if this was any other game the community would just leave it to rot, but this has so much potential that it physically hurts whenever they make a bad decision or shove monetization in our face. I'd argue the wonky gameplay would be entirely more forgivable if they weren't constantly trying to drain our wallet and actually gave access to most characters without an endless grind. really hoping next season blows my expectations out the water
Season 3 was not a bad season. The Powerpuff Girls were my highly requested characters to join and I'm happy they're in the game. I hope they don't get nerfed. Season 4 might do good but I'll b laying off soon until I see Dexter (Dexter's Lab), Daffy Duck (Looney Tunes) and the Warner Siblings (Animaniacs). Daphne (Scooby-Doo) too.
It's a free to play game so I understand it has to be monetized. But adding characters no one asked for when you have the potential to do polls of fans for characters they want is lost on me.

It’s really that bad balancing changes and adding of characters that like no one cares about or wanted in Powerpuff girls sure but then Nubia after was a horrible decision But with Season 4 we just got two very requested characters so I have hope Also we need more single player options to make having my friends come over to play a lot more fun
I think the single player mode needs to be improved. I haven't played since season 2, so when getting back into it during season 4, I had so much new content to play and was excited to get into all of it........ I stopped after the second rift out of like 6, it was SO boring.
This game needs to drop more characters at the same time. Nubia is a fun character, but, for a game that gets by selling you characters individually, a super obscure character like Nubia is definitely a weird way to go. But, if Nubia got released alongside four or five other characters at the same time I doubt the initial negative reaction would’ve been what it was; like you release her along with a handful of other DC characters like Catwoman, Penguin, Swamp Thing, and Starro and it’s not so much of a big deal that you don’t know who Nubia is when you likely know who everyone else is. I wouldn’t call Nubia a weirdo pick. She’s just obscure, and while a weirdo freak character in a fighting game can be an obscure character, being obscure isn’t what makes them weird. Like in the case of Capcom’s Marvel Super Heroes fighting game Blackheart and Shuma-Gorath were weirdo characters, and they were definitely obscure characters at the time Marvel Super Heroes came out, but they were weirdo characters because of their designs and movies. Nubia on the other hand is just a regular looking human character that doesn’t do anything to make her look weird.

Only problem is that it's a mod, so it'll always be considered niche, so games like Rivals of Aether has staying power because it has the ability to be Project M but won't be shut down by the big N.

4:44 I think what people don’t understand is that not everything a character does has to be a reference to their respective series like take a look at smash bros, some characters have moves that makes sense for the character’s gameplay and are reasonably seen in the respective franchises but aren’t references or never happened in the source material like Peach pulling Toad out as a shield, Fox’s fox illusion and firefox, and pretty much everything Pac-Man does
You can invest 10$ in MVS which is cheaper than Rivals 2 and go infinite with the battle pass, unlocking skins along the way or through events, including some of those 30$ ones. MVS has problems but this isn't one of them.

My BIGGEST issue with the game is how hard it is to unlock characters. You have to grind so much to unlock them thru exp while it should instead be like Smash Bros that have a “story mode” gameplay which allows you to explore its story with bosses along with unlocking characters, if this was done to rifts then it would be ALOT more fun. We need unlocking characters to be made easier for new players.

On the other hand green lantern sounds sick but I don’t see it being all that after seeing how they did Raven.
Also unlike fire emblem, DC is the biggest IP that WB owns. The problem is that the character choices outside of the iconic three and the joker are nonsensical (raven's fine though). It'd be like if Smash didn't have Yoshi or Wario but had buzzy beetle, goompa, and added pom pom and King Bobomb before Bowser.
Fire Emblem is also a Nintendo property that until fairly recently was mostly known in America more because of Smash Bros. than the actual Fire Emblem games. And within Smash Bros. most Fire Emblem characters were sword fighting guys. To say it’s not a fair comparison undersells how bad a comparison it is. In this scenario DC would be more like Mario characters in Smash Bros., although Warner Bros. has way more high profile DC characters than Nintendo has Mario characters. Like at the moment, there’s at least 52 well known DC characters that aren’t in the game that wouldn’t raise an eyebrow if they were included. I’m sure there’s even more, but there’s at least like 52 well known characters that have prominently appeared in various DC movies and television shows over the years that you could know without having ever picked up a comic book before.

Currently it even makes more sense he’d be their before Flash, given that first Aquaman movie is one of the biggest DC movies ever made. It might have the biggest world wide box office of all the DC movies. The thing that doesn’t really make any sense is that Aquaman, and maybe even Black Manta, weren’t in sooner. I mean the first Aquaman movie came out in 2018, Aquaman probably should’ve been there in the beta given how huge that movie was.
The issue with the game is that new characters are only obtainable via purchasing them with real money for a very long time. By the time the powerpuff girls are available for free currency it's been about 2 months since their reveal trailer and the hype is focused on the next season already. So its VERY hard for me at least to get excited for a character. I don't mind paying for a character but the idea of paying for every character or even half of them as they come out is a lot to swallow.
Ya'know, i kinda feel like they'd get more players if they released with characters people actually wanted instead of whatever we got. Even this season. Sure, powerpuff girls is really nice but why another dc superhero? Some of the characters we got are big time characters on many people's lists, but not the majority. Also promoting toxicity in a game where you can't balance these characters well is just asking to fail. Failed the casuals and it might fail the ranked players.
The season releasing in a couple hours will have Raven as the release character and not locked behind the battlepass and marceline in mid December also unlocking 1 character will take a couple hours of play time around 3-4 hours
Nubia was a odd choice, Banna guard was also bad but the logic is a bit flawed. They'll always be a character for someone to ask for. And DC like it or not is the strongest brand the game has.
@texcorps9432 There'll always be a character, yes, but when you heavily market your game as being goofy and wacky but then have the majority of them being serious characters is not what people asked for and, at least to me, makes the game even more bland (combined with the general color the game uses). Ofc there'll be a Joe Shmo who wanted Jason since day 1, but that doesn't mean it's the majority. If you think about it, starting off with Jason and joker was not on many people's wish lists. Oh and having Dexter references and Animaniac stages/references and not having the characters is just them shooting themselves in the foot
@@Jiopera99 The game wasn’t heavily marketed as being goofy and wacky, it was just marketed as a crossover between Warner Bros. properties. That did include having Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Taz there since they are Warner Bros. characters, but from the first trailer, and the characters in the game on release, it was always heavier on DC than anything else and even had a Game of Thrones character on the roster.
@DIOBrando-ij2bp I heavily disagree. Everything about the game has always steered towrards being goofy and nonsensical. From the trailer to the emotes in game and to character voice lines, even for DC characters. Not only that but the whole color scheme of the game has always been a lighter tone. Just because you have more mature characters doesn't mean they gotta be more mature. If it were more DC focused I kinda feel they'd have more DC characters and a different time to fit that, maybe like their respective shows or 2d movies. Don't think it's heavily DC focused when there's still a chunk of DC characters that aren't there (even if it's still a significant albeit boring portion) Plus as a side note. If it was more DC focused it wouldn't be a crossover they'd make it more of a DC fighting game, where there's multiple of. The whole idea of a crossover is nonsensical enough as well.
It’s not often someone shares the same opinions I have on multiverses. “DC is what fire emblem was to smash”. This is so true. I always hated fire emblem for taking up so much space in smash when we could’ve gotten characters like Bandana waddle Dee, or at least ONE more sonic rep. The same thing is happening in multiverses. We could be getting characters like Mordecai and rigby, or Gumball. But I’m afraid DC characters are going to be the annoying thing that keeps getting added.
Excellent video, these are exactly my thoughts of the game. I especially hate how tedious the game can become if you don’t spend every day playing it. It became so annoying just to log in everyday to play 7 games JUST so I can get enough rewards to have a chance. I’m glad they’ve reeled back a lot of things but I would also like to see how they’d switch things up after admitting they’re $100 million down the drain
The game is a busted mess and full of Predatory monetisation, but that's just what we've come to expect from the indistry. Well, at least we got the PPG. I’d expect those Mortal Kombat characters before I’d expect Bill and Mandy to show up. Mortal Kombat is one of Warner Bros. bigger properties. The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy on the other hand is probably lower on the totem pole when it comes to Cartoon Network cartoon series since it’s not as big as the 1990s Cartoon Cartoon stuff that predated it, and it doesn’t seem as big as that crop of later 2010s cartoons that followed The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.
I actually like this game. And so do a lot of people who support it. Yes there problems but to drop this video on the day of the update and then as someone who’s not a fan why would you bash the game ? Like if you DONT like it, go play something else? A small but major thing I have a major gripe with. What is it with online focused games and their horrible menus. I tried multiversus once, and was absolutely confused in the menu. It's a mess in navigation and clarity, especially on console

It’s just different for dc as they also are not all using the same or similar weapons. 8:57 honestly, I believe the rifts became way easier ever since season 2, even insanity and looney difficultly aren’t really hard as long as the perks are at the level But I personally play them as soon as they come out, so I don’t know how it feels playing them late in the game

The thing is that the devs DO care for the game and has alot of soul put into it from thr characters to the mechanics. It really makes me wish the game was fully price rather than f2p
I still think Nubia is the worst character ever put in a platform fighter, and you can't convince me otherwise. She doesn't work as a weird obscure character, because those usually have the quirk of being interesting or funny, but not only does Nubia have one of the most boring movesets imaginable, it's literally just banana guard but again, but she's not even a goofy character like lebron james or banana guard, she's played one hundred percent completely straight. Also, when you have a game that prioritizes a huge crossover, maybe you should prioritize big name characters like flash or scooby fucking doo before putting in characters like Nubia who, and let me put this in complete context, is a character who has a series with 4 lego game adaptations, 2 of which have over 100 characters, and she has never appeared in ANY of them EVER. Seriously, Egg Fu would have been a better inclusion, and that is a sentient Egg with spider legs that at least people are somewhat familiar with in comparison to Nubia and would be interesting, like how shuma gorath is in marvel vs capcom. Hell, Even if they wanted to add her as like an echo fighter to Wonder Woman, I'd still argue Azrael or Robin as an echo for Batman would make more sense because those characters are actually iconic. Listen I get it, someone out there will always be a fan of a character to somebody, but I don't think that's an excuse to add garbage characters. NASB 2 added Rocksteady, who was one of my favorite inclusions, but I'm not gonna sit here and say that character isn't objectively a terrible choice, especially when half the ninja turtles are missing and both shredder and Rocksteady are nowhere on the roster. Sure, I get a kick out of playing him, but that doesn't mean it was a good idea.
I loved this game in BETA and didnt come back to it at all. Part of the reason is that by now I know how WB games are monetised and I don't like it. I also cant believe they didnt add MK characters yet.
Beta was better imo because it wasnt trying to be smash exactly. It felt fast and snappy. Now it feels slow and copied more elements from smash without thinking about implementation.
I for one can't go back to playing: the blatant changes made to squeeze the player for every last penny changes that game in small shitty little ways I hate finding out after every patch. Instead being excited for when MultiVersus updated, I dreaded it, because I know they'd tweak one little thing or make a small change meant to make the grind worse so you fork over cash. It was an infuriating experience and I'm glad to be rid of it.
I remember when this game relaunched I was super excited. I defended the slow movement and lack of things that was in the beta. After 1 week of playing I dropped the game. I wish the best for the game but I don't see myself playing it again. Unlocking characters is hell

I can only play this game for 20 minutes at a time until I’m frustrated at the amount of extra frames. Added into Dodgers on certain characters. How up attacks for all these certain characters hit from the bottom front to the bottom back. It covers their entire body hit boxes are just terrible. Hit the text and is terrible. It’s literally just fun for about 20 minutes and then my brain can’t handle it anymore.
I think it's cool added Nubia to the game. Needed more Black Characters cause we only have too. LeBron and Garnet. And more female characters especially with Raven and Marceline.
The frames need to be reworked cus even when some one is neg for days they will win interactions.you try pressing buttons in streetfighter when neg you keep getting punished.
Doubt, game wont make it. They wont change enough for it to matter the game needs a lot of overhauls that i doubt warner brothers will give them enough time to finish.
Played the heck out of beta with 3k matches, but really can't get with this full release. I reinstalled last night due to Raven hype, but quickly remembered both rifts and how "sluggish" the game feels. Immediately lost any motivation.
Fighter Road is slower than fighter currency as of yet. P.S. Sort of. If you play a lot it's faster. I as of yet haven't unlocked a single fighter via fighter road
I like Nubias' skill set and how she plays. But why this character? I've been reading comic books and graphic novels since i was 16 or so. Im 34 now. One thing i definitely know is I've never heard of her until multiversus. I read up on her and bought a few comics ebay and amazon prime lol. She is not that interesting tbh.
The biggest reason why ruby is a bad pick is because wb killed rooster teeth so still adding her to the game because of that would feel really really awkward. Like hey ruby these are the same people responsible for killing the company that made you and making you basically be a dead franchise now. So have fun with them.
I've been wanting to see RWBY added into this game, but with Rooster Teeth gone now, I feel like it'd be too late for that, huh? But then again, maybe... JUST maybe, it could happen. We'll see.
Do your research, a lot of the information given in the video is outdated (for example they said they were boosting the base speed of a lot of fighters but you skipped over that) but don't get me wrong I liked the video just do a little more research next time.
MVS has been such a disappointment. Beta has its own identity, the monetization was amazingly fair back then and I had so much hope for it. Forget the speed, player-friendly mechanics like rested xp which rewarded you for taking a break and gold that let you buy characters easily along with a handful of skins and that elusive Fred pfp as a gold money sink. WB got two greedy and shot PFG in the foot, from a gameplay perspective, PFG didn't have enough confidence in their game and shot themselves in the other foot. Now they're just hobbling along hoping hype characters will bring a few people back for a weekend after they spend $10 to buy Raven.

The characters aren’t locked behind the battlepass and u can get Raven on Friday with only a couple hours of playtime

4:44 I think what people don’t understand is that not everything a character does has to be a reference to their respective series like take a look at smash bros, some characters have moves that makes sense for the character’s gameplay and are reasonably seen in the respective franchises but aren’t references or never happened in the source material like Peach pulling Toad out as a shield, Fox’s fox illusion and firefox, and pretty much everything Pac-Man does

My BIGGEST issue with the game is how hard it is to unlock characters. You have to grind so much to unlock them thru exp while it should instead be like Smash Bros that have a “story mode” gameplay which allows you to explore its story with bosses along with unlocking characters, if this was done to rifts then it would be ALOT more fun. We need unlocking characters to be made easier for new players.

On the other hand green lantern sounds sick but I don’t see it being all that after seeing how they did Raven.
DC being like Fire Emblem is not a fair comparison. The Fire Emblem characters all have basically the same moveset.
Also unlike fire emblem, DC is the biggest IP that WB owns. The problem is that the character choices outside of the iconic three and the joker are nonsensical (raven's fine though). It'd be like if Smash didn't have Yoshi or Wario but had buzzy beetle, goompa, and added pom pom and King Bobomb before Bowser.
Fire Emblem is also a Nintendo property that until fairly recently was mostly known in America more because of Smash Bros. than the actual Fire Emblem games. And within Smash Bros. most Fire Emblem characters were sword fighting guys.
To say it’s not a fair comparison undersells how bad a comparison it is. In this scenario DC would be more like Mario characters in Smash Bros., although Warner Bros. has way more high profile DC characters than Nintendo has Mario characters. Like at the moment, there’s at least 52 well known DC characters that aren’t in the game that wouldn’t raise an eyebrow if they were included. I’m sure there’s even more, but there’s at least like 52 well known characters that have prominently appeared in various DC movies and television shows over the years that you could know without having ever picked up a comic book before.

Currently it even makes more sense he’d be their before Flash, given that first Aquaman movie is one of the biggest DC movies ever made. It might have the biggest world wide box office of all the DC movies. The thing that doesn’t really make any sense is that Aquaman, and maybe even Black Manta, weren’t in sooner. I mean the first Aquaman movie came out in 2018, Aquaman probably should’ve been there in the beta given how huge that movie was.

The issue with the game is that new characters are only obtainable via purchasing them with real money for a very long time. By the time the powerpuff girls are available for free currency it's been about 2 months since their reveal trailer and the hype is focused on the next season already. So its VERY hard for me at least to get excited for a character. I don't mind paying for a character but the idea of paying for every character or even half of them as they come out is a lot to swallow.
Ya'know, i kinda feel like they'd get more players if they released with characters people actually wanted instead of whatever we got. Even this season. Sure, powerpuff girls is really nice but why another dc superhero?
Some of the characters we got are big time characters on many people's lists, but not the majority. Also promoting toxicity in a game where you can't balance these characters well is just asking to fail. Failed the casuals and it might fail the ranked players.
The season releasing in a couple hours will have Raven as the release character and not locked behind the battlepass and marceline in mid December also unlocking 1 character will take a couple hours of play time around 3-4 hours
Nubia was a odd choice, Banna guard was also bad but the logic is a bit flawed. They'll always be a character for someone to ask for. And DC like it or not is the strongest brand the game has.
@texcorps9432 There'll always be a character, yes, but when you heavily market your game as being goofy and wacky but then have the majority of them being serious characters is not what people asked for and, at least to me, makes the game even more bland (combined with the general color the game uses).
Ofc there'll be a Joe Shmo who wanted Jason since day 1, but that doesn't mean it's the majority. If you think about it, starting off with Jason and joker was not on many people's wish lists.
Oh and having Dexter references and Animaniac stages/references and not having the characters is just them shooting themselves in the foot
@@Jiopera99 The game wasn’t heavily marketed as being goofy and wacky, it was just marketed as a crossover between Warner Bros. properties. That did include having Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny and Taz there since they are Warner Bros. characters, but from the first trailer, and the characters in the game on release, it was always heavier on DC than anything else and even had a Game of Thrones character on the roster.
@DIOBrando-ij2bp I heavily disagree. Everything about the game has always steered towrards being goofy and nonsensical. From the trailer to the emotes in game and to character voice lines, even for DC characters. Not only that but the whole color scheme of the game has always been a lighter tone. Just because you have more mature characters doesn't mean they gotta be more mature. If it were more DC focused I kinda feel they'd have more DC characters and a different time to fit that, maybe like their respective shows or 2d movies.
Don't think it's heavily DC focused when there's still a chunk of DC characters that aren't there (even if it's still a significant albeit boring portion)
Plus as a side note. If it was more DC focused it wouldn't be a crossover they'd make it more of a DC fighting game, where there's multiple of.

It’s not often someone shares the same opinions I have on multiverses. “DC is what fire emblem was to smash”. This is so true. I always hated fire emblem for taking up so much space in smash when we could’ve gotten characters like Bandana waddle Dee, or at least ONE more sonic rep. The same thing is happening in multiverses. We could be getting characters like Mordecai and rigby, or Gumball. But I’m afraid DC characters are going to be the annoying thing that keeps getting added.

It became so annoying just to log in everyday to play 7 games JUST so I can get enough rewards to have a chance. I’m glad they’ve reeled back a lot of things but I would also like to see how they’d switch things up after admitting they’re $100 million down the drain

I’d expect those Mortal Kombat characters before I’d expect Bill and Mandy to show up. Mortal Kombat is one of Warner Bros. bigger properties. The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy on the other hand is probably lower on the totem pole when it comes to Cartoon Network cartoon series since it’s not as big as the 1990s Cartoon Cartoon stuff that predated it, and it doesn’t seem as big as that crop of later 2010s cartoons that followed The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack.

6:03 difference is how dc is very mainstream. Batman, Superman, joker, Wonder Woman, and maybe Harley Quinn are some of the most iconic characters everyone knows. It’s just different for dc as they also are not all using the same or similar weapons. Also big issue with the game is we get random characters like Nubia and now a 4th adventure time character than a 4th looney tunes ones tendons have WBs Luigi, Daffy Duck.

The thing is that the devs DO care for the game and has alot of soul put into it from thr characters to the mechanics. It really makes me wish the game was fully price rather than f2p
I still think Nubia is the worst character ever put in a platform fighter, and you can't convince me otherwise. She doesn't work as a weird obscure character, because those usually have the quirk of being interesting or funny, but not only does Nubia have one of the most boring movesets imaginable, it's literally just banana guard but again, but she's not even a goofy character like lebron james or banana guard, she's played one hundred percent completely straight. Also, when you have a game that prioritizes a huge crossover, maybe you should prioritize big name characters like flash or scooby fucking doo before putting in characters like Nubia who, and let me put this in complete context, is a character who has a series with 4 lego game adaptations, 2 of which have over 100 characters, and she has never appeared in ANY of them EVER. Seriously, Egg Fu would have been a better inclusion, and that is a sentient Egg with spider legs that at least people are somewhat familiar with in comparison to Nubia and would be interesting, like how shuma gorath is in marvel vs capcom. Hell, Even if they wanted to add her as like an echo fighter to Wonder Woman, I'd still argue Azrael or Robin as an echo for Batman would make more sense because those characters are actually iconic.
Listen I get it, someone out there will always be a fan of a character to somebody, but I don't think that's an excuse to add garbage characters. NASB 2 added Rocksteady, who was one of my favorite inclusions, but I'm not gonna sit here and say that character isn't objectively a terrible choice, especially when half the ninja turtles are missing and both shredder and Rocksteady are nowhere on the roster. Sure, I get a kick out of playing him, but that doesn't mean it was a good idea.
I loved this game in BETA and didnt come back to it at all. Part of the reason is that by now I know how WB games are monetised and I don't like it. I also cant believe they didnt add MK characters yet.
Beta was better imo because it wasnt trying to be smash exactly. It felt fast and snappy. Now it feels slow and copied more elements from smash without thinking about implementation.
I for one can't go back to playing: the blatant changes made to squeeze the player for every last penny changes that game in small shitty little ways I hate finding out after every patch. Instead being excited for when MultiVersus updated, I dreaded it, because I know they'd tweak one little thing or make a small change meant to make the grind worse so you fork over cash. It was an infuriating experience and I'm glad to be rid of it.

I can only play this game for 20 minutes at a time until I’m frustrated at the amount of extra frames. Added into Dodgers on certain characters. How up attacks for all these certain characters hit from the bottom front to the bottom back. It covers their entire body hit boxes are just terrible. Hit the text and is terrible. It’s literally just fun for about 20 minutes and then my brain can’t handle it anymore.

Played the heck out of beta with 3k matches, but really can't get with this full release. I reinstalled last night due to Raven hype, but quickly remembered both rifts and how "sluggish" the game feels. Immediately lost any motivation.

Do your research, a lot of the information given in the video is outdated (for example they said they were boosting the base speed of a lot of fighters but you skipped over that) but don't get me wrong I liked the video just do a little more research next time.

MVS has been such a disappointment. Beta has its own identity, the monetization was amazingly fair back then and I had so much hope for it. Forget the speed, player-friendly mechanics like rested xp which rewarded you for taking a break and gold that let you buy characters easily along with a handful of skins and that elusive Fred pfp as a gold money sink. WB got two greedy and shot PFG in the foot, from a gameplay perspective, PFG didn't have enough confidence in their game and shot themselves in the other foot. Now they're just hobbling along hoping hype characters will bring a few people back for a weekend after they spend $10 to buy Raven.
