Jonas, O'Connor, a recovered Yates it's a lot of climbing better be a natural. GC my guess gets polka dots again otherwise Pinot and Guerrero could be exciting for polkadot race. 🥂 Cheers felicitations. Side note welens supposed to go to uae not benoot but a similar type role but if Swiss army knife ,big engine, rouleur , great for Flanders ambition. They pulled a Stefan kung, catanneo, bisseger even it's still not having wva, winning in general classification framework is hardest thing to do in cycling, but besides that best one day rider in cycling hands down so even all that help which is pie in sky just levels field wouldn't make team better. Not until healthy joao is used like Castro climbing domestiques and his Jonas who's 19 in ayuso bummer in timing because they will be monsters eventually with that depth could sweep podiums like ineos. 100%right about Milan I said it when people started snickering look at numbers competition wasn't there. He definitely was dropped as Jonas says it's best legs he ever had in his life and while he would have won summit finish the pretty noticeable back off I'd tadejs style to drop heart rate get back in aerobic rhythm and he's smart enough to know there was a descent to charge back on so best get lactate out of legs. If tadej goes for jersey on alpe d'huez he's ambitious historic climb be huge indicator of his comfort and confidence as he would stay in wheels unless he feels he's untouchable. Again agreed the way these guys avoid each other is annoying for VG pick lol or gambling if nothing else ☺️🏞️🏆two podiums given healthy race primoz , Jonas, tadej or tadej, Jonas , O'Connor vlasov in the mix not sure about 3 weeks but he's performing at the 4th highest all around level imo this year. Just think O'Connor rides so easy he will be final group 3rd week if not all race aside from solo victories. If tadej loses much like Alberto he's emptying chamber so if he loses to one I think it's tjv strength and tactics and both better him and if he has legs like strade, Flanders, tirreno etc I think teams will fight for 2nd maybe worst thing for tjv is a ganna,Dvb, Thomas led ineos they won't bully that horsepower and even if they help one stage that train will help pog and spare his team a lot of work especially if he has best legs. Let those two torture peloton and do your thing. Wellness would be great with tadej ,hirschi, not sure if trentin stays but kung, campanaerts, cattaneo, bisseger all game changers fir UAE imo hope to see it Dvb types to take over from bjerg as they ascend, ride, valleys, or become classics contender. Wellness wasn't getting chances at lotto as Belgian maybe victor isn't as far fetched I'd thought.✌️rambling I know your time lot stuff
I would love to be able to cycle through stage 11, it looks incredibly smooth and beautiful (I'm not a cyclist, don't ask me to go up a lot of slopes, and I'm from the Canary Islands, so I can't easily ride things like that here. I have the Teide National Park , and that's it)
I think that was a tactical retreat on Ventoux. He has shown to be a pretty good tactician. Jonas was stronger on the climb, no doubt, but seems that Tadej let the others catch him to assist on the downhill capture. Either way, there are so many excellent riders that nearly every stage will be exciting. What will Alaphilippe, MVdP and Wout do? What team will be very strong and smart and what team will go the Movistar route and leave us scratching our heads? Let us all hope that covid stays the heck out of the race.
Watch out for future upcoming AREFAYNE Aklilu 🤞 17 years old 9 sec behind Biniam Grimay on TT , he can sprint and climb and he is very good on TT ... I hope uci academy gives him a chance like Bini
How does Pogacar compare to other TDF winners? We seem to have fallen into a new era coincidentally with Covid, and it’s difficult to judge the dominance of Pog.
“Why should i be worried?” If i was Vingegaard, i would be wearing Pogacar’s arse like a hungry dog. I think he’s a good chance this year - maybe better than Roglic? The big question this year is - who’s going to come 4th?
Unless GC is a lock with JV in first and there isn't an unsurmountable gap or the gap is too small, at some point in the end I see one of the two JV riders sacrificing himself for the other, in which case double podium would be difficult. However it still is absolutely possible.
I think the 'weakness' of Pog last year on Ventoux was a bit of gamesmanship. He probably wanted to convey to the public (which had been pushing conspiracy theories of the sort made when a cyclist is seen to be totally dominant) that he was human after all. He knew a long downhill descent was coming up. This year at two stages of Tirreno-Adriatico - especially at Carpegna - Pog was able to leave Vingegaard behind effortlessly as if Vingegaard and the rest were standing still.
Vingegaard was wel under his level at Tirreno though, he did like 0.4w/kg less than his normal average climbing level on Carpegna. Ofcourse it could again have been the colder conditions that limited most riders power, but not that of Pog like in stage 8 last year. It isn't really a good comparison to mount ventoux stages where Vingegaard was on his peak level in hotter conditions.
Total dominance in cycling's biggest race...not something many people are comfortable with. I remember the raised eyebrows when team sky and Froomey won all those TdFs but not so much as a whisper re the two Slovenians beating the world. We shall see....🤫
I find total dominance to be boring, even if the person/team I'm rooting for. Sport is supposed to be competitive and when it's not it's boring. I enjoyed this TdF because we really didn't know if was going to be Tadej or Jonas (until we did) and throw in Geraint Thomas who made it interesting at third place as well. It was really a fun TdF this year.
I really think Roglic can take Pogacar one on one uphill sprint after a long alpine climb then on TTs keep it very very close... But adding up the time will weigh the scales in Pogs favour but Roglic team has far more aces up their sleeve.
I remember a time (during Amstrong era) where it was always said that if a rider goes over 6 watts/kilo for a period of time over 15 minutes, he was most definitely doped... I assume those numbers have changed now, since we keep seeing guys like that go over the "limit" again and again. What has changed, in the past 20 years? (please dont tell me, its physiologic cuz that bs)
the show must go on we want to see and follow the phenomenal races and the huge drama the big Winners the sad loser ... no space for "silly" doping question or are you NOT entertained?
Pretty much everything: nutrition in and outside races ,training, recovery methods.... Lance already said in his podcast that cycling is much more of a science today
Not saying it’s dope free, but the very peek numbers have gone down since then or even since Contador times. Plus 6w/kg for 15 is quite achievable for a normal person if you’re small, lean and fit.
Armstrong claimed he could hold over 7W/kg for 30 minutes, so that gives you an idea of how he was doped to the moon. Regardless of whether there's something in the orange juice these days, two things are significantly different - feeding and power measurement. Bike-based power meters were really clunky in the super-doper era, now it's a 7g penalty to have a power meter on your bike. Always training in power zones and having that kind of data fed to your coach to alter your training plan makes a big difference. Much easier to course-correct if someone looks like they're starting to overtrain or burn out, and that makes it possible for people to get more threshold-expanding training days in every year. The ethos around food has also completely changed - we've gone from starving yourself on training rides (in order to "train your body to run off nothing") to optimizing the ratio of sugars to maximize carbohydrate intake. Riders are eating as many calories as they possibly can now, and that makes their recovery much more manageable. Not as much need to transfuse your blood after every stage when you're eating adequate amounts of food. Now obviously there's room for suspicion, because we've already seen some ridiculous stuff this year (Jay Vine doing 6.3W/kg for 30+ minutes and getting HARD DROPPED by Remco in Tour of Norway, completely wtf???), but there's the counter argument to that from people like Iñigo San Millan (who has Pog's training files) who say that most power estimations made by journalists are way overestimated.
@@philipb.1950 1. Pog is smart. Get a buffer and maintain it vs blast everyone like he could. Why put minutes in to everyone and raise even more suspicion? Look at you noobs who already think he is the only one on the good sugar. 2. Now you think the pros want to ride XC brakes on their road bikes and that they dont care about weight that much and that they were not happy with rim brakes from shimano/campag etc. Funny that. 3. Looked what happened to Pantani when he tried to hog all the stages and glory in the 99 giro...Pog listens to his seniors who know how to run the win. 4. UAE own colnago. In 2022 it is BAD for business if you dont have your star riders riding what the noobs demand because they drank the Specialized and Canyon Kool-Aid - road disc. Id be very suprised if Pog was allowed to ride rim brakes on any road stage this year.
the biggest threat would be intense drug testing, just hope the other contenders don't fall the I need more drugs to win, it's not that I am against drugs, what I am against is the lack of tools to detect the lance Armstrong of the tour. the governor body should just legalize many of what they ban since they can't detect or stop, seems like they are doing a decent job of bike motors detection
I bet you focused too much on who was going to finish first in the GC instead of seeing the daily stage battles, which was kind of fun. Could have been better with Haig (considering how strong were the Bahrain Victorious) and Roglic but clearly not boring.
I really hope it won't be a repeat of last year, weeks 2 and 3 were so boring. Even worse than last year's bernal at the giro, which was also utterly dominant

On the ventoux stage pogacar said afterwards that he was dehydrated and could get water from anaywhere
I heard he did some sessions with Eddie Hall earlier that year
@@smeetsnoud1 good one lol
'Rugged up' Love the lingo, I'm stealing that one buddy
When does the preview to the tdf come on lrcp?
I hope TJV does a better job at protecting Roglic this year. Last years crash where he was riding alone in the bunch was hard to watch.
Through thorough research, I have concluded he should have been worried about Vingegaard
well it turns out he should be worried
Stage 8. I think even he was surprised by the time he took that day. I'm not so sure about Ventoux - maybe Pog was not willing to go so deep as Vingegu, also knowing the descent was still to come. When it mattered, on MTF stages, he was able to match or better him.
Even before ventoux vingegaard lost time to Pog
Excellent vid. Thank you
I am so exited to see what vingegård Can do this year with him having a Sharif captin role

Loved this video format! More like this please guys!
I would love to be able to cycle through stage 11, it looks incredibly smooth and beautiful (I'm not a cyclist, don't ask me to go up a lot of slopes, and I'm from the Canary Islands, so I can't easily ride things like that here. I have the Teide National Park , and that's it)
I've heard amazing things about cycling there and honestly, the best way to experience the world that I've found is about 10-15mph
"Why should I be?" did not age well
I think that was a tactical retreat on Ventoux.
I feel so much desire on behalf of Roglic
Pogacar in 2021 after winning TDF "Why should I be worried?" (about Vingegaard)....well.....😂
How does Pogacar compare to other TDF winners? We seem to have fallen into a new era coincidentally with Covid, and it’s difficult to judge the dominance of Pog.
Around Froome’s level

CC are pretty funny. "how did Teddy Pikachu win the 2021 tour de france" Yeah how DID Pikachu win?
“Why should i be worried?” If i was Vingegaard, i would be wearing Pogacar’s arse like a hungry dog. I think he’s a good chance this year - maybe better than Roglic? The big question this year is - who’s going to come 4th?
Unless GC is a lock with JV in first and there isn't an unsurmountable gap or the gap is too small, at some point in the end I see one of the two JV riders sacrificing himself for the other, in which case double podium would be difficult. However it still is absolutely possible.
This clip is from an interview before the final tt when Pogacar had almost 6 minutes lead on Vingegaard. His response makes sense.
Yeah but ACTUALLY *mumbling something about fitness peaks and team dynamics*
Vingegaard was wel under his level at Tirreno though, he did like 0.4w/kg less than his normal average climbing level on Carpegna. Ofcourse it could again have been the colder conditions that limited most riders power, but not that of Pog like in stage 8 last year. It isn't really a good comparison to mount ventoux stages where Vingegaard was on his peak level in hotter conditions.
Not after what happened on stage 11 this year again. J.W. Showed it wasn’t just a one time thing.
J.V. Correction
pog guy seems quite good
Exceptional young man
Someone tell me about that sign incident??? Wtf?
The only chance for a competitive Tour is if the doping controllers get to work again.
I really think Roglic can take Pogacar one on one uphill sprint after a long alpine climb then on TTs keep it very very close... But adding up the time will weigh the scales in Pogs favour but Roglic team has far more aces up their sleeve.
I honestly think that on the flat Roglic is slightly better, on a harder TT stage, it can go either way.
Wow this video aged well
yearning for the days of sky/froome
2:07 better Van Aert face than the Dumo/Van Aert reaction face
He lost the stage with disc brakes and win back to back with rim brakes. That is the logical answer.
Good discussion ✌️

What gear are they running?
12-speed PEDs
"Why should I be worried ? " Now you know :D
It’s 7watts per 15 no?
Answer: Best Doping like every tour de france winner in last 40 years
what interview was that Pog quote from "why should i be worried"
Sometime after one of the last stages. Don't know if it was just the TT left or also 1-2 mountain stages still.
It iritates me a little bit that they avoid each other. It would be more interesting when they would race more races together.
1:15 "that's how AF won the stage" LOL... yes, that's how
Why does UAE use the UCI code UAD?
He now knows why he should be worried
How did Pog win?
HE WON WITH RIM BRAKES!
Partially at least.
Funny that he was on dics breaks when he dropped everyone; but couldn’t with the rim breaks :)))
He's pure natty. Pure.
I'm calling it here. Pog is going to be dropped by Rogla and Jonas will mark him.
the other way around :) Jonas > Offense ---- Rog>Defense
Nah, rog will get dropped, jonas stays with pog
the biggest threat would be intense drug testing, just hope the other contenders don't fall the I need more drugs to win, it's not that I am against drugs, what I am against is the lack of tools to detect the lance Armstrong of the tour. the governor body should just legalize many of what they ban since they can't detect or stop, seems like they are doing a decent job of bike motors detection
2021 was one of the most boring tdfs in years
Says the belgian lmao
Facts
I bet you focused too much on who was going to finish first in the GC instead of seeing the daily stage battles, which was kind of fun. Could have been better with Haig (considering how strong were the Bahrain Victorious) and Roglic but clearly not boring.
Nice prediction.

@@bobo-ph6xm according to Pogacar: TANK you
Why should I be worried?
Can someone tell me why the UCI doesn't to team time trials in grand tours now?
The race organisers choose - the Vuelta has TTT this year
The big question is: is Thomas de Gent still worried about Pogacar? 🙂
The Pog looks leaner this year, not sure what that means.
Could mean something, could mean nothing.
@7:30 I guess we have the answer to that now!
I really hope it won't be a repeat of last year, weeks 2 and 3 were so boring. Even worse than last year's bernal at the giro, which was also utterly dominant
Roglic should have just done it in 2020, it was his Tour 3 weeks long. Minus one day...
So basically we hope for the heat.
