Get a clip-on wire antenna for your emergency radio because during a disaster you may not get reception unless you have an additional clip on antenna. I found out the hard way.
You should be able to reach out and get a flashlight anywhere in the house. I have the nightlights that stay on when the power goes off.
I have all of this. Its just all over my house and now i need to go find it. Dang it!

We are at 49 torados in Iowa this spring as of May 1st , with a couple towns almost total disasters 😢 .

Great idea's. For me water is a big concern during power outage as I am on well system. No power = no water = no flush toilet. So I store water in several 5 gallon buckets to flush toilet. Water for consumption is in one gallon jugs. Otherwise I am inline with you. I do need to get the weather radio though.
So you post this and I just finished checking all of our power packs and rechargeable lights; some lights are battery operated and I have plenty of the types needed. A house generator is next on the list, and adding additional supplies; can never have too much or prepare too much. We recently had a hail storm, with an unconfirmed tornado, and was without power for 12 hours. Thanks to prepping, we are prepared. And yes, it is in a kit and in one place. Great kit. Be careful up there, I have noticed the craziness of Ohio’s tornadoes.
Great video! Never thought of actually building a blackout kit. Always had candles and flashlights and such, but never thought about how much easier and less stressful having it kitted would be.
I think so. Especially with a small box or bucket. Shouldn’t take up much room.

Everyone rants against candles, but if used safely they offer a bit of heat as well as light. One candle flame gives about 78 BTU's of heat. My preference is the scented ones in a short glass jar with three wicks. Burn time varies but you'll get at least 6 hours with all 3 wicks lit and they are stable as well as breeze-resistant. What you don't want is stick candles or tea-lights as those blow out easily and stick candles fall and cause fires. The metal can of tea-lights gets really hot when they burn down and can melt surfaces. The glass jars do get very, very warm but not so much that they can harm anything solid they're sitting on, especially if you use the lid as a coaster underneath them. They're not as cheap as they used to be but dollar-for-hour give you as cheap a source of portable easily stored relatively safe light as you can get and they're waterproof to boot. Of course candles are not for use by children or around pets that might knock them over, but they were the best (and often the only) source of light most people had for centuries and they can still be just as effective so they are not something to be overlooked or discounted.
When my power goes out it's LED flashlights and headlights to assess and secure the situation, then my jar candles to maintain enough light to move around safely. Since I have a "Mr Buddy" type heater for back-up, I have augmented it with a propane-powered Coleman Lantern which gives great light and uses the same fuel canisters. I also have a compatible camp stove for cooking. Again you need common sense to use them safely but the propane stores forever and you can refill them safely and cheaply from a large tank like used for barbecues. And I have several rechargeable flashlights mostly using 18650 Li-Ion cells with a decent stock of batteries on hand as well as chargers I can use in a 12V vehicle to keep them going for at least a week without starting the car. One of those chargers also doubles a a USB powerbank fed by the batteries it charges making it very handy indeed. I'll be the last person without a solar power system going dark.
This seems like a lot of excess for a "Blackout Survival Kit". Blackout kit would typically just be some lighting gear to get you to the rest of your gear within the location you are in. I appreciate the gear, for sure, but this seems like a start on a bugout kit vs a blackout kit
It depends on what you find necessary.
My gas stove and outdoor grill are my survival kits.
