This movie felt like a bit of a first draft. As you said, it seemed overly long and uneven in both narrative and presentation, as though they didn't do much in the way of editing. I do feel like Yuasa came guns blazing with his style here, later refining it with Tatami Galaxy and Ping Pong. Still a memorable movie, but not even close to Satoshi Kon level.
Satoshi Kon's style is pretty different from Masaaki Yuasa so it's a bit hard to compare them. This is certainly not his best work though, he perfected his style over the years but even so, I'd say the presentation in Mind Game is still spectacular in my eyes, not as polished as Tatami Galaxy, which I do prefer but the movie does make for a much bigger and passionate experience. The narrative could've used another draft though, I definitely agree with that.
Ooh so you finally started your own youtube channel. Best of luck mate. Also your review was pretty good,i personally enjoyed mind game and i gave it an 8/10
Awesome review that's nicely descriptive while not being too long. I found the movie to be very interesting as it was the first Yuasa work I've seen (though I do prefer most of his other works.) Some of my favorite abstract anime include Mononoke, Kaiba and The Tatami Galaxy.
Maybe at some point in the future, no plans yet though. I'd like to talk about Ashita no Joe at some point though since I do love the series, maybe I'll watch the anime at some point.
Thank you. ^^ I plan to watch Cat Soup at some point. Need to be in the mood for something so weird though. I haven't read too much manga to be honest but I might review one some time in the future.
woah, that was a really good video, you deserve a lot more subs than you currently do, though thats to be expected of such a new channel i guess. Keep it up.
I can see what you mean. I sadly had to record this with a stuffy nose so it took more takes than I would have liked and I was kinda exhausted while doing it. I'll avoid recording with a stuffy nose from now on. Haha I hope you still enjoyed the review though. ^^
One of my favorites.
Good review, now I want to rewatch "Mind Game" as soon as possible.
It was also on Toonami/adult swim in 2018 during April Fools. It's a wonderful anime.
Haha, what a coincidence, I've just watched the movie, it was pretty interesting.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I haven't seen Mononoke yet but I plan to check it out eventually.
Do you also plan to review manga series? I think a review of Ashita no Joe for example would be nice.

You should give a chance to Cat soup, a very good movie with a surrealist style like Mindgame. Great work! Btw, you considered to make manga reviews?
Thank you. ^^

Ayyy. Yuasa the GOAT
For another weird anime film made by 4C, you should try Tekkon Kinkreet!
I'll definitely check it out at some point.
You know if you liked this then you'll like Tekkon Kinkreet and Dead leaves too.

I'm not sure but i felt you put more energy in your first review . I will watch The Secret World of Arrietty to see your second review. :D
